Sky Elements, a Texas-based drone show company, has set a new world record.

Interestingly, the company achieved the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Animation Performed by Drones” with a mesmerizing 30-minute Christmas show in Texas, US.

This spectacular Christmas show with over 5,000 drones unfolded at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex in North Richland Hills, Texas, on December 20.

This is their 11th Guinness World Record, breaking their previous record of 2,500 drones set just a week ago

“Not only did we spread the holiday spirit, but we also scored our 11th Guinness World Record while we were at it!” said Preston Ward, Chief Pilot of Sky Elements.

5,000 drones

The drone show was a “drive-in event.” Viewers remained in their cars while watching the performance. The show included a synchronized audio track.

Viewers tuned their car radios to the specified FM frequency (88.9 FM) to hear the accompanying music, narration, or sound effects that matched the drone light show.

​​A Guinness World Records official was on-site to verify the record.

The North Texas-based company orchestrated a 30-minute aerial narrative featuring 2,500 drones, surpassing the previous record of 26 minutes and 26 seconds held by a Chinese firm.

The company website’s update mentions that this mesmerizing display of 5,000 drones took to the sky to form a gigantic, lifelike turkey.

Adding to the visual spectacle, the turkey dramatically spread its feathers, showcasing a vibrant and colorful autumnal palette.

Further, the drone show transformed into a magical Christmas scene. A giant snowman and a whimsical gingerbread village, complete with festive lights and smoke, appeared in a breathtaking display.

In the end, it showcased Santa Claus and his reindeer soaring across the skyline, spreading Christmas joy to the audience.

Santa’s sleigh was brimming with gifts, and the overall display conveyed the festive message of “Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good flight!”

Prince Andrew didn't join the royal family's traditional Christmas celebrations at Sandringham amid another scandal.

On Dec. 25, the Duke of York, 64, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson skipped the royal family's traditional Christmas gathering amid backlash around the Duke of York's connection to an alleged Chinese "spy." Their younger daughter Princess Eugenie also didn't join the public-facing walk to church on Christmas, though their elder daughter Princess Beatrice did.

It was a last-minute change in plans for Beatrice, 36, who is pregnant with her second child and a decision made as her due date approaches. The princess stepped out with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and stepson Christopher Woolf, 8, for the festive walk to church at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate, where they joined King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton and other members of the royal family.

PEOPLE understands that Princess Beatrice had plans to spend the holiday with her in-laws in Italy, but doctors advised against travel at this point of her pregnancy.

In addition to skipping the Christmas gathering at the Norfolk estate and the traditional family walk to church at St. Mary Magdalene on the estate’s grounds the morning of Dec. 25, Andrew also didn't go to his brother King Charles’ pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace on Dec. 19 amid uproar around the alleged spy scandal.

Earlier this month, Andrew found himself at the center of further controversy following his disastrous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview surrounding his sexual assault allegations and association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which resulted in his step back as a working royal. The latest scandal involves the Duke of York’s close business links with a Chinese national alleged to be a spy, according to multiple reports.

The alleged spy, Yang Tengbo, was reportedly appointed as a “business adviser” to Prince Andrew and was promised access to the highest levels of the royal family “in an apparently serious breach of national security,” according to The Times. The outlet added that British security services found the man was a member of the Chinese Communist Party and was working for its United Front Work Department, which gathers intelligence.

The BBC reported that the man received an invite to Prince Andrew’s 60th birthday party in 2020 — just months after his Newsnight fiasco — and was told he could act on his behalf to seek investors in China. The Times reported that the alleged spy was also invited to the royal estate at Windsor.

Amid the fallout, it emerged on Dec. 16 that the Duke and Duchess of York (who divorced in 1996 but continue to live at Royal Lodge in Windsor) would no longer attend the royal family Christmas at Sandringham. Last year, the ex-couple stayed at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, and were expected to do so again this year.

Prince Andrew has been spotted with his ex-wife after deciding to skip royal Christmas in Sandringham.

The disgraced royal didn't join the other royals at church today. He was seen leaving the Royal Lodge with his Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

It was revealed last week that Duke of York had decided to stay away from the festivities to avoid further embarrassing the King after being embroiled in a scandal involving an alleged Chinese spy. Andrew has instead been spending Christmas with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who still lives with him at his Windsor home, Royal Lodge.

Andrew spent last Christmas with the royal family at the King’s Norfolk estate and was seen walking to and from church on Christmas Day as well as talking to local royal fans. Christmas this year is looking a lot different as he spends it with ex-wife Fergie. His eldest daughter Princess Beatrice, who is pregnant with her second child, is at Sandringham for Christmas. However, younger daughter Princess Eugenie is spending Christmas with her husband Jack Brooksbank's family for the first time.

The Duke of York’s latest nightmare was exposed after an alleged Chinese spy lost his appeal several weeks ago against being barred from the UK. The man, identified today as Yang Tengbo and named in court documents as ‘H6’, brought the case after being banned in March 2023 on national security grounds despite having become a close contact of the Duke.

The Chinese businessman, who has insisted he has "done nothing wrong or unlawful", visited Buckingham Palace twice and also entered St James's Palace and Windsor Castle as a guest of Andrew, 64. In a statement, Mr Tengbo added that the "widespread description of me as a 'spy' is entirely untrue".

Mr Yang was also invited to Prince Andrew's birthday party in 2020, and was told by royal aide Dominic Hampshire he could act on the duke's behalf when dealing with potential investors in China, a tribunal heard in July this year. The Duke on Friday released a statement stating he had ceased all contact with the alleged spy after being warned by the security services. He added: "Nothing of a sensitive nature was ever discussed."

However, the King and other senior royals were said to be 'exasperated' for Andrew heaping further shame on the monarchy. Royal sources confirmed Andrew had "done the right thing" by stepping away from the Christmas gathering. A royal source previously said: “The King and other members of the family are as exasperated as can be with the Duke with this latest issue. It is of grave embarrassment to him and the institution."

Despite cutting him off financially and refusing to meet the £3million a year cost of his private security, the King had attempted to bring his brother in from the cold since ascending the throne. His former wife Sarah, Duchess of York, who has herself been embroiled in several scandals involving cash for access claims at the heart of the institution involving her ex-husband, said she will always "support" the father of her children.

She added: "I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. I would do it all over again, 100 per cent. He’s the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I was able to because love conquers all. It’s still with us today. I won’t let him down."

The influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the country is growing, according to Bertrand Chamoulaud

The Islamist movement Muslim Brotherhood has been expanding its influence in France, acting behind the scenes to make the country a caliphate governed by Sharia law, according to the country’s top intelligence official.

Bertrand Chamoulaud, head of the National Directorate for Territorial Intelligence at the French Ministry of the Interior, made the remarks during an interview with Le Monde this week.

He said more than 100,000 worshippers attend mosques run by the Muslim Brotherhood, who spread their ideas through entrenchment and with a “very smooth” discourse rather than resorting to violence.

The movement is effectively using societal tensions to gradually infiltrate some social enterprises and civil society organizations, said Chamoulaud.

“This concerns us because their infiltration affects all sectors: sports, health, education, etc.,” he stressed.

One of their strategy tools is playing a victim role, Chamoulaud said, elaborating that every time a mosque is closed or a separatist imam is expelled, the Islamists denounce a so-called “Islamophobic state.”

The risk is that some moderate Muslims may be convinced by this victim discourse, the intel chief warned.

He cited as an example the non-profit organization Collective against Islamophobia in France (CCIF), which was created in 2003 with a mission to combat discrimination towards Muslims. Dissolved in 2020, the CCIF was repeatedly criticized over its use of the term Islamophobia, and was suspected of having Islamist links.

The CCIF’s ideas, such as the compulsory veil or the rejection of mixed-race groups, are now gradually becoming established in Belgium, Chamoulaud claimed.

The Society of the Muslim Brothers, better known as the Muslim Brotherhood, is a transnational Sunni Islamist organization founded in Egypt by an Islamic scholar in 1928. It advocates the application of Islamic law in all aspects of society, and is banned as a terrorist organization by many countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron has launched a crackdown on what he calls Islamist separatism and radical Islam in the country following deadly jihadist attacks in recent years by foreign and homegrown militants. The measures aim to limit foreign influence over Muslim institutions in France.

Nearly seven million Muslims live in France, around 10% of the population, according to data by France’s statistics agency. Islam is the country’s second-largest religion after Catholicism.

The Piney-Pinecreek Border Airport is so named because its runway crosses the US-Canada border, reports Minnesota Public Radio. In fact, it's been hailed as "the world's first binational airport," notes the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Despite the bragging rights, however, the airport has been mostly used by hunters and fishermen, and the cost of maintenance has proven to be too much. The airport has a 3,297-foot runway, of which 2,350 feet are in Minnesota and the rest in Canada, per the Grand Forks Herald.

Last time I checked, Trumpers are the MAJORITY in our country.

Here’s a holiday guide for dealing with the Trumper in your family, even over a Zoom call. It’s a problem that comes up with increasing regularity in some families.

Some families with a Trumper make it a point never to talk politics with them. But this is becoming difficult, given we’re just weeks away from another and even less restrained Trump administration.

Some people who have a Trumper in their family have stopped seeing or talking with them altogether, effectively pushing them out of the family. This may be necessary but it’s a drastic and, for some, sad remedy. Others simply don’t invite the Trumper in their family to their holiday dinners. But this can be awkward, especially if several of your relatives are Trumpers or if the Trumper is long accustomed to coming to family dinner for the holiday.

Former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s campaign committee has reported spending millions of dollars on Stripe Inc.’s payment-processing services in recent years, though it now says that those funds ultimately went somewhere else — and campaign-finance watchers say that’s a problem.

During the 2024 election cycle, Gaetz’s principal campaign committee, Friends of Matt Gaetz, said in Federal Election Commission filings that it had paid a total of $1.2 million in “e-merchant fees” to Stripe, a San Francisco-based financial-services company. The sum is equivalent to about 19% of all contributions the campaign took in during the period, the filings show.

The jolly old man who sneaks into our houses every 24 December is beloved across the world and known by many names. But should you call him Father Christmas, St Nicholas or Santa Claus? What's the difference? Where did he come from? Is he a Christian saint or a corporate stooge?

In this article we'll explore how Father Christmas emerged in England at a time when seasonal celebrations were under attack. We'll also uncover the transatlantic origins of Santa Claus, and find out what happened when these two festive figureheads met in the 19th century.

The English Origins of Father Christmas

From his earliest days until the 19th century, Father Christmas was a strictly allegorical figure. He was a symbol of the Christmas season, rather than a mythical being. He was often depicted as a merry old man who presided over festive parties, not a gentle giver of gifts. And that's largely because Christmas was celebrated differently, with much more emphasis on entertainment for adults - as can be seen in Kenny Meadows' drawing in the Illustrated London News.

The earliest evidence for a personified Christmas can be found in a 15th-century carol, in which a character called 'Sir Christëmas' shares the news of Christ's birth. He tells his audience to 'Make good cheer and be right merry.'

Another precurser to Father Christmas could be found in York, where a festival called the 'Yule Ridings' took place on the 21 December. A man disguised as Yule carried cakes and meat through the streets and threw nuts into the crowd. In 1572 the procession was banned after complaints of 'verie rude and barbarouse' behaviour.

Elsewhere in Tudor and Stuart times, specially appointed 'Lords of Misrule' oversaw Christmas celebrations in aristocratic houses, and were sometimes given names like ‘Captain Christmas’, ‘The Christmas Lord’ or ‘Prince Christmas’.

But none of these early personifications of Christmas make him out to be a 'father' or an old man. For that, the world had to wait for the playwright Ben Johnson.

Johnson's Christmas, His Masque was performed for the royal court in 1616. In the play, the character of 'Christmas' appears in old-fashioned clothes with a long thin beard, calling himself 'old Christmas' and 'old Gregorie Christmas'. He brings with him several of his sons and daughters, each personifying a different tradition of the period, with names like ‘Misrule’, ‘Carol’, ‘Mince Pie’, ‘Mumming’ and ‘Wassail’. Christmas himself came with no gifts, but one of his sons, ‘New Yeares Gift’, brought ‘an Orange, and a sprig of Rosemarie…with a coller of gingerbread…[and] a bottle of wine on either arme.’

The Puritan attack on Christmas intensified before, during and after the English Civil War (1642-51). Royalists flocked to Christmas's defence, and once again personified the season to make their case, as in the 1645 pamphlet 'The Arraignment, Conviction and Imprisonment of Christmas'. In this allegorical story, a woman asks the Oxford town crier where 'old father Christmas' has gone. She is told that ‘The poor old man...was arraigned, condemned, and after conviction cast into prison amongst the King’s Souldiers; fearing to be hanged.’

Sure enough, in 1647 Parliament banned Christmas altogether, along with Easter, Whitsun and many other traditional holidays.

He also featured in a pamphlet of 1652 by the Royalist John Taylor called 'The Vindication of Christmas':

And in 1658, a pamphlet entitled 'The Examination and Tryall of Old Father Christmas' depicted him as a man with a white beard and old-fashioned fur-trimmed gown. He's put on trial for his life, but thankfully for us, is acquitted by the jury.

Christmas returned after the Restoration of 1660, and Father Christmas went on to appear in stage plays and folk drama over the next 200 years. But, as Ronald Hutton says in Stations of the Sun, he remained far removed from our understanding of the man:

‘He was essentially concerned with the adult world, personifying feasting and games, he had no connection with presents, and he was not treated with much respect, being generally a burlesque figure of fun.’

Father Christmas enjoyed a mini-renaissance in the first half of the 19th century. In illustrations he was sometimes shown as a winter sprite with garlands of holly on his head, surrounded by food and drink, and he featured in many folk plays of the era. He also closely resembles the Ghost of Christmas Present from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

But Christmas was changing. With the Victorian focus on family life and children, it would no longer be just a time for drinking, feasting and making merry. And this new kind of Christmas needed a new kind of old man to represent it.

St Nicholas and Sinterklaas

Long before the symbol of Father Christmas emerged in England, the separate legend of Sinterklaas was gaining ground in Europe.

The origins of Sinterklaas can be found in the stories of St Nicholas, a 4th-century Greek bishop from Myra, now in modern-day Turkey.

St Nicholas was credited with a wide variety of miracles. According to one story, he resurrected three youths after they'd been murdered and pickled in a barrel by an innkeeper.

In another tale, he met a poor man who was on the brink of selling his own daughters into slavery. Under the cover of darkness, the saint anonymously threw three bags of gold down the chimney to provide dowries for the girls. The gold landed in their stockings, which were drying by the fire.

St Nicholas's fame spread throughout medieval Europe after his relics were ‘rescued’ from Myra and taken to Italy in 1087. Over time, tales of his gold-giving exploits gave rise to a tradition of leaving gifts for children on the night before 6 December - which was St Nicholas’s Day. In the Netherlands, special markets sprang up to sell toys and treats for the occasion, and St Nicholas, or 'Sinterklaas' impersonators dressed in red bishops’ costumes to delight the crowds. Tradition had it that, in his quest to deliver presents, St Nicholas would enter houses by passing through locked doors or descending down chimneys to leave gifts in shoes and stockings.

Much like the English Father Christmas, Sinterklaas came under attack during and after the Reformation, with Protestants keen to move away from veneration of the saints. The baby Jesus was promoted as a more appropriate giver of gifts – known in Germany as das Christkindl, later Anglicised as ‘Kris Kringle’. St Nicholas markets were banned - as were biscuits baked in the shape of the bishop.

But it’s clear that popular traditions survived. One famous depiction is Jan Steen’s 17th-century painting of The Feast of St Nicholas, which shows a chaotic domestic Dutch scene of gift-giving and feasting.

More evidence of their survival comes from the ways that the Sinterklaas 'universe' expanded to include a host of frightening, violent characters who dished out punishments to naughty children - including Krampus, Pere Fouettard (‘Old Man Whipper’), Ru-Klaus (‘Rough Nicholas’), Pelsnickel (‘Furry Nicholas’) and Knecht Rupert (‘Farmhand Rupert’).

Father Christmas meets Santa Claus

Historians think that Santa Claus first stepped foot in England in 1864, when he featured alongside Father Christmas in a story by the American author Susanna Warner. In her tale, Santa Claus brought gifts, while Father Christmas appeared in a mummer’s play. And there's evidence that in the 1860s other beings, such as fairies, were responsible for clandestine Christmas gifts.

But the new legend of Santa Claus soon displaced the fairies, much to the confusion of English folklorists in the 1870s, who were at a loss to explain the emerging tradition. One, a Mr Edwin Lees, wrote in a letter to Notes & Queries in 1879:

‘On Christmas Eve, when the inmates of a house in the country retire to bed, all those desirous of a present place a stocking outside the door of their bedroom, with the expectation that some mythical being called Santiclaus will fill the stocking or place something within it before morning...From what region of the earth or air this benevolent Santiclaus takes flight I have not been able to ascertain.’

By the 1880s Santa Claus had almost completely merged with Father Christmas, and was popular across all parts of the country. The Oxford Dictionary of English Folklore notes that a French visitor to England in 1883 said it was a matter of common knowledge that Father Christmas came down chimneys to put toys and sweets in stockings.

By the end of the century, Punch magazine was depicting 'Father Christmas not-up-to-date' as the old, food-focused figure of the past, and 'Father Christmas up-to-date' as a much more modern figure, dashing through the snow on a car carrying a box full of toys.

The English Father Christmas was now Santa Claus in all but name. Despite being invented by New Yorkers hankering after old Dutch traditions, Santa was exactly the kind of hero the Victorians needed for their new, family-friendly Christmas.

A Very Victorian Christmas Icon

The Victorians did more than anyone to give us our ‘modern’ Christmas. For them, Christmas was a time for children, charity, and religion. There was no more room for the raucous Lords of Misrule, or the kinds of celebrations presided over by Ben Johnson’s Old Christmas and his gang of delinquent children.

As the 19th century wore on, new traditions were imported, invented and reinvented to support this tamer, domesticated Christmas. Prince Albert and Queen Victoria popularised the German Christmas tree; gift-giving shifted to Christmas from New Year; Tom Smith invented the Christmas cracker; mass-produced cards were sent across the country and around the world and carol singing enjoyed a renaissance.

The old English Father Christmas loved a good party, but the Victorians needed more from him that that. Generous, jolly and dedicated to children, Santa Claus was the ideal character for their new version of Christmas – just as he was for the New Yorkers who did so much to shape his legend earlier in the century. To conquer the English imagination, he just needed to assume a more familiar name.

Whatever we call him, he continues to dominate the popular culture of Christmas across the world – and he’s showing no sign of slowing down.

‘No winners in nuclear war’ – Lavrov

Moscow’s patience is not limitless when it comes to its national interests, the foreign minister has said

Moscow is convinced that a nuclear conflict cannot be won and should not be launched under any circumstances,Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the ‘60 Minutes’TV show on Wednesday.That does not mean that anyone can test Russia’s patience, the minister warned, adding that his country would not hesitate to defend its interests with all available means.

Russia has “never started a discussion on… whether nuclear arms can be used,” the minister said.Moscow wants nuclear powers to once again officially acknowledge “there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be triggered” – something that US President Ronald Reagan and the Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev did in the 1980s, according to Lavrov.

Russia first put forward a corresponding initiative during talks between President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden and then presented it to the five permanent UN Security Council members in 2021.

All statementsthat “consideredvarious scenarios of a nuclear war possible” came solely from Western capitals, the minister said. He particularly referred to the recent statements of US Strategic Command (STRATCOM) spokesman Rear Admiral Thomas Buchanan. Last month, theadmiral said Washington was ready to launch nuclear strikes but would only do so “on terms that are most acceptable to the US.” (WTF is wrong with them)

According to Lavrov,Russia requested that the US clarify those statements but did not receive any “reasonable” answers. Moscow has no intention of “turning up the heat” on the issue of the use of nuclear weapons or its consequences and would gladly do anything to save people in the West the trouble of building nuclear bunkers, he said.

Russia’s use of its state-of-the-art nuclear-capable Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile system against a target in Ukraine led to a fourfold increase in the number of Americans looking for nuclear bunkers, the CEO of a Texas-based survival shelter company claimed in mid-December. The missile used in the strike was equipped with conventional warheads.

“We are firmly sticking to a position that there can be no winners in a nuclear war,” he said. The minister still cautioned Russia’s adversaries against provoking Moscow into taking drastic steps to protect its interests.

“I would advise anyone against testing our patience, our determination to defend our legitimate national interests with all means available,” Lavrov said.“They that have ears to hear, let them hear; they that have brains to understand, let them understand.”

Speaking at a meeting of top Russian Defense Ministry officials last week, Putin stated that the West’s active militarysupport to Ukraine was pushing Russia to the point where it could not help but retaliate. The president accused Washington of trying “to weaken our country and inflict a strategic defeat” on Moscow by pumping Ukraine full of money and weapons.

Lavrov outlines Moscow’s demands for resolving Ukraine conflict

Russia is seeking the fulfilment of past obligations from Kiev and the West, the foreign minister has said

Kiev and its Western backers have a backlog of unfulfilled promises to Moscow, which they must deliver on in order to end the Ukraine conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview on Wednesday.

Russia's top diplomat reiterated thatMoscow is willing to resolve the crisis through negotiations, but that it “needs to see serious specific proposals”for any meaningful progress, he told the ‘60 minutes’ program on Russian television.

He rejected the claim that the Russian government has preconditions for talks, saying that what President Vladimir Putin stated on multiple occasions was in essence a demand to deliver on past promises.

Lavrov mentionedassurances that NATO would not expand in Europethat were made to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev,the 2014 power-sharing agreementbetween then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and the people behind the armed coup in Kiev,and the Minsk agreements on peaceful reintegration of Donbassas examples of broken promises.

The minister also accused Kiev of violating its international obligations to respect the rights of its citizens, who consider the Russian language and culture to be part of their identity.Not adopting discriminatory domestic politics is part of “a bare minimum of what any normal member of the international community must do,”he said.

Kiev “has declared the eradication of everything Russian pretty much its main goal” and cannot purport to represent people living in Russian regions, which Ukraine claims under its sovereignty, Lavrov stressed.

The Ukrainian government has turned the country into a Western tool used to “remove a strong competitor in the Russian Federation from the international stage,” the diplomat stated, asserting that the West’s general policy is to remove any competition.

Moscow will not accept a ceasefire that would allow Kiev to regroup its army and renew attempts “to inflict a strategic defeaton Russia on the order of its masters,” Lavrov said.

Moscow is seeking “reliable, judicially binding agreements, which would remove the core causes of this conflict,” including the threat from NATO, he stressed.

Russia has “no illusion” that the election of Donald Trumpas the next US president would lead to a radical change of policy in Washington, Lavrov added. Trump has said he believes ending the hostilities in Ukraine as soon as possible would be in the interests of all parties involved.

Ukraine could attack Russia unless it joins NATO – former Ukrainian FM

Membership in the bloc would be what restrained Kiev from later taking “revenge,” according to (Big Fat Crybaby) Dmitry Kuleba

NATO membership for Ukraine is the only way to stop the country from waging war against Russia in the future, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has said. In a lengthy interview with the Kiev Independent published on Tuesday, Kuleba warned not to “underestimate” Kiev’s potential for “revanchist policies.”

Kulebastepped down as Kiev’s chief diplomat earlier this year during a large-scale purge of senior officials by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, andtook up a position at a Harvard-based international relations research center.

Before his resignation, he repeatedly warned that NATO’s unwillingness to accept Ukraineinto its ranks significantly hinders the possibility of quickly finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Russia.

Moscow opposes Ukraine’s membership in the US-led bloc, considering it a fundamental threat to Russia’s national security. Kiev’s official refusal to seek NATO membership and its neutrality are among Moscow’s key conditions for starting peace negotiations.

In his latest interview, Kuleba noted that whilein the short-term the sides could reach a ceasefire without NATO membership for Ukraine, it “will not mean the end of the war and will not prevent the next war.” By the “next war” he meant two possibilities, the first of which is Russia attacking the US-led bloc, the prospect of whichMoscow has repeatedly refuted as nonsense.

“If whatever we know of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is true, he will attack NATO only if he defeats Ukraine. If Ukraine comes out of this fight as a winning power and joins NATO,the combined military force of the alliance against Russia will be invincible,” he stated.

The second possibility he outlined is Ukraine attacking Russia out of “revenge” for the current conflictand to seize back the former Ukrainian territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, Zaporozhye and Crimea that joined Russia.

“Ukraine’s potential for revanchist policiestowards Russia in the medium termshould not be underestimated and written off," Kuleba warned.

“The next generation of Ukrainian politicians will be focused entirely on the recovery of Ukraine after the war, but the generation after them will come to power on the slogans of revenge, on revanchist slogans towards Russia [such as] ‘retake territories!,’ ‘make Russia finally pay!,’”he added.Kuleba noted that such policies would come into focus “the moment” Ukraine “gets on its feet economically.”(They are broke for decades, they hardly own the land, they sold it to the west)

“Ukrainian membership in NATO is the only way to prevent the next war… to hold [Ukraine] back from waging a war on Russia… to make it bound by legal obligations to not expose its allies to the risk of war with Russia,” he claimed.

Moscow maintains that any peace settlement with Kiev must begin with Ukraine ceasing military operations and acknowledging the “territorial reality” that it will never regain control of its former regions.

Kiev can’t build nuclear weapons without West – Moscow

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has put Ukraine’s sponsors on notice

Ukraine lacks the capability to develop nuclear weapons on its own and could only obtain them with help from the West, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, Zakharova addressedstatements by Western officials and media outlets about Kiev having a nuclear deterrent.

“The Kiev regime can’t create nuclear weapons in a few weeks on its own. This is a fact,”Zakharova said, adding thatthe only way for Ukraine to achieve thiswould be “to receive important components from the outside, from other states.”

Ukraine should “sort out the heating season rather than seek nuclear weapons,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.

The current government in Kiev has repeatedly claimed that Ukraine “gave up” nuclear weapons in 1994 in exchange for security assurances from both Russia and the US. VladimirZelensky has accused Moscow of violating the ‘Budapest Memorandum’ and claimed that Kiev therefore has the right to acquire nuclear weapons.

Russia has pointed out that Ukraine never had any nuclear weapons to begin with. The memorandum involved Soviet assets that legally belonged to Moscow, while it was the US that trampled on the 1994 deal by sponsoring the Maidan coup in Kiev in 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

In early October, German outlet Bild reportedthat Ukraine was ready to go nuclear, citing an unnamed weapons procurement official.

“We have the material, we have the knowledge. If the order is given, we will only need a few weeks to have the first bomb,” the official was quoted as saying earlier this year, adding that the West should “think less about Russia’s red lines and more about ours.”

Kiev quickly denied Bild’s claims, however, calling it “nonsense”and suggesting that the consistently pro-Ukrainian outlet was in fact publishing “Russian propaganda.”

Last month, however, the Washington Post cited anonymous US officials as speculating that the White House“could allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons again.” President Joe Biden’s national security adviser,Jake Sullivan, officially denied the reports.

1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the No Congressionally Obligated Recurring Revenue Used as Pensions To Incarcerated Officials Now Act or the No CORRUPTION Act.

2.

Forfeiture of pension

(a)

In general

Section 8332(o) of title 5, United States Code, is amended—

(1)

by redesignating paragraphs (4), (5), and (6) as paragraphs (5), (6), and (7), respectively;

(2)

by inserting after paragraph (3) the following:

(4)(A)

Subject to subparagraph (B), an individual convicted of an offense described in paragraph (2) shall not be eligible to receive any payment of an annuity pursuant to the retirement system under this subchapter or chapter 84, except that this sentence applies only to such payments based on service rendered as a Member (irrespective of when rendered).

(B)

If the conviction of an individual described in subparagraph (A) is overturned on appeal by a court of competent jurisdiction, the individual shall receive payments that the individual would have received but for the application of subparagraph (A).

(C)

This paragraph applies only to a conviction that occurs after the date of enactment of the No Congressionally Obligated Recurring Revenue Used as Pensions To Incarcerated Officials Now Act.

A Christmas photo shared by NASA astronauts stranded on the international space station has everyone wondering how they got their hands on Christmas treats.

The images, which show Butch Wilmore, Suni Williams and other NASA astronauts wearing Santa Claus hats, was posted earlier this week to celebrate the holidays.

The two test pilots have been stranded in space since June, when they blasted off on Boeing’s first astronaut flight to the International Space Station.

“Rating-hungry” officials are undermining national unity, Pyotr Poroshenko has claimed

Holding elections in Ukraine would deal a blow to national unity and “ruin the state,” the country’s former president, Pyotr Poroshenko, has claimed. His attack was directed at lawmakers, whom he branded a “Russian fifth column.”

The government suspended elections scheduled for 2024, citing martial law. The terms of Vladimir Zelensky’s presidency and for members or parliament expired earlier this year. TheUkrainian constitution allows MPs to remain in office during wartime but does not mention the president in such a case.

Poroshenko, who leads the European Solidarity party and is one of its serving MPs, lashed out at fellow lawmakers during an interview on Wednesday, calling their actions behind closed doors “a shame for Ukraine.”

“We need tostop wasting time on empty bubbling, on embezzlement, on non-consequential performances at the parliament,”he said, suggesting that members of his party are not engaged in such activities, unlike their competition.

In 2019, Zelensky’s Servant of the People party won 254 places in the 450-seat parliament and did not need a coalition partner to form a government. Poroshenko’s party secured 25 seats that year.

Some MPs have since been stripped of their authority, resigned, or otherwise left their elected offices. Just 401 are officially listed as still on the rolls, with roughly 360 reportedly actively participating in sessions.

Most bills require a minimum of 226 votes to pass in the chamber. David Arakhamia, who leads Zelensky’s party in parliament, has complained of struggling to meet that benchmark.

If an official election campaign were to start now “that would mean the death of unity," Poroshenko claimed, adding that “unity is the key factor of our victory [against Russia].”

He urged a vote on a bill he had introduced to make it easier for the parliament to expel a member. If passed, alleged traitors could simply be ousted, Poroshenko said. Then a “coalition of national unity” could form a new government, in which jobs would be given “to professionals and not amateurs, people hungry for approval ratings, and show script writers.”

Zelensky gained fame as a popular comedian and producer before making a surprise turn into a politics in 2019.

This would seem highly questionable, given how difficult it is to operate in space with manned and even unmanned vehicles and drones able to quickly “transit” and maintain stealth from one radar aperture to another.

Regardless, the People’s Republic of China has unveiled an interesting 6th-gen stealth fighter mock-up called the “White Emperor” (Baidi), intended to function as an “integrated space-air” fighter ultimately.

The future jet will be able to travel at supersonic speeds near the boundary of the Earth’s atmosphere, according to an interesting essay from The National Interest.

China built the mock-up and presented by China’s state-owned Aviation Industry of China (AVIC).

Space-Air Fighter?

How realistic is this? The answer may be complex to discern as it depends upon thermal management, speed, propulsion, sensing, and the nature of the materials the aircraft ultimately uses.

However, the US Air Force is reportedly progressing with its X-37B spacecraft, a NASA project now being adapted for military missions, so some space-operating war platforms do not seem wholly beyond the realm of the possible.

The size, shape, and configuration of the design, however, are observable, and the mock-up contains a number of interesting elements.

Of course, one should recognize that a “mock-up” is more of an external design, as other aircraft elements may not exist or only exist in terms of early conceptual work.

The largest observable feature is its rounded, less angular, stealthy configuration, which shows a blended wing body, smoothly curved fuselage, and rectangular nosecone.

However, despite these stealth features, this White Emperor mock-up looks quite different from earlier renderings of published Chinese 6th-generation models.

France offered secret talks on Ukraine – Lavrov

Paris has proposed helping Moscow establish dialogue on the conflict without Kiev’s participation, the Russian foreign minister has said

France has repeatedly offered to help establish secret talks on the Ukraine conflict without Kiev’s direct participation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

Speaking to journalists at an end-of-year press conference on Thursday, Lavrov stated that French diplomats have approached the Russian side “through closed channels,” offering to let them “establish a dialogue on the Ukraine issue.”

According to the foreign minister, this was done without the involvement of the Ukrainian side. The minister noted that these signals from Parisseemed to violate the Western rule of “not a word about Ukraine without Ukraine.”(Zelensky demanded that.)

However, Lavrov went on to say that, while Russia does not mind holding these types of talks,France is also the primary initiatorof discussions about sending peacekeepers to Ukraine,is currently training Ukrainian troops, and has stated that it is necessary to “continue to hammer Russia” to ensure that Ukraine has a stronger negotiating position.

Moscow insists on “final legal agreements that will fix all the conditions for ensuring the security of Russia and the legitimate security interests of our neighbors,but in a context that will secure the impossibility of violating these agreements in an international legal manner,” Lavrov said.
