Trump win ignites crypto frenzy that sends bitcoin to a record high

The price of bitcoin hit a new high Wednesday and crypto-related shares rallied as investors bet that Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election will be a boon for cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin jumped nearly 8 percent in early trading, climbing above $75,000 and smashing its previous record set in March. Other cryptocurrencies also soared, including ether, the world's second most popular cryptocurrency after bitcoin, which rallied 8 percent.

Another token, dogecoin, rocketed as much as 18 percent. It's the favorite cryptocurrency of billionaire Elon Musk, one of Trump's most prominent supporters.

Crypto-related shares outran the rest of the stock market. Coinbase, one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges, leaped 17 percent. Online brokerage Robinhood Markets, which offers crypto trading, soared 12 percent and MicroStrategy, which says it is the “largest corporate holder of bitcoin,” jumped 10 percent.

Trump was previously a crypto skeptic but changed his mind and embraced cryptocurrencies ahead of the election.

He has pledged to make America "the crypto capital of the planet" and create a “strategic reserve” of bitcoin. His campaign accepted donations in cryptocurrency and he courted crypto fans at a bitcoin conference in July. He also launched World Liberty Financial, a new venture with family members to trade cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is up 77 percent this year.

“Bitcoin is the one asset that was always going to soar if Trump returned to the White House," said Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, a British online investment platform. After touching its new high, the market is now speculating about “when, not if, it will smash through $100,000," he said.

“Trump has already declared his love of the digital currency and crypto traders now have a new narrative by which to get even more excited about where the price could go,” Mould said.

But other experts warned of the risks.

“Investors should only dabble in crypto with money that they can be prepared to lose,” said Susannah Streeter, head of money and markets at Hargreaves Lansdown. “Because we’ve seen these wild swings in the past.”

Crypto industry players welcomed Trump's victory, in hopes that he would be able to push through legislative and regulatory changes that they've long lobbied for.

Trump had already promised that, if elected, he would remove the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Gary Gensler, who has been leading the U.S. government’s crackdown on the crypto industry.

“Tonight the crypto voter has spoken decisively — across party lines and in key races across the country,” said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong . “Americans disproportionately care about crypto and want clear rules of the road for digital assets. We look forward to working with the new Congress to deliver it,” Armstrong posted on X.

Streeter said Trump's administration would most likely pursue “light touch regulation” for the crypto industry.

“Certainly that’s what crypto fans would want," she said. “They want the sheen of legitimacy to be brought to crypto, but they don’t want regulations to be too onerous to stop opportunities and innovation.”

In his first interview with an international broadcaster, Mr Ri provides a rare understanding of what one of the world’s most secretive and repressive states is hoping to achieve.

He says that North Korea still views Mr Trump as someone it can negotiate with over its nuclear weapons programme, despite talks between him and Kim Jong Un breaking down in 2019.

Mr Trump has previously hailed the relationship with Kim as a key achievement of his presidency. He famously said the two “fell in love” exchanging letters. Just last month, he told a rally Mr Kim would like to see him back in office: “I think he misses me, if you want to know the truth.”

North Korea is hoping it can use this close personal relationship to its advantage, says Mr Ri, contradicting an official statement from Pyongyang last month that it “did not care” who became president.

But he says Pyongyang would not negotiate in good faith. Agreeing to freeze its nuclear programme “would be a ploy, 100% deception”, he says, adding that this was therefore a “dangerous approach” which would “only lead to the strengthening of North Korea”.

Michael Fanone knows how many of you feel today. He’s felt it for years.

The former D.C. police officer, beaten by Trump supporters as he defended the U.S. Capitol, will no longer defend America.

IN THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS — Michael Fanone leaped off the couch and lumbered toward his fridge, retrieving his fifth (or sixth?) beer. He glanced at the TV, took a sip of Sapporo and offered his first thought on a second Donald Trump presidency.

“Better f—ing arm yourselves.”

His tone was somehow both furious and serene. He saw this coming, and on Tuesday night some in America were starting to arrive at the place he’d already been living for the past 46 months. “I didn’t vote for that motherf-er,” he said, “and I fought tooth and nail to prevent this day from f-ing coming.”

He’d learned about more than 300 “deep state” enemies that Trump’s self-described “secretary of retribution” had compiled in a target list, as Raw Story first reported; Fanone says he saw his name on it. If Trump wants him imprisoned, he’d rather be killed in a shootout. “I’ll die right here on my f-ing house,” he said. “I’m not going to be in some ‘Apprentice’ f-ing military tribunal.” Fanone insists that he’s not some “prepper weirdo,” that he’s just someone who understands how law enforcement can be weaponized against people — “and I fully expect that to happen.”

Fanone, 44, has spent the past few years trying to tell people about what it was like to defend the Capitol as a member of D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department on Jan. 6, 2021. How he’d joined officers in an underground tunnel, using his body as a shield between the rioters and the House and Senate chambers. How he’d been stripped of his badge, his radio, his ammunition and, nearly, his gun, which the rioters threatened to kill him with as he pleaded “I’ve got kids.” How he’d been repeatedly Tasered and eventually pummeled unconscious, waking up in a hospital to learn he’d suffered a heart attack, a concussion and a traumatic brain injury.

He’d testified before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, describing how the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, had inspired him to join law enforcement. He’d written a book called “Hold the Line: The Insurrection and One Cop’s Battle for America’s Soul.” He’d toured the country telling crowds about what he’d seen, to issue a warning about political violence. He’d received a Congressional Gold Medal from Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) and the Presidential Citizens Medal from President Joe Biden. Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Mississippi), the chair of the Jan. 6 committee, had promised Fanone and his comrades that “history will remember your names and your actions.”

Whatever. As Pennsylvania’s vote count tilted toward Trump, it all now seemed like a waste of time. “Those are hours, days and weeks of my life that I’ll never get back. I would have better spent them f—ing watching Pornhub,” he said.

Fanone had concluded, long before a single vote had been cast in the general election, that what unfolded at the Capitol that day hadn’t been some grand MAGA finale, but “just the f—ing beginning.”

Fanone did not want to watch election returns with me. “I don’t have anything good to say about anybody,” he explained over the phone last week. “I’m bitter. I’m angry. I feel like my country betrayed me.” (This is last week, mind you.) Then he reluctantly agreed, but nearly backed out when The Washington Post declined to endorse a presidential candidate; he spent a good chunk of Tuesday evening railing against Jeff Bezos, The Post’s owner.

Fanone’s house is on the peak of a Blue Ridge mountain, at the top of a zigzag of steep grades. He’d moved in a year ago after trading his one-bedroom apartment in Alexandria, Virginia, for nearly 50 miles of space between himself and the Capitol. Buddy, Fanone’s coonhound, barreled down the steps to greet me, jumping up on hind legs. This is the home of a man who lives alone: leather sectional, animal-hide carpet, beer fridge. A blow-up poster of his Time magazine cover hangs on a wall — headline: “THE AFTERMATH” — across the room from a bookshelf displaying his Jan. 6-related medals and awards.

“The aftermath.” It sounded so quaint now.

He tuned his television to NBC and sank into the couch, Sapporo in hand. Fanone said he’s had seven traumatic brain injuries — all sustained during his 20 years on the force — and acknowledged that it probably isn’t wise to drink.

“A friend of mine told me you’re supposed to pick something you love,” he said, “and let it kill you.”

Fanone looks the same as he did when he testified on Capitol Hill more than three years ago: silver-haired, bearded and brawny. On Tuesday, he wore a dark green T-shirt, jeans and camo Crocs. He’d left the police force not long after he’d testified to Congress in July 2021. Then he worked on the book and traveled with Courage for America, an organization founded in the aftermath of the insurrection that aims to prevent another one. When he came back, he’d tried to get a job — at Walmart, at Costco, at Cabela’s — and nothing came through.

“No one gives you a reason, but it’s pretty obvious,” he said, alluding to his belief that half the country thinks he’s a traitor. Now he runs his own private security business.

He’d had a contract with CNN that expired late last year, but it wasn’t renewed. Fine by Fanone. He’d hoped the platform would help him lead a conversation about policing in America. Instead, he was livid at the news organization for allowing contributors and guests to “espouse conspiracy theories and bulls— in the name of access.” He was so outraged over CNN’s decision to hold a town hall with Trump that he’d published an op-ed about it in Rolling Stone. The headline: “CNN is hosting a town hall for a guy who tried to get me killed.” He was never again asked to appear on the network, he says. Fanone got a pair of tattoos across the top of his hands to commemorate his departure: “I’ll take the money, but these fools don’t own me.”

Shell Galaxies in Pisces

This spectacular intergalactic skyscape features Arp 227, a curious system of galaxies from the 1966 Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies. Some 100 million light-years distant within the boundaries of the constellation Pisces, Arp 227 consists of the two galaxies prominent above and left of center, the shell galaxy NGC 474 and its blue, spiral-armed neighbor NGC 470. The readily apparent shells and star streams of NGC 474 are likely tidal features originating from the accretion of another smaller galaxy during close gravitational encounters that began over a billion years ago. The large galaxy on the bottom righthand side of the deep image, NGC 467, appears to be surrounded by faint shells and streams too, evidence of another merging galaxy system. Intriguing background galaxies are scattered around the field that also includes spiky foreground stars. Of course, those stars lie well within our own Milky Way Galaxy. The telescopic field of view spans 25 arc minutes or just under 1/2 degree on the sky.

X-59 Fires Up its Engine for First Time on its Way to Takeoff

NASA’s Quesst mission marked a major milestone with the start of tests on the engine that will power the quiet supersonic X-59 experimental aircraft.

These engine-run tests, which began Oct. 30, allow the X-59 team to verify the aircraft’s systems are working together while powered by its own engine.

In previous tests, the X-59 used external sources for power. The engine-run tests set the stage for the next phase of the experimental aircraft’s progress toward flight.

The X-59 team is conducting the engine-run tests in phases. In this first phase, the engine rotated at a relatively low speed without ignition to check for leaks and ensure all systems are communicating properly.

The team then fueled the aircraft and began testing the engine at low power, with the goal of verifying that it and other aircraft systems operate without anomalies or leaks while on engine power.

“The first phase of the engine tests was really a warmup to make sure that everything looked good prior to running the engine,” said Jay Brandon, NASA’s X-59 chief engineer.

“Then we moved to the actual first engine start. That took the engine out of the preservation mode that it had been in since installation on the aircraft.

It was the first check to see that it was operating properly and that all the systems it impacted – hydraulics, electrical system, environmental control systems, etc. – seemed to be working.”

The X-59 will generate a quieter thump rather than a loud boom while flying faster than the speed of sound.

The aircraft is the centerpiece of NASA’s Quesst mission, which will gather data on how people perceive these thumps, providing regulators with information that could help lift current bans on commercial supersonic flight over land.

The engine, a modified F414-GE-100, packs 22,000 pounds of thrust, which will enable the X-59 to achieve the desired cruising speed of Mach 1.4 (925 miles per hour) at an altitude of approximately 55,000 feet.

It sits in a nontraditional spot – atop the aircraft — to aid in making the X-59 quieter.

Engine runs are part of a series of integrated ground tests needed to ensure safe flight and successful achievement of mission goals.

Because of the challenges involved with reaching this critical phase of testing, the X-59’s first flight is now expected in early 2025.

The team will continue progressing through critical ground tests and address any technical issues discovered with this one-of-a-kind, experimental aircraft.

The X-59 team will have a more specific first flight date as these tests are successfully completed.

The testing is taking place at Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works facility in Palmdale, California.

During later phases, the team will test the aircraft at high power with rapid throttle changes, followed by simulating the conditions of an actual flight.

“The success of these runs will be the start of the culmination of the last eight years of my career,” said Paul Dees, NASA’s deputy propulsion lead for the X-59.

“This isn’t the end of the excitement but a small steppingstone to the beginning.

It’s like the first note of a symphony, where years of teamwork behind the scenes are now being put to the test to prove our efforts have been effective, and the notes will continue to play a harmonious song to flight.”

After the engine runs, the X-59 team will move to aluminum bird testing, where data will be fed to the aircraft under both normal and failure conditions.

The team will then proceed with a series of taxi tests, where the aircraft will be put in motion on the ground. These tests will be followed by final preparations for first flight.

NASA gives health update on astronauts mysteriously hospitalized after space mission

NASA today insisted stranded astronaut Sunita Williams is safe and healthy amid growing public concern for her health.

But the space agency again refused to give any details about four astronauts who were mysteriously hospitalized late last month after returning from a separate space mission.

A doctor raised concerns about Williams this week after a photo showed her looking 'gaunt', suggesting she had lost a significant amount of weight after spending more than 150 days stuck on the International Space Station.

But NASA holds firm that Williams and the rest of the astronauts aboard the ISS are doing fine.

'All NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station undergo routine medical evaluations, have dedicated flight surgeons monitoring them, and are in good health,' NASA spokesperson Jimi Russell told DailyMail.com.

Concern over Williams came less than two weeks after the hospitalization of four NASA/SpaceX Crew-8 astronauts, who splashed down off the coast of Florida on October 25. The crew had spent 232 days aboard the ISS.

One of them was hospitalized overnight due to a 'medical issue', while the other three were discharged that same day after undergoing medical evaluations.

NASA refused to provide any details about why the crew was hospitalized, which astronaut had to complete an overnight stay, or whether the medical issues were related to their return to Earth.

The agency instead deferred DailyMail.com to a blog post from October 26.

The statement said that one of the astronauts stayed overnight at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola in Florida, but was 'in good health and will resume normal post-flight reconditioning with other crew members' after being discharged.

NASA's decision not to disclose who that astronaut was or reveal details about his or her condition was made 'to protect the crew member's medical privacy.'

While the agency has repeatedly expressed confidence in the wellbeing of its astronauts, studies have shown that living in space takes a toll on human health.

This is especially true of long-term ISS missions, which typically last six months.

Space is a harsh environment that causes astronauts to lose body fat, muscle mass, bone density, and endure high doses of radiation.

This can lead to a range of health issues, including vision problems, kidney stones and even causing astronauts to become more vulnerable to infections on the ISS.

Williams and her crewmate, Barry Wilmore, have been aboard the ISS for six months as of today, and will remain there until February 2025 at the earliest.

By then, they will be able to catch a ride back to Earth on SpaceX's Crew-9 mission Dragon Capsule.

The photo of Williams, taken on September 24, shows her tucking into a pepperoni pizza and chips while surrounded by condiments and other treats.

'Her cheeks appear a bit sunken - and usually it happens when you've had sort of total body weight loss,' Dr Vinay Gupta, a pulmonologist in Seattle, told DailyMail.com.

'I think what I can discern by her face and her cheeks being sunken in is that [she] has probably been at a significant [calorie] deficit for a while.'

Weight loss is not uncommon among astronauts during extended ISS missions. In fact, most lose about five percent of their bodyweight during a four to six month stay aboard the orbiting laboratory, according to the Lunar and Planetary Institute.

Dr Gupta told DailyMail.com: 'What you're seeing there in that picture is somebody that I think is experiencing the natural stresses of living at a very high altitude, even in a pressurized cabin, for extended periods.'

'Based on what I'm at least seeing in the photo, I don't think she's quite at a… place where I say her life's in danger,' he added.

'But I don't think you can look at that photo and say she has sort of healthy body weight.

As for Crew-9, which included NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, and Jeanette Epps, as well as Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, it's possible that their health suffered during their ISS stay as well.

The four astronauts spent 232 days - or nearly eight months - aboard the ISS. It's reasonable to believe that the stress their bodies endured during that time may have resulted in the need for medical attention upon their return to Earth.

Alternatively, some have speculated that something went awry during the crew's descent, despite NASA's statement that the crew 'safely splashed down aboard their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft.'

The fact that all four astronauts received some form of medical attention does suggest that the health issues were somehow related to their return flight.

This is one of those rare examples where I find myself in agreement with the president, at least conceptually.

25 million people in California face ‘life-threatening’ fire warning

Powerful winds that fueled fast-moving wildfires across Southern California this week are expected to pick up momentum on Thursday –– worsening conditions for firefighters who are already battling limited visibility to save lives.

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag warning until 6 p.m. Thursday – which is used to describe “extreme and life-threatening fire behavior.” The warning is expected to affect 25 million people in Southern California and the greater San Francisco Bay area.

Earlier this week, forecasters warned conditions appear concerningly similar to those responsible for “some of the worst fires in Southern California history.”

All schools in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, have been closed through Friday due to the fires.

Here’s the latest:

Ventura County’s Mountain Fire expanded in size on Wednesday after powerful Santa Ana winds came into contact with very dry air. The blaze is now moving at a “dangerous rate of spread,” Ventura County Fire Chief Dustin Gardner said at a news conference Wednesday, burning agricultural fields and hedgerows in the area.

At least 800 firefighters and 58 fire engines have been deployed to contain the Mountain Fire on South Mountain. It has been unsafe for helicopters to operate, Fire Captain Trevor Johnson said in a news conference.

Footage obtained by CNN from the town of Camarillo Hills shows orange embers searing through trees and homes late Wednesday, with structures barely recognizable and many burned to the ground.

Officials haven’t determined the number of structures that have been damaged. In a statement announcing Federal Emergency Management Agency support for fire rescuers, California Gov. Gavin Newsom estimated roughly 3,500 homes, structures, and businesses have been affected by the Mountain Fire.

At least two people have been transported to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

As of Thursday morning, California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection estimated the Mountain Fire has burned at 14,148 acres with 0% containment. More than 14,000 people remain under evacuation orders, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), the University in collaboration with the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Science (AUASS) and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organisation (APSCO), organised an international symposium on developments in space communications, themed “The Regional Balance and Challenges.”

This two-day event, supported by the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Science, and Technology (SAASST) and the Inter-Islamic Network on Space Science and Technology (ISNET), aims to improve the usage of space resources in the Asia-Pacific region and foster a common understanding of space communications among the Member States.

The symposium featured a series of scientific sessions discussing over 25 research papers and included eight training workshops led by a group of experts, researchers, and specialists in astronomy and space sciences.

The sessions of the symposium covered various topics, including the applications of artificial intelligence in space communication, space law, Arab space cooperation, and the security risks and vulnerabilities of nano-satellite communication systems.

Additionally, the symposium addressed the expansion of international cooperation to develop space communications, the role of AUASS in promoting education and scientific research in space and astronomy, trends in the global satellite communications market and technology, as well as the competitive aspects of space communication and their impact on future telecommunications regulations.

Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah and Director-General of SAASST, welcomed the distinguished guests and participants, expressing his deep gratitude and appreciation to H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, for his continuous support and guidance.

He emphasised that this symposium serves as a source of inspiration and opens new avenues for collaboration in the fields of space sciences, communications, and technology, with participation from more than 15 countries, including representatives from the National Space Science Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Emirates Space Agency, and the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority.

He also noted that the University of Sharjah is committed to educating the new generation in the fields of astronomy and space sciences by offering a range of academic programs, such as the Master of Science in Astronomy and Space Sciences, the Master in Air and Space Law, and, in the near future, a PhD programme in Space Science and Technology.

Xu Yansong, Director-General of APSCO, added, “In our increasingly interconnected world, effective space communication systems are essential for fostering international collaboration, enhancing scientific research, and bridging the digital divide.

This symposium aims to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, collaboration, and innovation.

By highlighting successful regional initiatives that can serve as models for others, engaging in discussions, sharing insights, and exploring potential collaborations, we can forge partnerships that promote the greater good of humanity.”

Dr. Awni Al-Khasawneh, Secretary-General of AUASS, highlighted that the forum began with a two-day preliminary short training course on “Frequency and Orbital Elements in Satellite Design (ITU Regulations and International Standards),” which focused on enhancing practical skills and knowledge on various topics related to space communications.

He further explained that AUASS is committed to training Arab professionals by organising such events and conferences aimed at advancing astronomy and space sciences in the Arab region.

During the symposium, participants had the opportunity to watch a special show at the Sharjah Planetarium, which addressed the contribution of technology to improving space communication and the role of satellites in this field.

They also enjoyed stargazing and interactive telescope activities, allowing them to explore the stars and planets, further enriching their experience.

These activities are part of SAASST’s efforts to promote scientific culture. The symposium was concluded with the honouring of participants in the scientific sessions.

SpaceX's Dragon is about to do something to the ISS it's never done before

SpaceX will boost the space station for the first time Friday (Nov. 8), as the company prepares to eventually kill the orbiting complex.

A Dragon cargo spacecraft docked to the International Space Station (ISS) will fire its engines for 12.5 minutes on Friday (Nov. 8), NASA officials said at a press conference Monday (Nov. 4).

Other spacecraft have done this before, but it will be a first for a SpaceX capsule — and an important precursor to a bigger Dragon vehicle that will one day drive the ISS to its demise.

"The data that we're going to collect from this reboost and attitude control demonstration will be very helpful … and this data is going to lead to future capability, mainly the U.S deorbit vehicle," Jared Metter, director of flight reliability at SpaceX, told reporters at the livestreamed teleconference.

In July, SpaceX was tasked as the company to deorbit the ISS no earlier than 2030, once new commercial space stations are ready to step in for the ageing complex.

SpaceX will use a monster Dragon for the effort, so the planned ISS reboost using the current generation of Dragon will be useful.

The ISS is in low Earth orbit, roughly 250 miles (400 km) above our planet. Stray molecules of Earth's atmosphere combine to drag the six-bedroom complex down over time, making it necessary to use spacecraft to "reboost" or push the space station to a higher altitude.

Traditionally, Russian Soyuz spacecraft have fulfilled that reboost capability, but things are changing rapidly.

Russia remains a partner in the ISS after its unsanctioned invasion of Ukraine in 2022; even though most other international space agreements ruptured, the ISS is a policy project and cannot operate as independent bits, NASA has emphasized.

Russia plans to forge ahead with its own space station no earlier than 2028, which so far is before the rest of the ISS partnership's commitments cease in 2030.

Should Russia pull away, this means that other vehicles will need to step in for Soyuz. NASA already tested boosting with a Northrop Grumman Cygnus cargo craft in 2022. Now it's SpaceX's turn.

"It's a good demonstration," Metter said of the reboost. He did not immediately have the expected delta v, or the impulse per unit of spacecraft mass that the maneuver would impart, but emphasized the duration would be enough to "gather a lot of data" for the U.S. deorbit vehicle.

SpaceX's historic push of the ISS will take place in the wake of several company hardware issues, which NASA and the company say are unrelated. These have led to problems during Falcon 9 rocket launches and landings, along with a Dragon splashdown, in recent weeks.

All problems were resolved quickly with no impact to crew or public safety, and NASA officials expressed confidence in SpaceX's capabilities after working alongside the company to scrutinize its performance.

"We work very closely with SpaceX on everything that we do relative to these Dragon launches.

They share data with us very freely, and we work through all the issues jointly," Bill Spetch, operations and integration manager of NASA's ISS program, told reporters at the Monday teleconference.

"We obviously always maintain a top priority on the safety of the vehicles coming to ISS, and so that really hasn't changed for us," he added.

The Falcon 9 rocket, which is the most prolific and successful booster in history, had three launch issues between mid-July and late September.

The first issue on July 11 saw 20 SpaceX Starlink Internet satellites lost after an upper-stage propellant leak.

Falcon 9 returned to flight two weeks later after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which oversees regulatory activities in launches, approved SpaceX's plan.

On Aug. 28, Falcon 9 experienced a second issue; its first stage did not land as designed after a Starlink launch that was otherwise successful.

SpaceX returned to flight three days later, but on Sept. 28, Falcon 9 was grounded for a third time after an upper stage issue when it was launching the Crew-9 astronaut ISS mission for NASA.

The rocket was once again kept on Earth for two weeks, save for an FAA-granted exception to launch Europe's Hera asteroid-inspection probe on Oct. 7.

Falcon 9 returned to flight Oct. 11 and has launched successfully several times in recent weeks.
