Jon Voight: ‘I Only Have a Few Years Left, I Want to Spend Them Trying to Save Our American Way of Life’

Oscar-winning actor and conservative firebrand Jon Voight said, “I only have a few years left, and I want to spend them trying to save our American way of life.”

Asked in a wide-ranging interview with Variety if he is proud of receiving the National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medal from former President Donald Trump in 2019, Voight replied, “I don’t care about all that stuff. I only have a few years left, and I want to spend them trying to save our American way of life.”

“It’s slipping away forever,” the Midnight Cowboy star added.

After being asked if he believes President Trump is the equal of Abraham Lincoln in the pantheon of American presidents, Voight replied, “Absolutely. Who else has faced greater challenges and enemies since Lincoln?”

The actor, who has supported Trump since he first announced his candidacy in 2015, went on to suggest that the 45th president surviving an assassination attempt is a sign.

“There’s a prophet who predicted there was going to be an attempt on his life,” he said. “He was going to go to his knees, and during the moment he was on his knees, he was going to connect with God.”

Vought also said that there is an evil spreading across the world through people like George Soros.

Variety then suggested to Voight that “both sides” need to turn down the heat — a common argument among the political left in an apparent effort to point fingers at the other side and downplay the violent rhetoric they have spewed over the past nine years, which many believe is what led to the assassination attempt against Trump.

“Well, that’s your opinion,” Voight told Variety. “I’m very careful about what I say. But when I see the attacks on this man, I know they’re coming from a hateful, evil place.”

“I’ve been the most outspoken supporter of Donald Trump in Hollywood,” he added. “I’ve been saying he’s the answer, the only answer.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Voight, who has also been outspokenly pro-Israel, said that his daughter, Angelina Jolie, had backed the Palestinians because she was “influenced by antisemitic people.”

“She has been exposed to propaganda,” he said. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the U.N., and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”

@realDonaldTrump , @DanScavino and many others keep putting "the graphic" out there as if it is still quite significant! Yes, I know that the Boss attributes the graphic as likely being the reason he's still standing, but I just felt like there must be more to it!

Then, as I scoured and studied it, again, for the umpteenth time, I caught it!!!

At the very bottom of the graphic, the part that DJT keeps referring to, it plainly says, "Trump Leaves Office" in red lettering. And there is a red arrow pointing to the space between April 2020 and May 2020!

But, officially, Trump wouldn't leave office until Noon, January 20, 2021!

Either this is a major mistake (highly unlikely) or the Military Occupation Operation under Continuity of Gov't Orders, began at the end of April, 2020!

Of the 15 presidents that The Fix found data on, 14 gave to Democrats, including 12 who gave exclusively and two who gave primarily to Democrats but also donated smaller amounts to Republicans; only one donated only to Republicans. That amounts to about 93 percent donating to Democratic campaigns, according to the analysis.

Information for the analysis came from the Federal Election Commission and the nonpartisan campaign research group Open Secrets, as well as individual state government campaign finance reports. Searches were conducted using the individuals’ names, including maiden and middle names, and current and past employers.

The Fix’s analysis includes donations records from 2002 to 2024. Donations were classified according to the listed party of the candidate or campaign.

Today, the Department of Defense (DOD) released its 2024 DOD Arctic Strategy. This is the first update to DOD's approach to the region since 2019.

"The Arctic region of the United States is critical to the defense of our homeland, the protection of U.S. national sovereignty, and the preservation of our defense treaty commitments," said Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks. "Our Arctic strategy will guide the Department's efforts to ensure that the Arctic remains a secure and stable region."

The 2024 DOD Arctic Strategy lays out steps DOD will take, working alongside our Allies and partners, to preserve the Arctic as a secure and stable region in which the U.S. Homeland is defended and our vital national interests are safeguarded. It builds upon guidance laid out in the 2022 National Security Strategy and 2022 National Defense Strategy and is part of DODs effort to implement the 2022 National Strategy for the Arctic Region.

"This strategy is very action oriented, which distinguishes it from previous Arctic Strategies" Deputy Assistant Secretary for Arctic & Global Resilience Iris Ferguson said. "We unpack where we need to sustain our investments, especially in critical capabilities. What do we have to see? How do we communicate? Do we have the right equipment to operate in the region? My office exists to champion these capabilities, which are vital to the successful implementation of our strategy."

The Arctic region is undergoing rapid change, both strategically and physically. The People's Republic of China (PRC), which remains DOD's pacing challenge, seeks increasing access and influence in the Arctic, while Russia remains an acute threat in the region despite its losses in Ukraine. Increasingly, these two competitors are collaborating in the Arctic with implications for the security of the United States and our Allies and partners. At the same time, Finland and Sweden's historic decision to join NATO brings all like-minded Arctic states into the NATO Alliance and presents new opportunities for collaboration and cooperation. All of this is underscored by the impact of climate change on the Arctic, which is warming at least three times faster than the rest of the world and increasingly opening to more human activity.

To address this dynamic security environment, DOD will adopt a "monitor-and-respond" approach to the Arctic, supported by robust domain awareness cooperation with our highly capable Allies and partners, and underpinned by the deterrent value of DOD's ability to deploy the Joint Force globally at the time and place of our choosing. The ways DOD will execute this approach are grouped into three main lines of effort:

DOD will enhance its capabilities to campaign in the Arctic especially its domain awareness, communications, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities.

DOD will engage with Allies and partners to uphold defense and deterrence in the Arctic, build interoperability, and increase its understanding of how to operate in the region.

DOD will exercise calibrated presence in the Arctic by regularly training in the region and conducting routine operations critical to upholding deterrence and homeland defense.

Engineering teams with NASA and Boeing recently completed ground hot fire testing of a Starliner reaction control system thruster at White Sands Test Facility in New Mexico. The test series involved firing the engine through similar in-flight conditions the spacecraft experienced during its approach to the space station, as well as various stress-case firings for what is expected during Starliner’s undocking and the deorbit burn that will position the spacecraft for a landing in the southwestern United States. Teams are analyzing the data from these tests, and leadership plans to discuss initial findings during the briefing.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams arrived at the orbiting laboratory on June 6, after lifting off aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on June 5. Since their arrival, the duo has been integrated with the Expedition 71 crew, performing scientific research and maintenance activities as needed.

As part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, the mission is an end-to-end test of the Starliner system. Following a successful return to Earth, NASA will begin the process of certifying Starliner for rotational missions to the International Space Station. The FBI conducted a pre-dawn raid on the $3.5 million Long Island home ofLinda Sun, a former deputy chief of staff to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The lavish five-bedroom home, located in a gated community called Stone Hill in Long Island, was searched thoroughly by agents, though it remains undisclosed whether any items were seized during the operation.

Sources told the New York Post that the search warrant was issued by the US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, although officials there have remained tight-lipped, declining any comment on the ongoing investigation.

The reason for the raid remains unclear and neither Sun nor her husband, Chris Hu, have been accused of any criminal activity. No arrests were made during the operation.

Sun has had a long career in various government roles across New York State. Her tenure includes working under both Governor Hochul and ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo.

In September 2021, Sun was appointed deputy chief of staff to Hochul. At the time, she was the highest-appointed Asian-American in the administration.

Sun’s husband, Chris Hu, operates a high-end liquor store in Flushing, Queens called Leivine Wine & Spirits. He has also incorporated several businesses over the past decade — including one at the start of the COVID pandemic called Medical Supplies USA LLC, according to the New York Times.

Claims that Moscow is trying to interfere with US elections are false, Ambassador Anatoly Antonov has said

The FBI is using a supposed ‘threat’ to American democracy from Russia as a diversion to draw public attention away from the bureau’s own failures, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov claimed on Thursday.

He was responding to allegations made by FBI Director Christopher Wray, who claimed before Congress on Wednesday that Moscow had been attempting to interfere in the US “election cycle after election cycle,” in particular, during the current race for the White House.

“We assess that the Russian government continues to want to influence and in various ways interfere with our democracy, with our electoral process,” Wray told lawmakers, claiming that investigators had recently uncovered a “significant disruption of a generative AI-enhanced social media” of Russian origin, which was “designed to be an influence operation.”

Antonov dismissed Wray’s allegations, describing them as “yet another unsuccessful example of blame-shifting.” He said this was a policy that is often utilized by both the FBI director and other American officials.

“These are obviously yet more attempts to play the ‘Russian card’ to justify their own failures,” he stated, adding that “it is understandable” that representatives of the US administration “want to divert the attention of ordinary citizens from their mistakes and the numerous internal contradictions in America.”

"We flatly reject insinuations against Russia. Our country has never interfered in democratic processes. Moscow has always respected and will always respect the choice of the American people."

Antonov suggested that, in order to find those responsible for the problems within the US, Wray and other Washington officials “should look at their reflection in the mirror.”

Wray’s testimony on Wednesday was largely focused on the investigation into the assassination attempt on former US President and Republican nominee for this year’s election, Donald Trump. The attempt on Trump’s life during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13 caused public outcry, with Republicans lambasting the US Secret Service for failing to protect the presidential nominee. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was forced to resign earlier this week, having admitted that Trump’s attempted assassination was “the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades.”

Wray is not the first Washington official to make allegations of Russian interference in the US electoral process. During the 2016 and 2020 elections, US intelligence agencies repeatedly claimed that Moscow had deployed hackers and used disinformation to affect the vote in favor of Trump. Earlier this month, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) alleged that Russia had launched a “whole-of-government” effort “to shape electoral outcomes” in this year’s election to turn public opinion against President Joe Biden. - The mission gathered unprecedented detail of airglow, showed a relationship between the atmosphere’s ions and Earth’s magnetic field lines, and provided the first concrete observation to confirm Earth’s long-theorized ionospheric dynamo.

- Nearly a year after ICON accomplished its primary mission, communication was lost in November 2022 for unclear reasons.

NASA formally concluded the mission after several months of troubleshooting could not regain contact.

After contributing to many important findings on the boundary between Earth’s atmosphere and space — an area where space weather can interfere with both satellites and communications signals — NASA’s ICON (Ionospheric Connection Explorer) mission has come to an end.

The mission launched in October 2019 and completed its two-year mission objectives in December 2021, before going on to operate as an extended mission for another year.

“The ICON mission has truly lived up to its name,” said ​​Joseph Westlake, heliophysics division director at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

“Not only did ICON successfully complete and exceed its primary mission objectives, it also provided critical insights into the ionosphere and the interplay between space and terrestrial weather.”

The ICON spacecraft orbited in a part of our planet’s outermost layer of the atmosphere, called the ionosphere, where it studied what events impact the ionosphere, including Earth’s weather from below and space weather from above.

The ionosphere is the lowest boundary of space, located between 55 miles to 360 miles above Earth’s surface.

It is made up of a sea of particles that have been ionized: a mix of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons called plasma.

This frontier of space is a dynamic and busy region, home to many satellites — including the International Space Station — and is a conduit for radio communications and GPS signals.

Both satellites and signals can be disrupted by the complex interactions of terrestrial and space weather, so studying and understanding the ionosphere is crucial to understanding space weather and its effects on our technology.

The ICON mission captured unprecedented data about the ionosphere with direct measurements of the charged gas in its immediate surroundings alongside images of one of the ionosphere's most stunning features — airglow.

ICON tracked the colorful bands as they moved through the ionosphere. Airglow is created by a process similar to what creates the aurora.

However, airglow occurs around the world, not just at the northern and southern latitudes where auroras are typically found.

Although airglow is normally dim, ICON’s instruments were specially designed to capture even the faintest glow in order to build a picture of the ionosphere’s density, composition, and structure.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee is showing signs of momentum in the days since President Biden decided not to run for a second term.

But strong fundraising, a well-attended rally, and endorsements from virtually every major Democrat not named Barack Obama haven’t translated to faith among the general public that Kamala Harris can win — at least not yet.

In a poll of 1,605 people (1,435 of whom are registered voters) YouGov conducted between July 21 and 23 — a period that encompasses Biden’s announcement not to run and the quick coalescence of Democratic elites around Harris — only 31% think the vice president has what it takes to earn a promotion this year.

And there’s no gender gap in pessimism about Harris’ prospects — that 31% applies to both males and females.

Conversely, 52% of respondents see Trump as the likely winner.

Democrats, predictably, give Harris whatever boost she can claim in this metric, with 67% of people in her own party saying the veep will win, another 14% predicting a Trump victory and the rest unsure.

GOP registrants are much more sold on their candidate’s viability.

Just 3% of Republicans surveyed expect Harris to win, while 91% think the race in November is Trump’s to lose.

Independents also seem to think Trump is inevitable, with 53% of unaligned voters believing he’ll emerge victorious, versus just 23% of indys who believe Harris will win.

One significant cohort believes Harris has what it takes, though — and they just happen to be, historically, the key to Democratic chances in national elections.

Forty-five percent of black respondents believe Harris will win, while just 33% predict a Trump triumph.

While voters may not believe Harris can win, it doesn’t mean they aren’t supporting her.

When asked about “presidential vote intent,” 41% of those polled back Harris — putting her just 3 points behind Trump, well inside the +/- 3.3% margin of error and tracking with polls from NPR and Marist that likewise show a race that is too close to call.

When it comes down to the other 15% in the YouGov survey, a third of them aren’t sure who they back, a third back Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the rest are dispersed among a smattering of marginal candidates.

Trump has effectively consolidated Republican respondents in this survey, taking 92% of them, with 3% backing Kennedy and 2% backing Harris.

Democrats are still more diffused for the time being.

While Harris has a respectable 86% support level in her own party, 5% aren’t sure who they back, while Kennedy takes 3% and Trump takes 2% of Dems.

Independents are still up for grabs, but YouGov’s sample says Trump holds serve — taking 37% of them to Harris’ 32%. Of the remainder, 11% support Kennedy and 9% are still undecided.

Harris has majority support among black voters (63% to 14% for Trump), Hispanics (44% to 40%) and — in a potentially important metric that could swing battleground states — self-described “moderates,” with a 41% to 31% lead over Trump.

As Democrats might hope, a gender gap is also emerging in the preference poll.

Grassley Releases Additional Bodycam Footage from Moments After Trump Assassination Attempt

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is making public the full extent of bodycam footage obtained from local law enforcement thus far and filmed in the hour following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Grassley obtained these videos from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit (ESU) in compliance with congressional requests. Grassley continues to review all records he receives in response to oversight requests issued to federal and local agencies and is making public all relevant records in the interest of transparency.

The videos show Beaver County ESU officers and United States Secret Service (USSS) personnel accessing the rooftop from where the shooter fired and gathering evidence in the immediate aftermath of the attack.

1-Communication btwn local & fed law enforcement was fragmented and delayed

2-Federal law enforcement seemed 2respond slowly 2 the potential detonator device found on shooter VERY risky
