Trump, bearing pizzas, met with cheers at Manhattan FDNY firehouse

Former President Donald Trump was greeted with cheers Thursday as he delivered pizzas to a Manhattan firehouse after spending the day in court.

Trump, 77, arrived at FDNY’s Engine Co. 8, Ladder Co. 2 in Midtown with two Xeno’s Pizza boxes in hand at around 5:30 p.m.

The campaign had dropped off 10 boxes of different pizzas, including pepperoni, for the hungry first responders prior to his arrival.

“You gotta win!” one firefighter told Trump as he met with the battalion.

“Sir, save us please,” another implored.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president chatted with the firefighters, posed for photos and signed a daybook and other items during the 10 minute campaign stop.

“I love you all – special people,” Trump wrote in the daybook, above his signature.

The pizza was long gone before The Post caught up the first responders that met Trump.

“It was good, we enjoyed it,” a firefighter told The Post. “It’s always special when a president shows up at your place of work.”

“He’s a nice guy for coming by,” he added, describing Trump as “very personable.”

“He speaks to you not at you,” the firefighter said of the former president.

When asked his opinion of President Biden, the firefighter responded, “He tries.”

FDNY spokesperson Jim Long told The Post that it was Trump’s second visit to the same firehouse.

“He was here in 2021 on Sept. 11,” Long said.

“There might be some nervousness out there with Trump coming to the firehouse but we’ve had several presidents, many electeds, people running for office all come by and visit,” he added.

The FDNY, which for decades has hosted presidents and political leaders from all parties, said it values any individual that shows support for firefighters.

“We appreciate whoever supports our members at the FDNY, no matter their political affiliation,” the department said in a statement.

The FDNY presented Trump with two hats before his departure, one with an “8” – in reference to the engine company – and one with a “2,” for the ladder company.

In stark contrast to Trump’s reception, New York Attorney General Letitia James was met with a chorus of boos during a speech at an FDNY promotion ceremony in March.

Chants of “Trump” broke out as James, a Democrat, addressed the crowd of firemen and their families.

James brought the civil fraud lawsuit against the former president in 2022 that resulted in a 9-figure judgment against Trump, which he is appealing.

Trump is currently on trial in Manhattan for alleged hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to the alleged payments to Daniels.

He has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on Friday for the 11th day of the unprecedented trial.

Four days ago, The Guardian reported that there was “excitement among patients and researchers” in the UK as “personalised mRNA vaccines” for cancer entered their phase 3 trial. On Monday, In Your Area published an article about a personalised mRNA skin cancer vaccine that may also be effective against lung, bladder and kidney cancer.

However, patients may be less excited about these “groundbreaking” injections when they read a paper published last week.

On 23 April, a pre-print paper (not yet peer-reviewed) was published in the journal Authorea that reviewed oncogenesis and autoimmunity caused by mRNA injections. It found that repeated mRNA injections reduce immune surveillance for cancer while at the same time inducing autoimmunity.

Oncogenesis or carcinogenesis is the process through which healthy cells become transformed into cancer cells.

Autoimmunity is an immune response resulting from a failure of our immune system to recognise our own cells and tissues as “self.”

The paper extensively reviewed the role of regulatory T cells (“Treg”) cells in the immune system, with a particular focus on the disruption of their behaviour caused by the mRNA injections.

Treg cells modulate the immune system, maintain tolerance to self-antigens and prevent autoimmune disease. Treg cells also suppress the immune response to cancer and have been shown to contribute to the development and progression of the disease.

The paper found that post-vaccination, the subsequent spike protein expression “may lead to a harmful influence on the immune system of vaccinees, and subsequent accelerated development of cancer and autoimmune disease.”

Although the paper specifically reviewed these conditions relating to covid mRNA injections, the concerns raised in the paper apply to all mRNA injections.

“Sadly, Moderna among many mRNA companies has plans for mRNA cancer drugs. They have a long drug development pathway to prove mRNA will not cause more cancer than it intends to treat,” Dr. Peter McCullough says.

Oncogenesis and Autoimmunity as a Result of mRNA Covid-19 Vaccination

Every cancer registry in the world is up with new cases and documented rapid progression of disease aptly termed “turbo cancer.” The trendline went up with the rollout of genetic covid-19 vaccines. What mechanism could explain an injection of Pfizer or Moderna mRNA and the genesis of cancer?

Kyriakopoulos et al have recently published a thorough investigation into the response by regulatory T-cells after encountering repeated injections of foreign mRNA.

An inappropriate homeostatic balance among T-effector, T-regulatory and memory T-regulatory cells can direct the immune system toward either cancer or autoimmunity. When cancer is present, Treg cells suppress anti-tumour immunity, and, when cancer is absent, Treg cells play the beneficial role of preventing the development of autoimmunity.

In this review, we analyse Treg responses after SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination and find distinct pathological responses under differing conditions. In cancer patients, the degree of disease progression depends on the cancer status at the time of vaccination and the type of cancer treatment they receive concurrently. We hypothesise that migration of circulating dendritic cells and mTreg cells back to the thymus accelerates thymic involution, a direct cause of immunosenescence.

In summary, the Treg responses produced after mRNA vaccination and the subsequent mRNA-encoded SARS-CoV-2 spike protein expression may lead to a harmful influence on the immune system of vaccinees, and subsequent accelerated development of cancer and autoimmune disease. These mechanisms are consistent with both epidemiological findings and case reports.

In other words, repeated injections of mRNA covid-19 vaccines are taking down immune surveillance for nascent malignant cells while at the same time inducing autoimmunity.

Skipping preclinical oncogenicity studies turned out to be a disaster for mRNA products. Concerns raised in this paper apply to any new mRNA product coding for a non-human or pathological protein target. Sadly, Moderna among many mRNA companies has plans for mRNA cancer drugs. They have a long drug development pathway to prove mRNA will not cause more cancer than it intends to treat.

Trump called the trial “bogus” and eviscerated the fact that “it could have been brought eight years ago…instead, they wait, and wait, and wait.” He slammed Judge Juan Merchan as “conflicted” and eviscerated the timing of the trial, which coincided with the GOP primary election and now, the general election.

“It should be illegal because it’s election interference,” he said.

The president then pivoted to talking about the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests and chaos unfolding on America’s campuses, praising “America’s finest” for working hard to clear out the troublemakers and encampments at Columbia University and UCLA.

“Just so you understand, this is the radical left, this is a movement from the left, not from the right. The right is not your problem, despite what, like, law enforcement likes to say…these are radical left lunatics, and they’ve got to be stopped now, because it’s going to go on and on and it’s going to be worse and worse, and you know, they take over countries, okay?”

He added, “And we’re not letting them take over the USA. We’re not letting the radical left MORONS take over this country.”

ARLINGTON, VA — In a press conference held this morning, Boeing sadly announced that a whistleblower had shot himself in the back while falling off a skyscraper directly into a wood chipper while wearing cement shoes.

Though the shocking incident is the second such death of a Boeing whistleblower in as many months, the company saw no correlation between the two terrible tragedies that were in no way the results of any type of foul play and were clearly instances of suicide.

At publishing time, Boeing had distributed a company-wide memo to all employees to warn them about the tragic effects of suicide and to keep their yappers shut if they knew what was good for them.

Prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office on Thursday urged Judge Juan Merchan to slap former President Donald Trump with four contempt charges for comments Trump made about his trial on charges of falsifying business records.

Under a gag order issued by Merchan, Trump is barred from talking about the witnesses and jurors in the trial. Merchan fined Trump $9,000 earlier this week for violations of the order and mused about whether jail would need to be the answer to stop the violations.

On Thursday, a hearing took place concerning four other comments for which the prosecution wants Trump punished, according to CBS.

Two of the comments concerned Michael Cohen, who was Trump’s lawyer at the time of the 2016 payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and will be a witness. One comment concerned former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker, who testified last week. The fourth comment prosecutors cited was a remark about the jurors.

Prosecutor Christopher Conroy said Trump violated the order in commenting that Pecker was “very nice.”

“The defendant knows what he’s doing. He talks about the witness, says nice things, does it in front of cameras,” Conroy said. “The [question] he answered was about the witness who was testifying. It was deliberate and it was calculated.”

Attorney Todd Blanche, who was representing Trump, said the remark was a “very fair and neutral answer” to a question.

“When you have President Trump saying something completely neutral about the witness, that’s not a violation,” Blanche said. Merchan said he was “not terribly concerned” about the comment.

Blanche said Cohen has been “inviting and almost daring President Trump to respond to everything he has been saying” through “personal attacks, mocking him for being on trial and comments about his candidacy.

“This is not a man that needs protection from the gag order,” Blanche said.

Blanche also responded to a comment from Trump that the jury was “95% Democrats.”

The dig “absolutely, positively” did not violate the order because no single juror was cited, Blanche argued.

Merchan did not issue an order on Thursday.

As he left court, Trump vented his frustration with the trial.

Israeli authorities have announced plans to construct a new concrete barrier to cut Palestinian villagers from their farmland.

The separation wall will span several kilometres, starting at the villages of Sinjil and Turmus-Aya in the central West Bank and ending near the entrance to the illegal Israeli settlement of Shiloh, south of Nablus.

If built, the wall will isolate the two Palestinian villages and appropriate over 30,000 dunams of their farmland.

What is "Chevron deference" …???

Looks like it's all about what the manufacturing industry regulations consider to be a SAUCE of pollution, specifically air pollution. So, this goes to the core of the CO2 argument.

Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc., 467 U.S. 837 (1984), was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court that set forth the legal test for when U.S. federal courts must defer to a government agency's interpretation of a law or statute.[1] The decision articulated a doctrine now known as "Chevron deference".[2] Chevron deference consists of a two-part test that is deferential to government agencies: first, whether Congress has spoken directly to the precise issue at question, and second, "whether the agency's answer is based on a permissible construction of the statute."

The decision involved a legal challenge to a change in the U.S. government's interpretation of the word "source" in the Clean Air Act of 1963. The Act did not precisely define what constituted a "source" of air pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initially defined "source" to cover essentially any significant change or addition to a plant or factory. In 1981, the EPA changed its definition to be mean only an entire plant or factory. This allowed companies to build new projects without going through the EPA's lengthy new review process if they simultaneously modified other parts of their plant to reduce emissions so that the overall change in the plant's emissions was zero. Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmentalist advocacy group, successfully challenged the legality of the EPA's new definition.[3]

Chevron is one of the most important decisions in U.S. administrative law. It has been cited in thousands of cases since its issuance in 1984.[4]

Thirty-nine years later, in May 2023, the Supreme Court granted certiorari to reevaluate Chevron. Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, No. 22-451. A decision is expected in the first half of 2024.[5]

The U.S. Supreme Court heard two cases last week that could mark the end of what observers have described as a four-decade “constitutional revolution” that began during the Reagan administration.

Specifically, decisions in the cases could substantially change how federal agencies are permitted to interpret laws passed by Congress by dramatically reigning in their ability to issue rules that have the binding effect of legislation.

According to Thomas M. Boyd, a former US assistant attorney general who served under President Ronald Reagan, Justice John Paul Stephens wrote an opinion in the case of Chevron U.S.A. v. National Resources Defense Council in 1984, midway through Reagan’s two terms, which started what legal scholar Gary Lawson would later describe as “nothing less than a bloodless constitutional revolution.”

The ruling fundamentally changed the way federal agencies could interpret laws they considered to be “ambiguous.” Following this decision, subsequent presidential administrations utilized it to enforce policies that effectively functioned as laws, often deviating from the exact wording of the legislation passed by Congress.

But now, Boyd noted in a column for the New York Post, “At long last, on Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear two cases that may signal the beginning of the end to that revolution.”

Boyd noted that Article I of the Constitution says explicitly, “All legislative power herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States”—not federal regulatory agencies.

However, he adds, Justice Stephens’ opinion found that “agenc[ies] may . . . properly rely upon the incumbent administration’s views of wise policy” in “reasonably” defining statutory ambiguities.

In simpler terms, Stephens believed that the Executive Branch, including presidents and their appointees, had the power to determine the specific interpretations of certain aspects of laws enacted by the Legislative Branch.

That, Boyd noted, was at the center of the Chevron decision and became known as the “Chevron defense, leading President Ronald Reagan’s White House counsel, Peter Wallison, to describe it as “the single most important reason the administrative state has continued to grow out of control.”

Boyd writes: “Forty years of regulatory and judicial tumult have ensued, finally crescendoing to a point that has compelled the Supreme Court to intervene.

Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, from the District of Columbia Circuit, and Relentless v. Department of Commerce, from the First Circuit, are now before the court. Both are companies that fish for herring in New England and are family-owned and operated, and both are subject to the Magnuson-Stevens Act, which governs fishery management in federal waters. The act allowed the National Marine Fisheries Service to require herring boats, relatively small vessels that normally carry only five to six people, to also carry federal monitors to enforce its regulations.”

It gets worse.

The former Reagan assistant attorney general mentioned that the agency,without explicit statutory authorization, proceeded to require Loper Bright and Relentless to bear the expenses for the salaries of these monitors. The NMFS estimated these costs at $710 per day, at times exceeding the income generated from a day’s fishing.

Both federal circuit courts ruled that statutory silence on the matter was an “ambiguity” that required the application of the Chevron deference.

But when the Supreme Court accepted certiorari in both cases, justices proposed a two-part question that litigants would be required to address: “Whether the Court should overrule Chevron or at least clarify that statutory silence concerning controversial powers expressly but narrowly granted elsewhere in the statute does not constitute an ambiguity requiring deference to the agency.”

Boyd noted that some of the court’s current justices—constitutional originalists, in fact—have indicated in previous opinions how they view the matter.

Several have indicated suspicion in allowing federal agencies — and, by definition, the Executive Branch in general— too much leeway in the interpretation of laws, giving them nearly limitless power in governing, Boyd noted.

The Department of Justice announced the indictment of U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and his wife, Imelda, on charges of accepting bribes. Canadian police have charged three members of an alleged hit team for their role in the assassination of the Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the first arrests in a high-profile killing which officials believe was masterminded by India.

The arrests comes nearly a year after the prominent activist was killed in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh gurdwara on the evening of 18 June in the city of Surrey, British Columbia. In what investigators previously described as a carefully orchestrated operation, two assailants fired about 50 bullets at Nijjar and escaped the area in a grey car.

According to court documents, Karanpreet Singh, 28, Kamalpreet Singh, 22 and Karan Brar, 22 ,have been charged with first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in Nijjar’s death. The three men arrested on Friday were living in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, and will be transported on Monday to British Columbia to face charges. The indictments allege the conspiracy was planned in both Surrey and Edmonton between 1 May and 18 June.

rian Edwards, RCMP assistant commissioner called the killing “outrageous” and “reprehensible”, adding the investigators worked closely with members of the Sikh community.

“It had a profound impact on the residents of Surrey and, notwithstanding today the announcing of charges, those scars will remain in our community for a long time,” he said.

In September, the prime minister, Justin Trudeau, told parliament his government had “credible allegations” that India was behind the killing, calling the death of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil an “unacceptable violation of our sovereignty”.

India has denied direct involvement in the killing of Nijjar and suggested “rogue” operatives were behind a separate attempted assassination of a prominent Sikh figure in the United States.

The fallout from Nijjar’s murder has chilled relations between Canada and India – and exposed what officials say is a transnational campaign of violence by India, meant to target dissidents abroad.

On Friday, the Indian high commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Verma, declined to comment on the arrests, calling them an “internal” matter for Canada.

Canada’s public safety minister said the arrests confirmed “that the RCMP take these matters extremely seriously”.

The men arrested on Friday are Indian citizens who entered Canada on student visas three to five years ago.None have permanent residency, said Supt Mandeep Mooker. More arrests in connection to the murder are possible, he said, adding that police were working with other units in “active investigations” across the country.

Six men and two vehicles were involved in Nijjar’s murder, according to previous statements from police.

“We remain dedicated to finding and arresting each one of these individuals,” said Mooker.

The CBC reported police were probing three other murders in Canada, including the “sick and twisted” killing of an 11-year-old boy in the city of Edmonton.

The World Sikh Organization said in a statement the charges raised “disturbing questions about the nexus between the government of India and criminal gangs”.

Assistant commissioner David Teboul, commander of the Federal Policing Program in the Pacific region, told reporters that the shooting of Nijjar was “very much under active investigation … and these efforts include investigating connections to the government of India”. He said it had been “challenging and difficult” working with Indian officials in Canada and counterpart agencies in India.

Crews have begun demolishing a bridge in Connecticut after it was severely damaged by a huge tanker truck which caught fire following a crash.

The tanker truck, carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline, crashed into a tractor-trailer on the I-95 in Norwalk near exit 15 at around 5am on Thursday.

It caused a massive fireball to erupt and engulf the overpass above and caused major traffic and school closures.

There were no serious injuries despite the explosive collision but the bridge was heavily damaged.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation began demolishing the Fairfield Avenue Bridge on Friday morning to get the highway reopened.

The tanker truck struck a tractor-trailer and then a passenger car before a huge fire erupted and spread on to the overpass.

Local firefighters responded first, putting out the flaming vehicles, and both sides of the major east coast highway were shut down.

Crews started work to demolish the damaged bridge on Friday using excavators and debris was seen scattered all over the ground below.

'Crews from @CTDOTOfficial and our contractors began demolishing the Fairfield Avenue Bridge over I-95 in Norwalk this morning,' Governor Ned Lamont said.

'They'll be working around the clock to remove the bridge so we can get the highway reopened.'

Connecticut Department of Transportation commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said: 'This bridge is less than 10 years old … and the damage was pretty severe due to the amount of gasoline that was in the tanker ignited directly underneath the bridge structure. The steel did begin to overheat and warp.'

Governor Lamont declared a state of emergency in a bid for support from the federal government.

'This emergency declaration will help expedite some of the resources needed for us to respond to this situation,' he said.

'I strongly encourage everyone to avoid this area for at least the next few days while the highway remains closed and to stay alert for updates.'

On Friday, around 13-miles of traffic was reported on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield as well as serious delays northbound.

Norwalk Public Schools also made the decision to shut 'due to ongoing traffic concerns and delays.'

While commuters were urged to work from home and avoid non-essential travel to ease congestion.

'We’ve scheduled some different staggering work times for people so that they can come in later, maybe go home earlier so we can reduce some of the traffic,' Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling said.

'But we’re also asking a lot of our staff to work from home. So we feel that we’ll keep some of the traffic off the road.'

There is an ongoing investigation into the crash.

Thursday evening, two conservative news websites, Human Events and The Post Millennial, were hacked and replaced with a page leaking private information.

Both websites were taken down by unnamed hackers and replaced with a fake coming out letter purported to be written by Post Millennial senior editor Andy Ngo.

“Dear Readers of The Post Millennial, I am writing to you today to share something deeply personal and important to me,” the letter opened. “After much soul-searching, I have come to the realization that I am a trans individual, and I would like to officially introduce myself as Angelina Ngo, a woman.”

At the end of the letter, the hacker concluded, “P.S. I am also sharing with you all of our mailing lists, our subscriber database and the personal details of all our writers and editors,” along with links to download the private information.

See the message below:

An hour after the incident took place, the hacker's note was removed from both websites and replaced with a temporary page which read, “SITE UNDER MAINTENACE… Sorry for any inconvenience.”

26 States File Lawsuits In Federal Courts Over ATF Redefinition Of Gun Dealers

Attorneys general representing half of the country on May 1 sued President Joe Biden’s administration over a new rule requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales, including private sales.

Lawsuits in Florida, Texas, and Arkansas are asking the courts to block a rule from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that redefines “engaged in the business” of dealing in firearms.

Under the new rule, almost every transfer of firearm ownership would require at least one party to have a Federal Firearms License and perform a criminal background check, including private sales.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland signed the new rule on April 10, and it goes into effect on May 10.

According to the 466-page rule, the only requirement for determining whether a person is engaged in the business of selling guns is whether the person is trading to “predominately earn a profit.” Previously, the defining characteristic was whether the dealer worked to earn a “livelihood.”

The new definition is in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA), signed into law on June 25, 2022.

In the Florida case, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

According to the lawsuit Ms. Moody filed on May 1, the act was passed to balance gun owners’ rights against public safety concerns.

In the filing, Ms. Moody wrote that the BSCA’s sponsors assured voters that the law clarified that dealers were only those who earned their livelihood from selling guns. Ms. Moody claims that President Biden is stretching the language of the act to fit his political agenda.

“Sensing an opportunity, the Biden Administration now seeks to exploit the minor changes to federal law enacted in the BSCA to implement President Biden’s preferred policies by executive fiat,” Ms. Moody wrote.

The other two lawsuits—filed in the Northern District of Texas and Eastern District of Arkansas—also decry the change as an unconstitutional infringement on Americans’ Second Amendment rights and an illegal attempt to circumvent the U.S. Congress and enact “universal background checks.”

The intricate legal issues and colorful characters in Donald Trump's criminal trials will undoubtedly keep the media and the viewing public enraptured for months to come. But when it comes to the 2024 election, all that really matters is how the defendant appears to a narrow sliver of undecided voters.

CHICAGO – As the first criminal case against Donald Trump gets underway in New York City, the media have forgone their customary practice of declaring the “trial of the century.” Trial of the month is more like it, since three more are set to follow. The sheer number of criminal trials involving different allegations – hush money payments, retention of confidential documents, and election interference – would seem to guarantee a conviction and Trump’s final ejection from public life.

A conviction is indeed possible, even likely. But neither a conviction nor even jail time would disqualify Trump from running for the presidency. The important question is what impact a conviction might have on voters’ choices on election day. Given that most people have already made up their minds about Trump, we are talking about a small, obscure group of undecided voters in a handful of swing states. And given that most of these people seem to have little interest in, or knowledge of, politics, they likely know very little about the accusations against Trump. The media deluge from the trials may finally end their ignorance.

The trial in New York is about business records, not insurrections or national security. The indictment accuses Trump of violating a New York statute under which a person who, with fraudulent intent, “makes or causes a false entry in the business records of an enterprise” is guilty of a felony if he intended to conceal or commit another crime.

The “other crime” is not clearly identified in the indictment, but the focus of the trial is likely to be a federal campaign-finance violation (or possibly a violation of New York election law). Trump’s then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid hush money to the adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who had threatened to disclose to a tabloid a sexual encounter with Trump. Paying money to someone to help a campaign is a campaign expenditure, and Cohen admitted to violating the law both by making a payment in excess of legal limits and failing to report it. Trump is accused of orchestrating this scheme, though he has not been indicted for the alleged campaign-finance violations.

The legal issues and the facts of the case are weirdly intricate. The US government did investigate Trump for violating federal campaign-finance law, but government lawyers probably feared that a jury would find that he concealed the hush-money payoff because it was personally embarrassing, not because it helped his campaign. That is what happened when the government prosecuted but failed to convict John Edwards in connection with the coverup of an extramarital affair during his 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign.

Alvin Bragg, the New York district attorney, is not required to prove that Trump violated the campaign-finance law, only that he intended to do so. The federal government’s failure to indict Trump for campaign-finance violations suggests that Bragg may need to prove to a jury that Trump intended to commit a crime that the jury won’t think he actually committed. In making the journey into Trump’s brain to discover what exactly the man was thinking eight years ago, Bragg’s Virgil will be Cohen, an ex-con and admitted perjurer. Daniels will also testify.

You might think that this circus of seedy characters and events would end Trump’s electoral chances for good, just as Edwards’s dalliance destroyed his political career. But that would be a mistake, one that has been made a thousand times before. For Trump’s supporters, every new disclosure about his shocking behavior and repulsive character merely confirms the malevolence of the disclosers. In their view, Bragg’s prosecution of Trump for a business-records violation is actually an attempt to derail Trump’s campaign for the presidency by distracting him and exposing him to public embarrassment.

Exhibit A for this theory may be that Bragg has styled his business-records case as an election interference case rather than as a minor financial peccadillo. Bragg argues that Trump is a threat to New York’s reputation for business probity and to US democracy, bridging this yawning gulf by pointing out that the false business records concealed a campaign-finance violation that would have persuaded people to vote against Trump back in 2016 if they had learned of it. Hence, minor financial fraud is transmuted into major election interference. But the logic assumes that a substantial number of voters would not have supported Trump if they had known about the Daniels affair – an unknowable and perhaps implausible proposition. It also stumbles on the inconvenient fact that the business-records falsification occurred after the election, not before it. Trump may have attempted to interfere with the election by depriving voters of information about (parts of) his scandalous past, but it is not clear that it affected the outcome.

So, how much will this trial matter? It won’t change Trump voters’ support and may be too confusing to influence those independent voters who have not been paying attention to electoral politics. Maybe all that matters is the symbolism of the thing. If Trump is thrown in jail, he will surely present himself as a political prisoner in the mold of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn or Alexei Navalny.But the image of Trump being led off in handcuffs, or the (mental) image of him being strip-searched upon his reception into jail, will probably have more impact on people than anything that is revealed at the trial. Are Americans ready to elect a jailbird?

Well, that possibility cannot be ruled out.

The Internal Revenue Service is demanding a further $20 billion from Congress in order to hire another 14,000 more employees as part of an effort to better “serve taxpayers.”

According to IRS Commissioner, Daniel Werfel, the agency needs the money in order to fund technology upgrades and improve its customer service:

The IRS will continue focusing on making improvements and efficient use of funding. But to stress the importance of continuing this momentum, the IRS will continue working to make a difference for the nation’s taxpayers. At the same time, it’s critical that the IRS has stable, secure funding to allow technology modernization and taxpayer service improvements to continue into the future.

Werfel added that he plans to hire a further 14,000 employees over the next few years, with an estimated workforce of 102,500 by 2029.

We believe that figure represents a ‘right-sized’ IRS, reflecting the needs to serve taxpayers and responsibly enforce the law given the complexity of the nation’s tax laws. That number won’t even be a record high for the IRS workforce. It’s still well below the numbers from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

His pleas come less than two years after Congress passed the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, which included a staggering $80 billion windfall for the agency to expand its operations.

Meanwhile, Werfel also pledged to take steps to address the significant dispraity audit rates between Black taxpayers and other filers, arguing this “degrades trust in our tax system.”

“We are overhauling compliance efforts to advance our commitment to fair, equitable and effective tax administration and hold ourselves accountable to taxpayers we serve,” he said.

“We have taken swift initial action to dramatically reduce the number of those audits,” he continued. “We have also made changes to the selection criteria for those audits.”

According to Colonel Earl Matthews, who testified before Congress in April, US military leaders revoked President Trump’s Commander-in-Chief powers that day and refused to move in the National Guard – because it might look bad.

These military leaders should have been arrested and court martialed.

Donald Trump’s authority as commander-in-chief was ignored by senior military leadership on January 6, 2021, claims the chief legal advisor for D.C. National Guard on that day.

Colonel Earl Matthews came forward as a whistleblower to the House subcommittee reviewing the January 6 Select Committee’s investigation.

He sat down with DailyMail.com two weeks after the public hearing to explain what he saw happen that day.

He claims that Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the time, and then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy, were plotting to disobey any orders handed down by Trump because they ‘unreasonably’ assumed the then-president was going to break the law and try to use the D.C. National Guard (DCNG) to stop certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

A lot has been made about the breakdown in military and administration communication when it came to the timeline of deploying DCNG to the Capitol.

But Matthews claims senior military leadership was solely focused on getting the heat off of them and putting it back onto Trump.

The Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, Matthews claims, was more than happy to lean into this narrative and blame the entire ordeal on the then-president.

But Matthews says that senior military leadership essentially stripped the president of his authority as commander-in-chief by preemptively planning to go against orders because they didn’t like the optics of uniformed soldiers at the Capitol.

‘I think a very plausible argument can be made that through no fault of his own, President Trump’s command authority over both the D.C. National Guard and the U.S. Army itself had been surreptitiously curtailed by the senior leadership of the Army on January 6, 2021,’ Matthews told DailyMail.com.

He continued: ‘Army leadership had unreasonably anticipated an ‘unlawful order’ from the President, an order that the President had no plans to issue, and were preemptively seeking to curtail his discretion to issue such an order.’
