Putin Rejects Temporary Ceasefire Plan And History Proves Why…

Russia has rejected the US-proposed 30-day ceasefire which came out of the Jeddah meeting with Ukraine, describing that it would only allow Ukrainian forces to regroup.

"This is nothing other than a temporary time-out for Ukrainian soldiers, nothing more. Our goal is a long-term peaceful resolution," Yuri Ushakov, a senior aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, told Russian state television. "Our goal is a long-term peaceful settlement that takes into account the legitimate interests of our country and our well-known concerns. It seems to me that no one needs any steps that (merely) imitate peaceful actions in this situation," he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a TV interviewer today the latest effort is reminiscent of the Minsk Agreement back in the year 2014. In that agreement, Germany and France both attended the peace conference, helped with negotiations, and signed the agreement. Ukraine did not honor even a single aspect of that agreement, and once the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out, former French President Francois Hollande, and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel admitted in two TV interviews, the entire Minsk Conference was a ruse. They only did it to buy time to arm Ukraine for war with Russia.

Russia sees this as just another ruse, just like Minsk.

Only this time, Russia is winning the conflict and Ukraine (and the West) are losing. So the Russians don't have to stop doing anything because they're winning. If the entire proposal falls-through, it won't change even one thing that Russia is doing because the Russians are winning.

The West, however, is not just losing, it is falling apart. Upon the election of Donald Trump as US President for a second term, the US made clear it wants this war to stop. Europe, on the other hand, does not. But it isn't Europe that's footing most of the bill in Aid and military hardware; it's the United States - and we're becoming dangerously low on military weaponry that we might need to defend ourselves.

So Europe is royally ticked-off that the US is changing its position on the war and the Europeans are not even trying to be friendly or understanding about it. As Europe flails in its own weakness - because most European countries who are in NATO have failed for decades to meet the required two percent GDP on military expenditures-- they're also bad mouthing the United States as if they matter. They don't.

The US has everything it needs to be completely self-sufficient forever. Food, water, Oil, natural gas, lumber, fertilizer and the like. Europe, on the other hand, cannot survive without foreign natural gas and does not have nearly the oil reserves of the US. Europe used to be food self-sufficient, but the Ukraine-Russia war put a big damper on that. So Europe is whining, screeching, and flailing as if it is some powerhouse, when the facts show otherwise. Europe needs to sit down and be quiet.

“Social Media Poster Gerry Nolan has put the Russia-Ukraine Conflict and the ongoing activities of the US and Europe, in very proper and precise perspective.

In his OP-ED, Nolan writes:

Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff heading to Moscow isn’t a negotiation, not yet. It’s a reality check. The empire knows it’s losing, but it needs to stage-manage the retreat, to make its inevitable defeat look like a strategic recalibration instead of a humiliating collapse.

Because let’s be honest: Moscow won this war before it even started. NATO is depleted, Ukraine is a graveyard, the EU is bankrupt, and the BRICS+ bloc is expanding by the minute. The global chessboard is shifting from unipolar fantasy to multipolar reality. But Washington can’t afford to admit this outright, not to its vassals, not to its media, and certainly not to the American public already seething over another imperial disaster.

So, what’s the play? Face-saving. The US needs a way to exit Ukraine without looking like it’s being kicked out. They’ll demand meaningless “concessions” from Moscow to save political face. But Russia doesn’t need to give them anything. This war ends on Russia’s terms, on the battlefield, not at the negotiating table.

We’ve seen this script before:

• Vietnam, 1975: The US loses but pretends it was a “noble cause.”

• Afghanistan, 2021: The US loses, but Biden blames Trump.

• Ukraine, 2024-2025: The US loses, but Zelensky gets the knife in the back.

And NATO? The great “defensive alliance” that couldn’t even defend its own ammo stockpiles? This is their Suez Crisis moment, an irreversible turning point where the entire world sees Western power for what it really is: a declining empire trying to control the future with outdated threats. Meanwhile, Russia has all the time in the world. It’s militarily, economically, and diplomatically stronger than ever. The Kremlin isn’t rushing for a less than perfect peace, it’s waiting for reality to sink in. Because when the US comes crawling for a real deal, they won’t be dictating terms.

This isn’t about negotiations. This is about Washington slowly accepting that it lost. And when the smoke clears, the multipolar world moves forward to the next battle.”
