If you are stuck on what to write and need a prompt, post here and an anon will give you one.
If you have a good one, post it even if nobody asked.
For fiction and non-fiction.

I'd also like to see people writing about their own personal experiences of things people might find interesting, such as if they were raised by a single mother, people who used to consider themselves a feminist/gay/whatever, raised in a religion they didn't agree with etc etc. The limits of your imagination are just that, your limits.

History sounds great by me.

While I assume Western Civ. history by default, any qualms with Murrican history? Revolutionary War, Civil War, Great Depression, etc.?

Or is that not far enough back?

So I've been trying to come up with a topic and opening sentence for a paper I'm working on. Im writing about Aubrey Beardsley and how qualities in his work reflect his upbringing and environment. I would be open to suggestions and ideas on if I should shift the focus of the topic.

Posting here because "Only Board owners/Volunteers can make threads".

I've only really used pens for drawing, but seeing as how there is an extensive array of information and opinion on all kinds of pens, I figured I'd ask some questions for this vacant, yet comfy-looking board.

>What are the ergonomic, legibility, and overall experience differences of owning and writing/drawing with a fountain pen over other pens?

>I feel like I would have a similar experience with fountain pens in the way I do with DE razors and laserjet printers: higher upfront cost, lower costs for materials down the line. Am I right or wrong with this feeling?

>Aside from having a better signature, what's the practicality of writing in cursive nowadays?

>As an extension of the above, what are some resources/advice to making my handwriting more legible?

>Anything else I need or would be nice to have, aside from pen, paper and ink?

>What kind of brands should I look for or avoid for pens, ink and/or other stuff?

Thank you.

>What are the ergonomic, legibility, and overall experience differences of owning and writing/drawing with a fountain pen over other pens?

First off, the beauty of a fountain pen. They are almost all works of art. Even the cheap ones.

>I feel like I would have a similar experience with fountain pens in the way I do with DE razors and laserjet printers: higher upfront cost, lower costs for materials down the line. Am I right or wrong with this feeling?

Nope, the problem is fountain pens are addictive. Yes they will last about 100 years and you can use a $5 bottle of ink for a year or two, but you will end up buying more pens, because fountain pens are awesomeness.

>Aside from having a better signature, what's the practicality of writing in cursive nowadays?

Cursive is no longer taught in most public schools these days. So our public school graduates won't be able to read unimportant documents. Like the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution.

So, yes. I guess cursive writing is not important, Only private school students will learn it. Only the elite will use it. So it is useless.

>Anything else I need or would be nice to have, aside from pen, paper and ink?

Buy converters for your pens. Then you can change colors easily.

When you are first starting out. The Japanese pens are less expensive than the European pens.
