In situations like these where you've got one single hue that dominates the entire frame you've got a typical example of the type of shot that benefits from being presented in black & white. If texture is what makes your picture interesting and nothing much else, at least give it a quick once-over with a monochromatic gradient overlay to gauge how it feels.

Or you could again fuck with the colors, introduce some hues that might not have existed in the first place but that don't stand out as being unnatural.

Hi, anonymous.

I made yet another film development video guide, for those who just want to try it — basic information about filling the film in the tank, developer, temperature and development time, fixer.

I will be grateful for feedback. Thank you!

I bought a used SL1 recently and owned an older Rebel before that, so I'm obviously quite poor but I have a few lenses that work perfectly fine. What I was wanting to learn next is HSS portrait photography but I have never bought a flash before. I read some forum posts and product reviews across many websites but they just added to the confusion. Am I supposed to start with a Canon product as my on-body flash? The Canon EL-100 isn't too high in price for me but I read a comment saying how the Neewer TT560 only works manually with Canon, so this suggests that the EL-100 would be overall worth the price increase for functionality.

Am I understanding this correctly? I should only use 3rd party as slaves and only use Canon as master?

I'm in no rush to buy a flash and might not even be able to buy one soon, but I was just curious to hear from anyone here who's into flash photography that owns this camera or a similar camera.

The pop-up flash isn't so bad but I need to test it more. I think it has better color temperature and distribution than my old pop-up flash, only slightly, but it could just be the better camera making me think so. What I need to try is to see if I can use environment lighting as shadow fill and use the flash as my main light, or try bouncing the light with random objects more but I haven't been fond of how this looks. The more I use my pop-up flash, the more I'm starting to think it isn't too bad. I must've just been using it the wrong way in the past.

I'm an oldfag who's been in the fashion photography trade for many years. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute meaningfully to the board and not just function as its custodian.

Half the threads on here were broken, at least from catalog, due to the various changes and bedshittings 8chan's gone through the last 2 years or so. However, most of them are not, now. In short, nope.

Just bumped because i really liked this board, was about to start sending mails to at least achieve it but i found it wasn't deleted so only the 2 week rule seems to be dangerous (taking into account this board can go a month without a post). I'm very wary of posting in this site so i'm not around often.

On the long note, i quitted taking photos some months ago (really just shot for only a year) because my entry-level Canon DSLR got its kit lenses busted up, both cheapo stuff i didn't take care of; The 18-55mm absorbed a forward fall from a tripod that broke suddenly and the focus motor is slowly dying, a have to manually focus and the ring is very finicky so i have to focus using live view and the hard buttons to zoom in. Definitely not going to do candid or any kind of stuff that needs moderate to fast adjustments.

My 70-300mm is another story, i thought it was one of those fancy modern things that could be manually adjusted when in auto focus mode, but it seems i also fucked the shit out of its motor by over-driving the focus ring and now it doesn't do anything at all, so it just a manual telezoom that also has a finicky ring with short range. I can't do anything well because i don't really trust my bad eyesight to manually focus on the go, also ditched all my money on a PC when all this happened so cannot buy anything over a 100, gifted my old point-n-shoot to a friend shortly before... really i'm just lazy to go around with a tripod and focusing with the nail-breaking zoom buttons.

I did start to read and watch tutorials, but mostly i read about software, i always go along with retouching my photos the least i can, one should pull the job on the spot... but i have to confess some post-processing utilities are very interesting to use, currently watching some stuff by that guy Jimmy McIntyre about Lumi32 and Raya Pro, trying to make HDR stuff look elegant instead of a pastiche of colours. I very rarely buy software but Lumi32 looked to me like a very attractive time-saver when exploring badly/desperately done shots in underexposures with shitty sensors like the Canon's. Pirated some Topaz Labs apps and i don't want tPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Finally decided to bite the bullet and bought an a7III. Was waiting for Panasonic to release something great but instead the S1 turned out to be a bit of a disappointment and frankly I don't have the patience to wait another year or two for there to be a lens/adapter ecosystem worth putting money into.

Even with a grip extender the camera feels like shit in the hand, in particular if you've got lenses with some girth to them. Being able to use my pinky for extra leverage was a big improvement but I came to realize that what was missing was for the grip to fill my hand.

So I made a palm swell.

For $350 you're better off using your smartphone (assuming you have one) and maybe looking for a cheap gimbal which will take your video skills from abysmal to passable with less than a week's worth of practice.

I might also suggest trawling through flea markets for low cost film gear.

Or if youre insistent, a second hand 450D might be found for around $300-350 with a 50/1.8 but there's no fucking way you're going to find anything even halfway capable with an APS-C sensor or larger that can also shoot video for anything under $500

Actually I take that back, there's been a couple black friday deals lately on lower end APS-C kits.

you can get a 5D and some cheap 50 1.8 for that much tbh but it's photo only setup

600d is also under 300$ at least around here

D7000 and 18-105? So 7-8yr old gear that you beat the piss out of.

Duh, it's the camera's fault.
