I do.
It's easier than people think and it's fun to experiment.

Very much like the OP pic actually.
I just have a small bathroom but it's enough to develop film for scanning. I'd love to get back into printing but it's probably not going to happen.
I dev b&w in D76 and xtol and colour negs in Tetenal.
Colour is also easier than people thing, by the way. I just fill the sink with warm water and use that to maintain a steady temp. Tetenal seems to be pretty forgiving anyway.

It seems like something I'd like to get into, but I don't know the first thing about it.

It's pretty easy. It really is one of those things you can learn from watching 10 minutes of youtube videos.
You really only need what's in the OP pic plus thems to get started too. I'd get a squeegee as well, though.
With black and white film it's just developer, water rinse, fixer, water rinse. That's it.
If you're serious about getting into home developing I'll be happy to write it out in detail.

Do you think I could do it in a ~3x10 foot closet?
I'll have to watch a few YouTube videos or something, it doesn't sound that bad.

Developing the film takes very little space. You can do that with just a tank and a changing bag like this http://www.amazon.com/Adorama-Small-Changing-16x17-Loading/dp/B00009R6PX/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1440174883&sr=8-2&keywords=darkroom+bag
You only need the darkness to get the film out of the canister and onto the reels and into the tank.
The tank itself lets you pour chems in and out without exposing the film inside to light.
Printing on paper is a different ballgame entirely and I don't do it these days although I do miss it. I just develop negatives and scan them.
It really is very easy and more forgiving in terms of both temperatures and times than people think.

Okay, that doesn't seem hard at all.
What's so different about printing on paper? I was actually looking at enlargers the other day even though I don't understand what the deal is with them.

Printing still isn't hard at all.
It just takes more space.
Developing paper isn't any harder than developing negs and you can get the hang of the enlarger very quickly.

Okay, thanks. I'll have to look into all this since it seems a lot less challenging than I thought.

Im about to develop a roll of film. I mixed the chemicals last night and let them sit. I moved my film into the developing tank using a dark bag.
Im developing tri-x 400 with fujifilm chemicals.
Ill put a scan on here after I finished developing and drying. I used a holga pinhole camera to take the photos, so probably nothing good will come from this roll of film. Its good for testing though. My other camera is a leica mp with 35mm summicron. I dont want to ruin the leica shots, so im practicing with my shit holga first.

Just finished developing my first roll of pinhole photographs. The majority of the roll was overexposed while taking the photo. Only 6 shots came out with the correct exposure. Of these 6, only one is a decent shot, the others suck hard. Ill scan the film as soon as it is dry and post it here.

I develop all of my own film (B+W, C-41, E-6) and I made my own B+W developer, stop and fixer that yields me really nice results. Scan with an Epson scanner I got on Amazon used for $100

Yes, I develop my own B/W 35mm Film
- Ilford HP5 400 ISO
I put the film in the container in a changing bag in my kitchen and I haven't had any problems with it yet.

tbqh, I'd rather scan my 35mm negatives (If I really like a certain one, I will re-scan it with a higher resolution) and then screw around in lightroom with them. I scan it in with a Canon 9000F.

I print with a Canon Pro-10 - Max size 13 x 19 in

yes. i got a kit over the weekend and developed these. both have been expired for years. i don't know if that's why it's so grainy, or if i'm just shit at developing.

I like the grainy, dreamlike style of those outdoor shots. They almost remind me of a beat-up movie print from the '20s.

Probably the developer didn’t cover the images fully. I also can see spots where the fixer wasn’t cleaned off fully.
