How many of you in the states where you "need" a front plate bother and have you ever been pulled over? I ask since I don't want whatever my new car is to be ruined with drill holes or look awful with that huge plate we have here.

I know you can get a thing that makes it so it's not drilled, but I still find it really ugly where they put the plate. It really shows on some cars like the EVO, the STI. A lot of Euro cars too. Even on the mustang it really kills the front of it.

I just really want to make sure the plate is not drilled in on whatever car I get.

Odds are, if you're buying a new car in a state with mandatory front plate display, it'll have a bumper molded for a plate or plate holder.

Only been pulled over driving other people's cars, but never ticketed or fined or anything.

You sure. Maybe it's just the pricey carts I see. Someone at my job as a new M3 and it has no plate or a place to put one. I think most people use the plate holder so you don't need a special bumper or holes in your car.

How is that Crown Vic? I knew a guy with the Mercury Marquis that was a undercover car. It was very cozy and pretty fast. No idea what was under the hood. V8 right?

Drinks gas, because it weighs two goddamn tons, but it rides smooth, and has all the get up and go I need. 4.6L 281 cubic inch V8.

If you're ever looking for a retired police car, see if you can find one that was purposed for detective use. Far fewer hours on the engine, and a whole lot less mileage.

Required front plates

Recently got a new bumper from a body shop and specifically asked them not to attach the license plate because I got a mount that connects to the tow hook threads instead of making ugly holes in the front.

Mother fuckers made the holes then just put two little plastic ends into each to cover them "So I could attach it later." Some fucking bullshit.

Won't be going back there.

Front plates have been mandatory in Europe for decades and we deal with it. If you have a car that's not US exclusive, chances are it will have some sort of plate support that will integrate in the design.

Or at least it would if you had normal sized plates.

I don't think anyone in NA or SA use the thin plates. I think we all use the big ones.

Is there any reason you can't order thin plates?

I live in the States. We don't do that here.

Ausfag here. We're stuck with big front and rear plates, although we can get custom slimline/European plates for $500.

In NY they made a new plate a few years ago for no reason, but didn't make it mandatory to get them, so now half the cars have these ugly orange plates and half have the older plates. They're also really annoying about plate covers here.

>Plate covers

Are they mandatory?

I'm lucky in the fact I own an Aussie made/designed vehicle so our big plates look absolutely fine on it. I can't fathom why people would pay extra money for a number plate from a continent they're not on.

No, they're not, but if you have one that covers the "NEW YORK" part or the bottom you could get pulled over if the cop is a dick. I think it's more so people with light trucks cover the part that says its a commercial truck.

tbh most cops, at least around here, couldn't care less about trivial shit like this

it's just the few ones that like to feel important

Like I said. They mostly bother Trucks that are trying to not use commercial plates. Like Chevy Vans or trucks like that.

My local police are or at least were pretty grounded people, capable of being silly. I don't envy their job of mopping up the shit in my city, but thankfully, there's very little of it to clean up compared to say, Cleveland. Then again, leftist hives are usually full of murderous shitbags.

My car had holes drilled in the front bumper that someone filled in, I'm guessing down in Florida where I got it from. The plate completely ruins the front of the car. I have my mounted inside my grill using the threads for my tow hook
