Names or Alphanumerics?

Names are the best, even if they are stupid (well maybe not TOO stupid, see the Nissian Qashi whatever) or ironic (nearly every car named after fire has a history of burning). Alphanumerics are too impersonal and lend to the toaster feeling cars have now a days.

Names for sure.

>inb4 someone names a car "Ovenfire" and markets it toward jews

what he said. Except Qashqai is a name of an indian tribe so if this sounds stupid, then Alaskan is stupid or Cherokee is stupid. It's still better than 308, C-class or 911.

Cherokee and Alaskan and Yukon Denali all roll off the tongue and are obvious how to pronounce at first glance. Qashquai takes a second to think about because it breaks a standard rule in English (always a u after q) that most are taught growing up. From a marketing standpoint, you should not have to think about how to pronounce your product's name. It should be immediately recognizable as a word the first time you see it.

It also breaks the rule in my language, but q always makes the same sound as k, regardless if there's a u or not afterwards. There's a few exceptions.

Also if I recall the Qashqai is called Rogue in the US for the dumbest consumer base.

Every normalfag knows what a 4Runner, Civic, and Corvette looks like, and what their make is. Not many can do the same with a 323, E90, or A3. Even though for the past decade Mazda has tried to kill off the Miata name in America, everyone (that isn't some faggot who calls it an MX-5) still calls it that.

My language does not even have Q, W or Y…

>>17178

I personally have no problem with numbers as car names. As long as you stick the year/generation/base somewhere in there. Audi A4 does not mean much, but A4 B6 is instantly recognizeable.

Mazda current naming scheme is a mess. While looking for the rear passenger light switch i had to go through a fucking catalog of older, different generation, different equipment tiers Mazda 323s, andi did not find my particular model. The local scrapyard had only one generation older 623 and stripped out older generation 323, the Lantis lookalike. And no, none of them had the same rear passenger light. They had one huge one between seat rows. And none of their generatios have even a definite name. VW group at least has the fucking B platform on which everything is glued on, and some 2 platforms for work trucks and vans.

And i am not paying for a new fucking rear passenger light switch, it's literally 2 centimeter small piece of shit thing that fell off when i was changing the bulb, and now i can't find it

On a related note, Alphanumerics.

I like names more, but I don't really care.

Names by a wide margin. I'd rather own a Prelude, Mustang, Miata etc. Vs a 325i, GLC 300 etc. A car should invoke a feeling which the name aids with. A car named GTX 1070ti feels like soulless technology as it should.

Fpbp, spot on with the toaster comment.

Alphanumerics because machines shouldn't be given people's names. Enjoy your car with a named after a fat chick from some gay ass fairy tale, I'll make do with an S65.

Alphanumerics. A name is more personal imo.

Depends. On one hand you have the Corvette, Mustang and Viper, and on the other you have the F40, 911 and RX-7. I'm pretty sure no-one would argue that the latter three would be any more iconic with a name.

Any name (or number) will do as long as it's not some faggot shit like "T-Roc"/"T-Cross"/"Grandland X"/"XT-Gay!" that only a middle-aged woman or a stupid chink would like.

I've also noticed that stupid gay cars carry equally stupid and gay names.

I have to disagree. The RX-7 isn't so famous among the layman and I believe some of that inferiority comes from it´s bland name. Same goes for the 911 and F40: if you don't say beforehand that it's either a Porsche or a Ferrari, most laymen would look at you wondering what you meant.

On the other hand, if you say "Corvette" or "Alpine" to some lost kid he'll know what you mean.
