Manual allows for greater control of the throttle and acceleration/deceleration via manipulation of the clutch, its that simple.
My campus has a 90 degree corner between two long straights and whenever I drive vigorously with great enthusiasm I always shift from 4 to 1 back up to 4 again while trying to maintain high revs without braking. That's just not possible with an automatic.

actual brakes are just better, they induce more weight transfer which if controlled with gas (heel-toe etc) can both initiate turns better and also stay more stable through and out of the apex of a given corner
the thing is, driving fast means driving smooth, finding the limit of traction and riding it, smooth clean apexes and intelligent weight transfer, you don't go fast just because your car is making loud noises

Well of course I break before reaching the corner, but not during it. By the time the steering wheel is actually turning to corner, I want to be accelerating again, which is the proper way to turn a 90 degree corner since if you don't start accelerating again by the time you are actually cornering the speed loss will be too big . I don't just shift down without considering my revs. I am trying to synergize using both brakes and gear-shifting to lose speed without solely relying on one exclusively only brakes= too great loss of momentum, only gears= catastrophe and now I feel like a sperg havving to write a whole paragraph on my doctrine to tackle 90-degree corners.

This issue is easily resolved my sequential automatics, especially ones using dual clutch setups. Manual is obsolete, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. It just isn't optimal for daily use if you drive in traffic.

If you rev match, if you don't exceed the redline and if you only go for high revs with warm oil, nothing's going to break ever from fucking engine braking.

If you are riding the clutch in slow traffic you are driving wrong. Just stay in gear and leave more distance from the car in front of you. Unless traffic is moving less than 10mph this usually works. If you encounter such slow traffic so often I would suggest trying to move somewhere you don't, it's probably a shitty place to live anyway with so many people.

>you have time to stop if the guy in front of you brakes hard
>someone else can move into your lane if they need to (if you are one of those people who speeds up when someone in the next lane ahead puts their turn signal on, drink another gallon)

There will be a median speed. Say on average it's 5 mph. Give yourself enough space so that way you can move at a constant 5mph without stopping and starting again. If you and several people do this, the traffic jam actually will begin to clear for the people behind you.

It boils down to personal preference. If i know i will not need to accelerate, i slip it out of gear (no clutch) and brake with regular brakes when necessary.
Then to begin movement again put it in first with clutch and revmatch all the way to the needed speed.
