Why? I drive my nice car whenever the roads are not frozen or snow covered, which translates to 75% of winter.

I can drive my car in the winter because I don't live in some far north shithole that salts the roads
Except I can't drive right now because it just snowed an inch for the first time in like 40 years and no one knows how to drive in it

Unless you're driving ancient shit, your car's underbody has a galvanized undercoating which should even resist small rocks. Only scraping damages the coating.

Impressive. Did you paint it with brush or sprays?
My scratch is still there, because it is -10 celsius minimum at any time of day, and paint would just freeze on the surface. And fall off the day it unfreezes.

Uhhh… I did not understand.
Are you implyig that is ridiculous? Brush painting definetaly is easier to screw up, but with the right tools you can apply much thicker layer of paint, thus giving the metal surface slightly more protection from elements, as well as ability to just wash off lighter scratches. Spraypainting might be faster and easier, but the end result is just not the same.

There is nothing wrong with a C5 Corvette. As long as it has a V8.

Yep, V8 American power, and basically stock with all the maintenance done through, as far as I could tell from CarFax. And besides, if something happens and I don't have tools or the ability to fix it, there are dealers and tons of specialists in my area.
It's my first V8, everything else I'd had was I4 or V6. By comparison, the Corvette is monstrously powerful, despite being weaker than some modern V8 Mustangs and Camaros. I was also more shocked at how clean the interior was. It's not immaculate, but reeeeeaaally nice for being 16 years old.

As a non-'vette owner, and a guy who has never owned anything bigger than a 2.0L i4, the only things I've heard about the Corvette community are good things. The only down side is that I hear you'll fall too much in love with Corvettes, and I frankly don't see a problem with that. There's a reason why old dads fall in love with them, and maybe that reasons works for younger guys too. I'd certainly try to get a Corvette if I could afford one.

>you'll fall too much in love with Corvettes
That's the problem I've read about but it's also that a Mustang in V8 still isn't as exciting looking as a Corvette and ride definitely isn't as good. My brother has a GT/CS from 2013, the Corvette I just got rides nicer and it's a base from 2002.
The other nice thing is V8 cars seem to hold their value better and do seem to last longer than some cheap I4 from typical American brands. Obviously Japanese cars go until the apocalypse in a lot of cases but German cars can be finicky even when you do proper maintenance. The LS stuff seems really rock solid, and my family has a friend who bought a C6 brand new to commute around Washington DC because it was the most comfortable car she drove. She's put over 200k miles on it, no major issues.
If you ever get a chance to save some money for a nice V8 based car, it's nice to have that extra power on tap and generally have strong powertrain. I've heard good things about the Genesis V8 sedans, but I've also heard they aren't for everyone. Otherwise, C4 Corvettes are usually affordable and 1992+ will have the LT1 from before LS naming, which is still a strong performer and pretty reliable. The only knock against the C4 at that point for me was the interior, the ride is similar between the two if both are stock/base. Sporty but not uncomfortable.

tbh I find the Corvette a little too visually ostentatious. Like, I feel like it'd be vandalism bait, it just looks too much like a supercar and here in Canada I would sort of expect for some commie to slash the tires sooner or later. I'd go with a Camaro over it due to similar performance and handling without looking as expensive.

Newer cars can suck ass sometimes but new Hyundai and Kia seem to be doing well. I'm interested to see how well the Stinger GT/Genesis G70 do long-term, because I might get one used in a few years when I replace my Focus.
>>15297
Camaro versions are usually (but not always) inferior build quality and they generally don't last as long. LS Corvettes can safely go 200k miles or so. Also, I live in a richer area of the US where Vettes blend pretty well. People will notice, but more often I see a Model S, E-class, SL, 3-series, X-series and various Porsche running around. Including one dumbfuck driving his Ferrari in stop and go traffic. The Vette'll be safe.

C'est la vie, non? I should say, there are plenty of other cars that are much more normal, like various Fords, Civics, Accords, Priuses (though not a lot of other regular Toyota cars), the odd Hyundai here and there. But a Corvette doesn't stick out so much that they'd be targeted.
>>15363
Yeah, the new Focus is actually quite nice. Pretty peppy for a 2.0L I4, backup camera is standard, handles alright. It's certainly not a track or rally monster, and some insane entrance ramps give you a lot of body roll but it's perfectly fine as a commuter car and I've used it for a 1k mile roadtrip for the solar eclipse last year. Spent 13 hours driving one of the days, car was actually pretty comfy for the first 8 hours before I got sore.
