What does /o/ think about the mx-5, both old and new?
I ask cause I'm thinking of getting one second hand and want to know whether I should go for a newer varient or the MK1. I also have no real knowledge on cars.

Just got an NC with 82k miles, but autotragic. Got it for $7kUSD. Did I do good, and should I be DDing this thing? Because that's what I want it for. Engine is great, but needs tires.

I think this is exaggerating it a bit too much. The NC is fine, it's just uglier, but I do fit inside of it without any modifications. I don't know, though, you might just be Eurofag, since they seem to have gotten the 1.8 instead of the 2.0.

Don't feel bad. Just take care of it. You can rebuild the engine as many times as you like, and if you keep up with maintenance, it will last longer than you can drive it.

Honestly? This. Problem with the MX-5 is the fags that drive them not the car. Everyone I've encountered who drives an MX-5 is a manlet manchild who uses a lot of hairgel.

On the way to work I drive past a lady in a red NA when the forecast shows no rain, but other than her its almost all middle aged guys. Granted, I've seen less than 10 unique drivers in the year I've owned mine. I've only seen one guy who vaguely fits that description, and he just looked like a typical normalfag in his 20's.

NC is a fine car, just has a soft suspension because MX-5 owners were aging. It's the most powerful by far, and can be built to run if you want it to. Source: NC owner.

I'm indifferent to them over the stock ones. They're much better then the fixed headlights Mazda put on later models. Though aftermarket fixed in ones for NA's are the best.

That shit was too jewish for me and I dropped him soon after. Also I hate the roman songs about cars

The Mini was an utter pile of shit before that project started. The Celica was probably gathering dust and hey, why NOT try and stuff it into this rotted out mini we have.
So only one maybe fine car and a trash heap that moved are getting massive amounts of engineering and fabrication done to them. Turning a trash heap into a quasi rally road car (they say in a Q&A it won't be legal for the rally events they attend) is pretty cool.

Maybe not, but it definetaly helps for part changeability. It's easier to strap on a new wing, bumper, hood and a static headlight, rather than messing around with pop-ups that are not used that often on track anyway.

Again, the Mini is almost a complete loss due to rust issues (Which they do fix and it's over 1000 Bong-bucks just in parts, lord knows how much work it took that they're clearly not charging themselves for. Not to mention just regular mechanical work it would have needed).
And the GT4 kinda disappears, but they presumably just pulled the running gear which could be replaced for a running GT4 again.
So it's a pile of shit with a donor drive train needing a lot of fabwork and planing to make work.
Regarding the fixed headlights over pop ups Most pop ups are only required for a few cars to look right, and even then it's only when they're down. Otherwise they're just a needless complication and add weight in the form of motors to make them work.

So yeah, basically you're just a mechanics enthusiast. Cars in 1940's had a really valid design, yet we don't do car that look alike anymore, even with all our safety standards. Form follows function works better for tanks than cars.
