Okay, I'm back.

>>403789

“Hello?”

“Hey mom.” You responded, sitting on the couch with the phone to your ear.

You heard a sigh of relief on the other side. “There you are! We were so worried about you!”

“Yeah, sorry I didn't call.” You told her. “Got lost in the whole moving thing.”

“We understand, you must be working really hard.” Your mother says. “Your father misses you, though he won't admit it openly. He's proud, though, I'm sure your grandfather is proud as well.”

“I hope so.” You sighed.

“So…” your mother seemed worried. “How is it over there? You aren't getting into trouble with any of the locals, are you?”

You are…But you decided not to tell her that.

“Its fine, actually.” You said. “Everyone is real nice, I started fitting in right away, when I get into one of the towns, that is.”

“That's good.” She sighed.

“I'm even in driving distance from the beach.” You went further. “An actual beach, not just a lake-side.”

“Well lucky you.” She said with a huff. “Don't go neglecting your duties with all that swimming.”

The two of you shared a laugh. After a few moments, your mother spoke again.

“You need to get out of the stone age and get yourself a cellphone.” She said.

“Why?”

“Well because you're always out and about now, what if I need to reach you? Everyone's got one, your father and I got ours while you were still in school.”

“Guess it never really occurred to me.” You sighed.

“Well look into it…”

The two of you talked for a little bit more before you felt like it was time to get more work done.

“I guess I'll talk to you later, Ma.” You said.

“Alright, be careful out there. I'll tell your father you called when he gets back from the city… Love you.”

“I love you too…”

You said goodbye and hung up. Sitting on the couch, you gave some things some thought and picked the phone back up, putting in a number.

Man, that felt like a bit of a buzzkill. All the fun sexual tension just sorta drained out after we put a hold on the berry-rape.

>Maggie looked at you, still holding the strawberry in hand. She narrowed her eyes at you before slowly moving the strawberry towards her mouth, but Cassie slapped it out of her hand.

Absolute mad ladette; what a legend.

We probably should have mentioned to Herbert (and Ernie if we haven’t already) that we think the skinny is posing as a resident. We know a pair of red eyes similar to hers were watching us at the farmer’s market.

As for the plan today, I say we do what one anon mentioned - we should go chat it up with other ladies for now while Rory and future mousewives recoop.

So my plan is as follows. Go visit Belle sisters and get some estimates on livestock and proper shelters for them. Our barn may need some work before it’s cow worthy but we don’t have a coop for chickens, right?

After chatting it up with Belles we should go check on either Ako or that panda girl. It would be good to get to know them better.

Finally, we should check up on Maggie and the others to make sure she didn’t have any nasty after effects like amnesia. Rory seemed to remember what happened after being prompted - that or she knew all along as has been said.

Another thing to consider is to finally get some more seeds, and I mean a lot so we can hire some help and go to the city while someone takes care of the farm while we’re gone. Honestly, I l bet Cassie and the rest wouldn’t mind housesitting for a time while we head out there. Seeing how Herbert looks on return makes me think we need a buddy to go with us, though…

We should set up a trail cam just to be sure it's not the skinwalker dumping mana into our field, and maybe take a close look around the property for weird shit/signs of trespassers.

I don't think anyone here wants that.

>“Well.” It was actually Poppy that spoke up next. “I don't really want to turn this fun filled day into a day of sexual assault.”

>“Or…Do we?” Maggie asked before getting a look from Poppy

Lets take some soil from our field and move it off property, toss an acorn in it and see if there's still stupid fast growth and/or strange effects. Also chuck an acorn in the field for comparing. What would happen if we grew textiles, would the cloth made from it have strange affects? We could start an [Experienced Farmhand] fashion brand.

Also might want to stop by the library and see if Ernie's wife knows anything about whatever the fuck is going on with the soil. It's not like Herb is the only one in town who could possibly have answers.

According to >>391374 and this image we've still got 12 spots left for seeds, I think it's a good idea to buy a variety of plant seeds to test the effects the soil has on them. I think it's fair to assume that since the strawberries and potatoes caused different effects that other plants would too. Also, that same post mentions that better tools would let us plant more, so we should also get that better equipment since we are doing fairly well money wise currently. Investing in ourselves will only benefit us down the line.

Asking Ernie's spider librarian wife about our fields is actually a pretty good idea. Describe the whole situation to her and see if she had any ideas. And call them strong aphrodisiacs, not that they make monsters handsy or whatever.

I'm also good with getting a bigger variety of seeds. That's what I was want to do all along.

Aside from that, we apparently need to get some rest. We've been too stressed lately.

You sighed and managed to sit back up from where you lied down, with another stretch you stood up and got back to the work you wanted to do for the day. With a jar from the kitchen, you filled it with dirt and then got into the truck and headed into town.

The Everton library was slightly more busy today, but nothing to really write home about. You went inside, and luckily, the librarian you were familiar with was at the front desk. She was reading a different book this time, her legs moving around sporadically with a light “thud” against the carpet flooring. She looked at you and welcomed you inside, only a second later realizing that you brought with you a jar of dirt.

“May I help you?” She asked with a raised brow.

[Experienced Farmhand] “I brought you a jar of dirt.”

She looked down at the jar, then back to you. “I can see that.”

Suddenly, you realized what you just said and shook your head.

“No, uh.” You cleared your throat. “There's something weird going on on my farm, the fruits and vegetables I grow have odd effects on the monsters that eat them. I thought that maybe you might have an idea about what's going on.”

She looked at you, then at the jar, then finally relented and closed her book. She took the jar from you and opened it, eyeing it pensively before sniffing it.

“Smells like dirt…” She mentioned.

“I figured.”

A moment of hesitation later, she finally put her hand into the jar and poked the dirt with one of her jars. She then yelped sharply and pulled her finger away, almost dropping the jar in the process. She pushed her glasses back to her face and then looked at you with a surprised glare.

“Uh…” She said, trying to keep her voice down. “Okay, wow.”

“So…Do you have any idea what that might be?” You asked.

She shook her head. “I have no idea, I've never felt something like that before…”

As the two of you spoke, the door to the library opened. Ernie stepped in with a paper bag in hand and a fountain drink in the other. He turned around as the door closed and looked at you and, who you assumed correctly, was his wive.

He eyed the two of you one more time before approaching the desk.

“Hi, Sweetie.” The librarian said quietly.

“Hey, Edna.” He replied, giving her the bag and drink. “I thought you would like some lunch.”

“Oh, thank you.” She said with a smile, accepting the meal.

Ernie looked to her, then back to you. “…Is there any reason you're giving my wife a jar of dirt?”

“Was hoping she would know something.” You told him. “Being a librarian and all.”

“Oh. Did she?”

Edna shook her head as she unwrapped the sandwich. “Its weird, and I don't like it…Well, I do like it, but in a bad way.”

“Okay then…” Ernie nodded slowly.

“Hey, Ernie.” You spoke up. “Can I uh…Speak to you?”

You both leaned against Ernie's van as he had himself a cigarette.

“Still want help with the Skinwalker, huh?” He asked.

“Yeah, I'm starting to think she's someone in town…Or in one of the towns.”

“Wouldn't doubt it.” Ernie sucked in air through his teeth before taking a drag from his cigarette. “Their transformations aren't perfect, but their good enough to blend in. Especially if she doesn't have to talk to anyone all that much.”

“She has red eyes.” You mentioned. “The mayor Natashya of Everton also has red eyes.”

“So does around 20% of the residents if you put all three towns together.” Ernie said bluntly. “Not to mention you missed a crucial detail.”

“Really?”

Ernie put the cigarette out with his foot before pointing at his left eye. “The eyes.”

“The eyes?” You asked.

“Skinwalker's can't change their eye color. The shape may change, but the sclera and pupils will always be the same. Natashya has black sclera and red yes. Our friendly skinwalker has white sclera.”

“Oh…” You kicked the dirt. “And here I thought I was on to something.”

“Still, I'd pay her a visit. Natashya maybe the mayor but she's still a demon, and demons tend to know things we don't.”

“Do you think she might know something about the dirt?” You asked.

“Probably…Maybe. I don't know, that shit's weird.”

You kept all that in mind.

“Wait wait wait.” Ernie stopped you with a deep breath. “If you're going to visit the mayor, just remember to…You know…Bring a friend.”

“Bring a friend?” You asked.

“Her and her assistant can get a bit…Er.” Her scratched the back of his head. “Handsy with singles in the area. Not all the time, mind you…But yeah there's like a 30% chance.”

You looked away, then abck to him. “I'll…I'll keep that in mind…”

You went to leave again, but then stopped yourself.

“Hey uh…I might need help finding the…”

“Yeah, I know.” Ernie nodded. “Wait a little bit for Herb to heal up, he got busted up real bad when he went into the city.”

“Yeah, I was going to ask. What happened?”

“Beats me.” Ernie shrugged. “Probably went down the wrong street and got all…Herbert on a stranger.”

“Is that common?”

“If he's paranoid enough at the time. But don't worry, you won't find a better hunter in the country, let alone the area.”

With that, you nodded, waved, and went on your way.

The deed done, you went back into your truck, and decided what to do next.

I agree with this, we need to go about our business while there's daylight and maybe get to know the belles a bit better.

I would say take Rory with us to meet the mayor but I doubt that even she could handle both a demon and a griffon, if she can't even handle us. We need to get on friendlier terms with the cowgirls or with Ginny for some literal muscle to address mayor.

30% chance of getting double teamed is still too much if we want to choose our waifu(s).

I think just having anyone around in general while we talk to the mayor would be enough of a deterrent. We can just put our arm around her or something if need be. We could brief her on this beforehand to prevent her from getting flustered in the process. Given that we’re dealing with a demon, I don’t think physical might is the major problem here. What is the more dangerous possibility is that we may be talked into a corner or pushed to sign a (((contract))) in exchange for the info we’re looking for. Especially because this is in the city, we’ll be out of our element. [Experienced Farmhand] thus far has been a boon and a source of humor for us, but I fear that Everton is where it will start becoming an active burden.

She also warned us about getting snatched by the free living merfolk in the open ocean. Obviously, Ginny is much less dangerous than them, because she is from a city. So she may not be used to embracing her instincts, compared to them. But she clearly still feels them and has embraced the freedom of being in the open sea, to some extent. She didn't rape us, and I don't think she would if we continued doing business with her. But that's business. If we were there for a personal visit, things could go differently. Especially if she got some of our magic food in her. I doubt we could stop a shark girl from raping us, despite being a rough and tumble farm boy. In their element, sharks are apex predators. I'm surprised at all the people thinking it's wiser to rely on power over intellect, when dealing with demons. You really think she'd be intimidated by a bit of muscle, when she keeps a griffon at her side? >>406181

That’s what I’m really concerned about when we face Natashya. Physically you could put the two Belle sisters in a room with her and they’d seem like a suitable enough deterrent. But she wouldn’t play that game anyway, it makes a mess she doesn’t need to. She’d just turn the Belles on you and then take the results.

Sharp minds, and overwhelming her with too many targets seems better.

Either way, it’d be madness to face Natashya today. We’re mentally and physically tired after yesterday, so are Rory and the mice, so we’d all get totally chewed up and spat out. Plant crops, get chickens, recover a bit.

If 8chan eats shit for a bit then I'll move the CYOA over to Endchan. Thanks for all the archive work.

Also, sorry for short update.

Something told you that it might be a bad idea to face Natashya today, especially with the soreness of your body… You did have another idea, though. Out of everything, you wanted to pick up new seeds, some pepper seeds, plant trees, the whole bargain. That was going to cost you a pretty penny, and you didn't know if you had it in you to make the trip today…

But there was something you could do.

Marybelle was the first to greet you as you parked out front, with Annabelle coming out of the staples a few seconds later.

“Well hey there.” Marybelle said as you approached. “What can we do for ya today?”

“I'm looking for some chickens.” You said. “Maybe start out small with livestock.”

“Well you came to the right place.” Annabelle said. “Do you have a coop already?”

“There is one, but I wouldn't really call it a coop anymore.” You explained, looking away for a moment. “More like a pile of wood and wire meshing.”

“That don't sound too good.” Annabelle said with a wince. “Like, completely wrecked?”

“Like someone hit it with a car.” You thought about it. “I think someone hit it with a car.”

“Well.” Marybelle took over and stood beside you with a catalog. She flipped through it before reaching a page and pointing at the image on the paper.

[Mysterious feelings] You wanted to get a good look at her breasts from this angle–

You stopped yourself.

“This is the one we're offering.” Marybelle explained. “It costs around 3000g, its steep I know, but you get free installation if you don't want to do it yourself, -and- we can get it to you in the next two days.”

“That sounds pretty good.” You admitted. “What about chickens?”

“If you want egg layin' hens, then its about 1500g a chicken. We sell roosters as'well for 1000g.”

You crossed your arms and lowered your head and thought about it.

That would be 4500g all together just to start with one chicken. And you still wanted to buy supplies for the farm in other categories…

Let's save the chickens and coop for later, maybe wait until we're a good couple 1000g over the price. Thank them for the offer and head on over to get some new seeds.

What’s our current budget? I actually forgot.

I agree but instead of giving up we should try to work out a deal.

Ask the belles if they’re willing to strike up a deal between workin’ folk.

We get ourselves some grains and corn and start producing some feed for the livestock, who knows, maybe our magic produce works on the animals too?

If that’s a no go then at least let them know we’ll be buying soon (like next harvest which is probably tomorrow i think?)

If we have enough for two hens and maybe a rooster as well as a coop with a 1000g to spare go for it. Make sure to take them up on the offer to build it, always a treat to get to know the characters.

One last thing, we need to figure out this weird feeling. Ernie said something about the skinny having some kinda power like this if I remember correctly. We need to get this shit under control before we attack someone or seek her out and surrender ourselves.

>1500g a chicken

>1100g for a shotgun

3000g for a coop is reasonable, but she's gouging us for these chickens. A single chicken should cost like $5.00 (https://www.rochesterhatchery.com/Poultry/meatbreeds/BROI). Let's try to talk her down to a more reasonable price. Also, are we hoping to get meat or eggs from these chickens? Different breeds produce different amounts of each.

Is OP gone for good or is there a chance the CYOA returns?

Read the meta thread posts… CYOA will probably not be returning here. At least not for a while. 8kun will first have to prove itself to be a stable platform.

It's up, but it's running pretty slow. I still don't trust 8kun yet.
