I bet this particular show upsets the craw of the left-leaning 3dpd crowd. There's lots of monster girl content that has a subservient female archetype but the setting really focuses on the whole "home life" aspect of a waifu. Senko-San perfectly captures this for me. Her unwavering adoration of the MC extols the idealized waifu. I can see the rebuttal from the progressive stacks.
<"Is this what men really want from a female character? A woman who loves them unconditionally and takes pleasure in pleasing them? Why can't he take care of Senko instead? Why is she so happy to please him? How sickeningly patriarchal."
They recoil from the premise that women can have value while at the same time maintaining a traditional gender role. The fantasy isn't a foxgirl with magical kitsune powers. No, the fantasy is that a guy could come home to a waifu figure and expect her to greet him happily and have dinner ready. That's the real fantasy right there. I find the show heartwarming but my favorite fox girl will always be Sakura from Hyper police.
