I set up a modded 1.12.2 Minecraft server centered around Grimoire of Gaia ( https://the-grimoire-of-gaia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Grimoire_of_Gaia_Wiki ), a mod that adds scores of cute (and, for the most part, deadly) monstergirl mobs to the game.
The only other gameplay mods are Spartan Weaponry (adds various weapons) and Roots Classics (druid magic), so it is altogether close to the vanilla experience, and should run reasonably well on toasters.
The server is only a few days old, so there is no infrastructure yet—meaning you'll have to run and hide from aggressive mobs when you first spawn. You can /sethome and teleport back to it with /home. If you open your inventory, in the top left there will be the FTB Utilities options that allow you to set your PVP statues (whether you want other players to be able to fight you or not), and you can claim up to 64 chunks to thereby protect them from griefing/theft.
The server is pirate-friendly, so you can use a pirate client (like the Team Extreme one) to connect (the flipside being that you need to register an account on the server and have to log in every time).
To install the modpack, you can either use a dedicated launcher, which I don't do so I don't know how that works, or you can manually install the recommended version of Forge (1.12.2-14.23.5.2768), then download the rar from box.net, and extract the mods within into your AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods folder. In the Minecraft launcher, modify or create a profile (bottom-left), choose Forge 1.12.2-14.23.5.2768, and launch the game.

I don't know if this would let me join you guys. Any experts able to comment on the suitability of these different programs for hosting a monster girl world? Perhaps we could do an alternate world on MineTest?
Only thing is apparently it lacks mobs so monsters may need to be programmed from scratch.
I'm willing to try out a vanilla world first but I'm not sure how to start. Are you guys using the free "Minecraft Classic" or the modern version that you need to buy?
I'm basically trying to figure out what I can install on a Lubuntu OS to learn the basics and then enjoy your world.

Minetest is a completely different and better program than Minecraft It's still missing a lot though. If you're trying to play Minecraft on a *nix, I highly recommend https://multimc.org/. You'll need a java implementation too. I like OpenJDK, but you can use the official oracle one with less problems. Create an instance and use the modpack linked in the OP to create an instance with the appropriate mods. If you don't have an account, the easiest way is to just buy an account. Seriously, it's $30 and it'll be well-worth the money. If you have something against buying an account, the OP said the server works with the TeamExtream launcher, so I assume it's cracked. Grab the TeamExtream copy of minecraft configure a multimc instance to use it instead of the offical one. Then just "launch offline", and connect to the server.

After I finish my property, a project I want to work on is a river system that takes you to the sea. Maybe make some underground water ways if it's possible as well, since most threats can't catch you in the water. after I work on the sea path, I could dig water tunnels towards various towns too.

The railway network is one thing we could all work on. I've also been meaning to complete the wall around the city at spawn, as well as overhaul the interior a bit with new buildings and such. I may also move the farms and livestock pens outside of the walls, since in medieval times that was usually how it was.

Are mimics immune to arrows once they’re moving? I ran into a couple mimics while I was mining and tried to use a bow on them. I had previously aggro’d them so they were moving around. But I don’t know if they bugged out or if active mimics are immune to arrows because I fired ten arrows at one of them and they didn’t take a single bit of damage. Before I could get close enough to see if they were bugged or not a flesh lich got me.
