Disturbing security footage has captured the moment a helpless man was beaten and robbed by a large group of teens in downtown Cincinnati. But all suspects remain on the streets, thanks partly to the disgraceful “justice” system.

WLWT, which obtained the security footage, reported the awful assault happened on January 23 around 8 p.m. on E. 6th Street.

The footage captured by WLWT shows the victim walking up the sidewalk when he is suddenly ambushed from behind by the youths. He is smacked once in the back of the head, which causes him to fall.

The thugs proceed to rain punches and kick him several times while he’s on the ground. The victim appears to be groaning during the assault.

Then, one of the teens snatches the man’s phone and walks away with most of the crew. A few thugs remain behind to land a few more kicks as the victim screams, “Help me!”

The man somehow escaped with only minor injuries despite the vicious attack, according to WLWT.

Cincinnati police said two people were arrested the same night in connection to the incident: 18-year-old Jadin Shaw and a 14-year-old.

But Shaw was released after posting a $10,000 bond the following day. The younger teen was taken to a juvenile detention center before a so-called judge released him back on the streets the next day as well.

The Municipal Judge who allowed Shaw to bond out is Judge Donte Johnson, according to WKRC.

Fraternal Order of Police Queen City Lodge #69 president, Ken Kober released a Facebook post dripping in anger regarding the weak justice system that allowed these thugs to continue to terrorize the Cincy streets.

These judges let these two folks right out. Both of them are out walking around the street today. In fact, one of them was seen in the same area last night, just walking around, free to go. My guess is (they’re) probably out looking for another victim.

Kabir Abu Bilal is not your regular Nigerian university professor - he has a second job working as a welder in the northern city of Zaria.

Welding is widely seen as a menial job across Nigeria and he has shocked many - especially his colleagues - by opening up his own welding workshop.

"I am not ashamed that I work as a welder despite being a professor," he tells the BBC. "I make more money from welding."

The 50-year-old teaches and supervises research students at the faculty of engineering at Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria's largest and one of its most prestigious universities.

He has worked there for 18 years and published several books on physics and electrical engineering.

His fellow academic, Prof Yusuf Jubril, explains that their colleagues find it strange: "Society make us think someone is too big for certain roles and it's not true.

"What he is doing is not humiliating but commendable, and I hope others learn from him."

His income from welding has allowed the professor to buy a Mercedes-Benz

Prof Abu Bilal agrees that people, especially graduates, need to be more open-minded about how they make their living.

"Education shouldn't stop one from doing jobs like this, I am surprised that there are people with first degrees who find a job like this degrading."

His words have resonance - as according to Stutern's Nigeria Graduate Report, more than 40% of graduates fail to get a job in Nigeria, Africa's most-populous country.

He opened up a mini workshop in Zaria around two decades ago.

In 2022, a year after he was promoted to become a professor, he moved to larger premises having found plenty of business in the university town.

This has allowed him to buy more equipment and take on bigger jobs, with customers asking him to make things such as metal door and window frames.

"I collect the job no matter how small it is, even if it is one door I will weld it happily to get paid," he says.

Since he was a child, the professor says, he has always liked taking apart and putting back together gadgets and things like radios, which drew him to his career.

"Unfortunately I found out engineering here was more theoretically based and I needed a place to express myself," he says.

"That desire culminated in me starting this welding workshop."

Not only has the workshop satisfied his need to get his hands dirty, but it has really helped him on the financial front.

Academics in Nigeria have long struggled on modest salaries, most earning between 350,000 naira ($390; £305) and 500,000 ($555; £435) a month - and there are often long battles with the government to get a pay increase.

Prof Abu Bilal says his welding job has allowed him to be more self-sufficient and he has even been able to buy a more reliable car - a Mercedes.

In leaner times, he has even helped those who frowned on his joint career.

"When university lecturers went on strike for eight months in 2022 and we weren't paid, I always had money because of this job and a few colleagues came to me for help."

Prof Abu Bilal hopes to inspire other people to take on jobs like the one he does.

The apprentices tend to stay at the workshop for about a year

He has 10 apprentices - aged between 12 and 20 - at the workshop where he is teaching them the skills of the trade.

Those who are not at school during the day take care of the workshop when he is away at university.

The apprenticeship tends to take about a year - and then when they have the skills they can go off and set up their own businesses.

"I have learnt so much being at the workshop, I can weld many items together now," 18-year-old Jibril Adam said.

"Even as apprentices, he gives us 10,000 naira every month and a daily stipend for food."

The academic is also determined that his five children do not become academic snobs: "I bring them here most weekends to see how it is done. I want them to learn it so that one day they'll be able to do it."

For Prof Abu Bilal his joint career suits him perfectly, as he is able to embrace his teaching role on both fronts: "I love to impart knowledge."

A conservative Hispanic community leader aiming to flip a Democrat-held congressional district that sits on the U.S. border with Mexico announced Monday she had raised a massive amount of money to boost her bid.

According to her campaign, former Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, who briefly represented Texas’ 34th Congressional District from 2022-2023, raised over $970,000 from 16,617 unique donors in all 50 states during the 4th quarter of 2023.

Speaking to The Sentinel shortly after the beheading, Cassidy said he had beheaded the statue in order to “awaken Christians to the anti-Christian acts promoted by our government.”

“The world may tell Christians to submissively accept the legitimization of Satan, but none of the founders would have considered government sanction of Satanic altars inside Capitol buildings as protected by the First Amendment,” Cassidy said. “Anti-Christian values have steadily been mainstreamed more and more in recent decades, and Christians have largely acted like the proverbial frog in the boiling pot of water.”

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s wife and a colleague of hers have both been hospitalized following a car accident in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s wife and a colleague of hers have both been hospitalized following a car crash in Alabama.

Gayle Manchin, 76, and Guy Land were injured Monday in the accident which happened in Birmingham as they traveled from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport to an area hotel, Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, said in a statement Tuesday.

“On Monday, my wife Gayle and her colleague Guy Land were involved in a car accident on the way from the airport to the hotel in Birmingham, Alabama for an Appalachian Regional Commission event that was planned for today,’’ the senator said.

“Both were admitted to UAB Hospital and are receiving excellent care. She remains in stable condition but will stay there for a couple of days for precautionary measures. We want to thank the first responders who answered the call and were first on-site to provide assistance and support.”

Gayle Manchin is the federal co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission and was in Birmingham with Land, the ARC’s congressional liaison, for a grant workshop.

ARC said in a statement that another vehicle struck their car while they were driving to attend the event. Land’s injuries were not disclosed, but the commission said both he and Mrs. Manchin “are receiving excellent care at a UAB facility as they recover.”

A telephone call to Birmingham Police for details about the crash was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Manchin was the governor of West Virginia from 2005 until 2010, when he was elected to the Senate. The couple have been married since 1967 and have three children.

Gayle Manchin, a former educator, served as president of the West Virginia Board of Education and as the state’s secretary of education and the arts under Republican Gov. Jim Justice. She was sworn in as the Appalachian Regional Commission’s 13th federal co-chair in 2021 after being nominated by President Joe Biden.
