I wouldn't know. Void seems to have found a way to sandwhich them on one of the deepest layers, and Griffith seemed to approach the deepest when he glimpsed Maka while he was transitioning to Femto. These cardninal spirits may be on a lower layer and even subservient to the hand.

IIRC this was still close to the beginning so very few reptilianel shards had been collected. Even then I don't recall Sesshomaru really caring about them or collecting them at all. That GIF was of him showing his younger brother that he didn't know how to use his sword properly. Mainly it was showing a massive power imbalance between Inyasha and his brother as a metric for his growth throughout the series since Sesshomaru will always try to kill him, but won't go so far as to hunt him down.
