In vague terms. The character he is similar to also wanted a magic key to a powerful seal that would allow him to totally upset the natural balance. His primary motivation was killing Maka however. When he was put down by the MC the MC remarked that he could "sense a sort of loneliness behind his blade." I assume what follows in Rosario tomorrow night is fanfiction based on that.
