>Aaand it sounds like you're gonna keep on studying after the bachelor's degree?
I already am!
>Oh neat! Even though that seems like a hella late start to me
Heh X3 Technically speaking, we had one short introductory lesson two weeks ago, but yeah fair enough.
Sociolinguistics. Guy mostly just talked about a few randomish things. Then he read us like 20 article titles with some commentary and let us each pick one article and we'll be presenting the summary of it in front of the class, basically. And we're also supposed to give people handouts about the presentation and the stuff from the handouts will be in the final exam. It's like he's making us do his job for him, the evil genius!
After that, he played us a youtube video of a song which included code switching between Czech, English and Polish. Seeing as I can't speak Polish, I only understood the pun that was in the title and chorus… The Poles would hear "I'm searching for you, Milosz of Warsaw", whereas Czechs would hear "I'm fucking you, Milosz of Warsaw." But apparently there were more and even in the other direction! Like how our word for girl apparently means slut in Polish, Polish word for way means drugs in Czech, our word for alehouse means cellar in Polish. All of those were meant to be in.nocent in one language but filthy in the other, and as I said, some of them were super obvious but others were not. That was actually pretty good.
