i just can't take how soulless k-pop is anymore. purepop groups are a thing of the past.
i found something way better to replace them with though, which is sakura gakuin. so i'm gonna shill them really quick.
they started back in 2010, a 12 member group and their concept is a school system, where you graduate from the group when you graduate from jr. high in japan (15-16). after the graduates leave, they have a transfer-in ceremony where the newest girls join. the graduations are emotional because members you've watched grow for years are leaving, but it's offset by the new qts that join. i don't know if you're familiar with babymetal, but they originated as a sub-group from sakura gakuin.

What killed the board? I remember everyone just sort of disappeared one month and never came back. I’m starting to believe more and more that we were all the same age (born between -90 and -96ish) and as we slowly drifted away and adult cynicism set in there simply wasn’t any influx of new posters.
I kinda dropped off when I moved to Korea and dated a few korean girls. (turns out they’re just as shitty as any others) In the meantime the last of the groups I followed died, some of the members literally died, individual post-idol careers were ruined by scandals and so on. I guess the only reason I’m really here now is wishing to get back the good ol’ days as I sit here with my hairline receding, squeamishly watching my invalid grandpa struggle to eat his christmas food, missing the days of careless shitposting.

i thought about this a lot. ultimately people left because after months of spammers i just started banning everyone who didn't leave their kpg antics at the door and refused to assimilate to the high quality culture i was trying to foster here. looking back i regret it and recognize it was my fault but the nature of these small communities is that it is inevitable. i could have handled things better but this board was never going to last at least not with it's founding principles intact. there just aren't enough intj types with similar priorities to sustain it. look how kpop.re turned out
i do miss what we had, a place away from cuckchan where we could discuss everything related to our shared interests without catching a 3-day. the problem is there are so few intelligent anons that fall into this niche category left. i've found a handful of others over the years but getting anyone to migrate to a dead altchan especially without drawing unwanted attention from the same shitposters we were seeking to avoid just isn't feasible. there's a lot of factors involved but mostly i think it's a generational shift. and it's taking place all across the internet, zoomers don't want long form intellectual discussion about hobbies they just want another twitter void to lob their mental illness into. we don't share the same life experiences and from what i've seen they largely resent us millennials because of it. they reject gen2+gen3 groups and have no appreciation for how they influenced the modern kpop industry they recently discovered
i guess i've become jaded and apathetic toward most of these new gen4 groups and the current concept trends but i do enjoy a few of them like ive for example. it's interesting how the dominant force of kpg now rejects classic kpop culture. they basically hate every group i like, pretty much just because i like it. posting classically beautiful talented idols is met with vitriolic word salad while objectively ugly, average idols are praised. it's not new but the increasing concerted overwhelming dominance of those types is just odd. it's like a mind virus and makes me wish we had somewhere like this to escape to

anyway i got the board migrated to the new domain a while ago then it was stolen and restored again but as you'll notice all of the images have 404'd. i'll have to check if i missed an email from CM but i'm assuming it's due to inactivity. sitewide 8kun is a ghost town now even compared to before all that manifesto drama. i've looked for other kpop communities but they are fragmented across so many altchans and none of them catered to the flavour we had going here. it's just really hard to find high iq straight white guys from the toonami era who enjoy asian girls/music and appreciate sharing high quality resources together. wjsng has been a good alternative, some old 8ch posters ended up there but being tailored to one group it can be very limiting. and the onesixtwo.club guys don't even talk about kpop anymore. i suppose enjoying this stuff in solitude was going to be my fate no matter what. in any case i'm thankful we will always have the memories of this place. i don't know how long this board will stick around for but i'll check back every now and then if you want to catch up, talk about how things are going or whatever
