>video games

I love games. Definitely have played some obscure ones. Thanks internet. Wish I had someone to talk to them about. There's also still alot of essential series I haven't played. Most people I meet online just play hours of Counter-Strike or DOTA or whatever. Which is fine, not hating. I just like a huge variety of vidya.

Live A Live, Final Fight, River City Ransom, Strider, Joy Mecha Fight, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Metal Slug, Captain Commando, Super Robot Wars series, etc.

Most rarest game I own is either Metal Slug Anthology or Fire Emblem : Path of Radiance.

>anime

Haven't watched much obscure anime. Votoms is probably the most obscure. Ideon, Hajime No Ippo, and Kaiji maybe?

My nigga. They really need to remake it for one of the new systems, it'd be perfect for WiiU if they sold the Wiipad seperately (or maybe they coudl get away with 3ds connectivity, seems like more people have 3ds than wiiu)

I have a collection of obscure games from my childhood. I'm likely the only person in the world playing them at any given time. It's sad to see them die but with technology moving forward and it being ever more difficult to run them, with the developers dead and the source code nowhere to be seen, it seems that the games will die after all. Me and a few others that only play them ever few years keep them going. But when we go, so will the games. It's sad.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The translation project is an unofficial one that was being done by /vr/ on halfchan a couple of years ago after a bunch of anons from there pooled their money together to buy a copy to upload since were only a hundred (or a thousand? I can't remember) copies of the game ever printed.

Yeah I remember wanting to get those, but I didn't have much money at the time. They should do a new one in the vain of FFCC for NX or Wii U though.

Also Final Fantasy Explorers looks cool.

/v/ had convinced me to try Summon Night, playing it up as some super awesome underlooked game. I forced myself most of the way through it even though it felt like a chore more than anything (seriously, needing to break your opponents weapon and not kill them for a reward (which comes at a further cost to get and has limited usefulness) even is a bad game mechanic despite being interesting). -then I was (again) faced with a game-breaking event where if you only had one weapon you screwed up any chance of progressing. I had save states set up to see all the cutscene options but I was just done, it wasn't worth the trouble of redo-ing any amount of grinding to fix the game's issues and complete it.

Those were fine, but didn't nearly have the same feel as the original. Although I understand why they don't do the exact same formula for a sequel because the whole point of it was to rid the world of the miasma by destroying Memoria but a remake of it with today's more capable technology would make gathering and playing together a hell of a lot easier. Wish more games did this type of pseudo-rpg feel Any out there I could try?

The Sega Saturn and the meat of the OG Xbox's library are obscure and underrated games that nobody seems to give a shit about especially the latter because of its perceived reputation as being a dudebro machine but I won't delve into them because their libraries are relatively small and easy to find all the good games. On the topic of obscurity I wouldn't know how obscure something is because someone is bound to know something even deeper than that by researching or stumbling upon it by chance. In that case check out games for Japanese PCs, Jack Bros. and Virtual Boy Wario Land, TubroGrafx-16, and Neo Geo home consoles.

I'm not sure how obscure this game is and was but I really liked Rodea the Sky Soldier. It wasn't an amazing game by any means but I did have fun playing it and I didn't get to play Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS so I was grateful for this game. I even wrote a review on it once. Yes, I played the Wii version.

This is neither a game or an anime, but I've never met anyone IRL who likes my favorite band. Even folks that I've tried to introduce them to have been nonplussed. I can't blame them, because Magma's definitely a very…unique…musical group, and I guess they're not for everybody. But I'm so enthusiastic about how incredible their music is, how life-savingly, mindblowingly intense it is, that I feel compelled to evangelize on their behalf anyway.

Hellgate London.

The original, not the mmo it became after it's multi died. I played a shitton with the demo and then with the full game, which i bought at full price. Still no regrets. Nowadays i redownload it and play with the revival and lost london mods. Still, i kind of miss the unique multiplayer armor and weapons.

Stickman Warfare

Multiplayer fps game. A college student's creation. Very bad graphics but pretty fun gameplay. Back near the start anyway. It was essentially a TD where you could juat drop in and out of the server. Guns vs Tech. There were "classes" (weapons really) that you could choose. Guns had guns and a hummer to get around, tech had sci fi weaponry (like railguns, plasma launchers) and an anti gravity vehicle to get around the large island, which aside from a few landmarks and topography was pretty open. The dev made a world ending event before he applied the patch to upgrade the engine, and it was interesting events where everyone stopped fighting to watch it happen. I'm not sure where the game is now, but i kind of tuned out after the new engine patch dropped. Still, fun times were had by all back when it was on the old engine.

Hylics.

It's a very "artsy" and weird game, but i kind of like the nonsensical feverdreamlike aesthetic it has. It's a relatively short game, but it can be pretty long if you don't know what to do. The very non humorous humor is so in harmony with the stop motion clay animations. I learned how to snap with my index finger because of this game. It's made in rpgmaker but that doesn't speak of it's quality in my opinion. There's a more fleahed out second game in the making that i'm waiting for.

There was a paintball fps game that had pretty tight controls and was pretty fun to play. I think it was gotcha paintball or something familiar.

There were a couple or smaller obscure arena shooters but i forgot about them.

the basic attack is a rotoscoped hand in gloves snapping by using the index and thumb. I found this interesting, and after trying it realized that its much harder than a middle finger snap. After that i attempted to do it out of boredom and managed to get it down.

It's more silent than a normal snap, but the sound is different.

I don't think there are any anime that I like that wouldn't be known to the typical image board visitor.

The same can said about video games.

I can list some old stuff that were once popular that I like, that people don't talk about very much.

Can't think of any anime but i liked the manga ichigo100%. It was probably popular a long time ago. I didn't visit image boards back then. i read it a few times. I could have related to it but having gotten older everything there seems foreign. A job I hate is all that's stands between me and hikki neetdom. Not that I'd give on life or anything. anyways moving on.

Nes - ultima iv

This game was fantastic. Was also difficult for a 5-7year old beat. I never beat it but it amazing. The world was so vast. It's amazing for a nes game.

Nes Tmnt - ok game but i liked ninja turtles

Snes - swat kats - this game was fun

Snes Sekien Densetsu 3 - i really really enjoyed this game. When people discuss top rpgs it's never brought up. I plan revisit this game soon i never beat it cuz dumb young brother over wrote file twice. I was really far with the story too both times. This was a long time ago.

There are 6 main chatacters. You pick your lead and two others. The other characters become passing allies that never join your party. To get everyone's story you'll need to play the game at least twice.

Opposite time

I'm currently playing snes dkc and don't like it. Its a populargame but i have neverenjoyed donkey kong platformers. Its just not fun to me

Zelda botw.. Is.. Meh. Its popular but puzzles are severely lacking. The story is garbage. Its lazier than some nes stories. SS had better music, dungeons puzzles and story. BotW is this serene peaceful kinda game sometimes. So has its own nice going there but lacks the zelda essence. Also botw has potentially taken a huge dump on the timeline

SMO is inferior to the galaxy games. Its a good game but having 900+ moons cheapens the experience. Also the reward for getting all moons was pure garbage. You should stop playing the game after 500 moons.
