Does anyone here have an "inner world"? I have been hikkikomori for a year but I really can't stand being locked up with my own thoughts, so I spend all day on the internet and watching anime. How does the average hikki deal with this feel?

I think most of us on here can relate anon it's all just escapism.

>I really can't stand being locked up with my own thoughts

I very much value my time alone. When my parents leave the house and I'm here by myself, I like to pace back and forth and talk to myself. Not in a crazy, schizophrenic way, mind you, but rather I like to articulate my thoughts in a logical, presentable manner. I will pick a topic that has been on my mind, and talk it out to myself. It helps me to keep my thoughts organized.

I do browse the internet, watch shows, play video games, and indulge in escapism, same as you. However, I don't use these things to escape my own thoughts, I use them to escape the reality that I am a failure in a world where only the crooked, the selfish, and the dishonest can truly succeed.

I also do this.

You aren't a failure my brother anon, you were born into a taker culture, that operates from the business deal mindset. The stories by author Daniel Quinn reveal the true history and development of this taker culture.

By searching: the stories of daniel quinn pdf

or, list of books by Daniel Quinn, you will find everything for free in pdf. There are also audio books on youtube, my favorite because I can lie back and listen at my leisure.

The list:

https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/10330.Daniel_Quinn

The two most important and I would recommend them are:

Ishmael, My Ishmael (the story of a talking Gorilla). And, The Story of B: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit.

——————————-

This is my take on this subject. We Hikikomori are advanced beings with higher advanced and evolved consciousness. We are a Pure human operating system that is revolted by what you described above. So much so that we cannot participate in a Vampire and Cannibalistic culture. It goes against our basic nature because it harms and kills all life on this planet. I'm sure that you have heard of the concept of Enlightenment, I'm going to leave 3 links below. They are by 3 different men speaking on the 'same topic', each to his own understanding. My question is which one is telling the truth?

…take care :)

I spend a lot of my time reading books. For the past couple of years I've been on a chinese-fantasy binge. The best part about them is that they're all exceedingly long novels and thus are great for long-term escapism. Combine that with very little romance by nature, and you end up with a good source of escapism that keeps you entertained without hitting any landmines that might immediately remind you of your current situation, thus defeating the purpose of the book to begin with.

If anyone is interested you can check out a website called wuxiaworld that translates chinese fantasy novels into english and allows you to read them all online for free. I recommend using adblock and something that changes the background so that you have white text on a black backdrop. Reading for 10 hours a day can really give you eye strain if you don't have a colour scheme that's conducive to long term reading so make sure to find a setup that's comfortable to you.

I hope that helps you OP. Escapism is basically my overall goal from day to day as I do my best to avoid any time where i'm alone with my thoughts.

I recommend starting with Coiling Dragon. It has a western-themed story to begin with and will ease you into the general setting of the genre as a whole. I hope you find something that you like as it'll mean hundreds if not thousands of hours of potential escapism. Reading really is a goldmine for avoiding yourself.

That's from the Korean section right? I don't know much about their styles or themes but I've heard good things about Gate of Revelation in the past. I hope you find it enjoyable, but even if you don't there's plenty of others books to choose from until something takes your fancy.

The malignant uselessness of my thoughts, and really life itself, when I sit inert with no distractions, often gets to me in a bad way as well. My mind constantly festers with boring stupidity & annoying bullshit, as if a loud buzzing fridge & a screeching static laden radio were mashed together and then molded into the shape of a brain. I also have a very efilistic attitude towards existence and literally can't help, but think about how horrifying this bloody horror show of planet is and how staggering the collective pain of all the eons of life. I'm trapped in a planetary madhouse filled with bloodthirsty cannibals. There's no escape other than sleep (those who can't avail themselves of such a gift, for whatever reason, have my sympathies). As long as I'm awake, I feel like shit. It's that simple. All one can do in the face of such awfulness is endure. Especially when you're too weak to commit suicide, as I am.

Funny. I used to as well almost all the time. Thought I was the only one. Haven't done it for a while, though. Got sick of hearing my own voice. Not to mention, that I haven't had anything to talk to myself about in a long time. I also don't have the energy and just sit around catatonically instead these days.

Those aren't Korean characters. Those look like this

안녕하세요 (An nyong ha say yo) formal hello; literally means do you walk with peace.
