Was systemdick really a glowie project to backdoor linux users?
It wouldnt really surprise me since any readers of linuxjournal were on a secret watchlist. Anyways, installing devuan for the first time.

Devuan is great. Works just like Debian. A couple things might be off but unless you're working that closely with it you probably won't notice it

Using Devuan Beowulf as the base for my HTPC, just a simple netinstall with openbox, a browser and a media player.

Its pretty awesome. Bare bones, not even a music player installed by default. Had to install a propriety blob for my gpu on Beowolf. If you want to stay absolutely pure go ASCII or even Jessie

Having used most init systems/service managers I've grown a distaste for all of them, and I can guarantee that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Systemd is fine, but I still prefer and use runit instead.

>knoppix dropped systemd, back to sysv
>devuan expands its foothold successively
>so does void
>alpine a very popular minimal distro
those who claimed years ago that the init war was over and the deal is sealed might be in for a surprise

>lists some distros literally irrelevant in anything serious like enterprise deployments
fedora/debian/suse (and derivatives) are systemd all the way down and ain't taking as much as a single step back

For me, the main thing is high-quality and uninterrupted work. By this principle, I usually choose all the necessary tools. And recently I found a source that turned out to be very useful for my work https://masterbundles.com/ Thanks to this, I can choose original details and complement any of my projects.
