The rugrats/smaug comparison doesn't really work because those are "intellectual properties." They're creative works that may have originated by individual authors, but have been (consensually) put up to be further developed by dozens to thousands of other creatives. In that sense the idea is no longer the product of any one individual--it takes on a social rather than individual character, public rather than personal.
Whereas a sona (in most cases at least), is kept close to the original author, kept an extension of themselves rather than an open offering to the public. So it'd be more akin to someone taking a an actual real-life photo of you and photoshopping it to look like you were getting bukkake'd. Some people might be okay with that, but generally, doing that without explicit consent, is super not okay.

I've noticed the double standard with furries for years.
