okay, from what I've found, Manson was apparently marking his face with an X at first. That's how he showed up to court after being arrested. Then he later showed up with a Swastika. That's probably the explanation for this. He did it himself, and later on stopped on the same design and kept it that way.

What he did was either way a good demonstration of how a person can turn people in a close-knit cult into parts of this own mind. If you watch the newly released tapes with interviews of them, there are some interesting things there. When asked "What do you think of Charlie?" they all look at each other and start giggling, then saying something like "Charlie is…." (uncontrollable giggling) and they go on talking about how he "has taken all the fear, love is fear." and some other things which sound pretty incomprehensible.

But the thing is I recognised their reaction. If you've had an obsession with something, where it completely takes over your thinking, you'll know what they are feeling. I guess it borders to mental issues. They are not mentally or emotionally seperated from him, that's why they can't answer. As they say "We are all Charlie", they mean it.

If CIA was involved here it was to test how far you can take a method like this. It then kinda misfired, but as a demonstration it's good.

I have quite a few questions, I'm most interested in the pathology of Manson and people like him.

Do you know if Manson learned anything from his parents (regardless of their abuse) that allowed him to groom and indoctrinate his cult members?

Did he ever maintain his notoriety, or his charisma throughout his final years in prison? Or were things different?

Is there anything about Manson's case that defies the typical patterns of cult grooming and indoctrination? Is there anything he did that lacks an explanation at all?

I've noticed that religion gets to be a weird subject among cults. Usually it's either used as a bludgeon by the leader of the cult, or it's demonized because the "god" of the cult is the leader- which seems to be the case for the Manson cult.
