I'll try to make my contributions conversational rather than just dumping links.
This scene from Fantasia is an example of Disney censoring its own back catalog to conform with modern sensibilities. I understand why they did this, but I don't like the tinkering with history and willful dishonesty (even if it's minor). I'm not sure children are fully aware of racial stereotypes nor am I convinced that they would be damaged by mild exposure to them. Fantasia was intended to be more than the standard Disney kids' movie anyway. It was a prestige production that pushed limits for the studio.
I think this youtube composite is the only available version of the original cut, which reinserts the character Sunflower.
Disney mothballed Song of the South for similar reasons, even though they gave it a theatrical re-release as recently as 1986.

dunno if GOAT, but recently memorable scene.. Dersu Uzala montage with the tuba playing and these stills show of the two best buds in the world just chillin, kicking it.

>>3526I agree Sunflower doesn't fit into the Greek motif.
BUT I think the sequence should remain intact as originally created, for better or worse. If Disney wants to make changes for the contemporary retail release, at least include the option to watch the unedited version too.

Lady in the Lake was a 1947 film shot entirely in POV.
A couple of scenes really stand out but I can't find very good clips online. Here the character is pursued in his car, but the clip stops right as things get interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucXmCDHt-B4&t=31m10sThx, I didn't know that it was uploaded.
I liked how the stills broke the style of the film. Up until this point, as I recall it, it had mostly been long takes and more or less dramatic scenes without music. This montage breaks with both those traits. It also depicts the heartwarming friendship in a humoristic manner with dersu's awkward encounters with items from the captain's world (pipe, hat/cap, and he doesn't look like he's ever sat on a horse before).

The First Echelon (1956) is also uploaded by Mosfilm. Overall Kalatozov's first color film is disappointing, a ham-fisted propaganda about students moving to the country to harvest grain.
It's almost a total waste of the filmmakers' talents, until one redeemable scene near the end where things begin to unravel…

Does anyone else see the parallel between death scenes in horror and sex scenes in pornography? In a way, the rest of the film is just filling time between the parts everyone really wants to see.
