I want to pose a question to /fast/ as it continues to grow in popularity as a place to migrate from the cancer that is 4/sthg/. I will be as polite and upfront as I can, and saying no is ok, I just want to hear your thoughts because it's just an idea and I wouldn't force it if users weren't interested:
Would a discord server for /fast/ be a bad idea?
The one for /sthg/ is filled to the brim with drama and SJWs. Quality of users & their content, and preserving the culture that 8chan and half-chan have always had, would take maximum priority. It would never become a replacement for /fast/, just a companion for users who want to grow a bit closer to each other.

Why the fuck do people keep insisting on using Discord in anything that involves anonymous communities? It stands completely at odds with the idea behind them. Personally, I've never seen the point of a discord for generals/boards (nor do I plan to join any), but if people really want it, then they'll make it anyway.

The idea is that since non-normie Sonic fans (that are 18 or older) are hard to come by outside here, Discord would be a place where they could actually connect and possibly form friendships. I know, the concept of sociality is foreign and strange to many Anons, but that is the appeal.

This is the first I've heard of it. I know there was a shitton of controversy about Skype doing it. But not Discord.
Then again, Discord's most popular feature kinda requires them to collect data. And nobody said "everyone on /fast/ should be on Discord". The people who are fine with it can join and the ones who aren't can stay here where nothing has changed.

I've never experienced any problems on places like Discord & never got the problems people have had with it, but if it's clear that a lot of people here have issues with the site for one reason or another, then it's probably for the best to not make a /fast/ one for now.
Besides, we're still trying to grow this board so it's a bit premature imo.
