being a fashion contrarian is a very hipster thing to do anon. hipsters usually try to adapt old trends with new standards and wear skinny jeans with everything. i think that for that style to work you need to execute in its enterity.

This anon pretty well nailed it. If you're trying to pull off this look, you gotta go all in. If you try mixing it with contemporary styles, you'll definitely look like a hipster.
