I’ve never understood this, I’ve been told by the time you’re in your late 20’s you become less capable of “independent thinking”. As in you are much more bound to what you already know, which is why scientists like Einstein refused to accept quantum mechanics or other new theories that completely re-worked thief field. So in that time when your mind is most open, you just spend it all learning what has already been found out, so by the time you get a masters or PhD you’re more likely to not accept anything that changes your view too much. Or at least that’s how I’ve been told the brain works. That could all be wrong.

We’ve gone back to grade 11 physics (just wil calculus) so the concepts aren’t too abstract it would help a lot with learning if they got us to actually think in class instead of just asking “who got the right answer?” or “who knows what to do next?” Because all my professors teach passively and my classes are small enough that it’s not an issue in most cases to actually engage with the class. And I’m a person who can learn from just hearing fairly well, I’m not someone who needs to see something to get it (in most cases). Just most classes I end up thinking about different shit and not paying attention because trying to pay attention is more effort then understanding what is being said.
