[–]▶ No.2827>>3023 [Watch Thread][Show All Posts]
So guys, how do we revive the board without bringing aids here? We've got a fairly decent community. There's not a lot of shitposting and people seem to like it. What can we do to bring more people in? Quality people that is, not retards.
Maybe tell your non-downie friends or something? We have a good foundation to start on. I mostly don't have to do anything here. You guys already moderate yourselves and stick to quality discussion for the most part.
Edit: This thread is now a meta general. Post ideas, suggestions, express your agreement or disagreement with ideas and concepts, post css mockups, offer assistance if you want, etc. Changes to the board will be made after a general consensus is established. What would you like to see? Change? Keep things how they are?

It seems like 8ch's user base mainly consists of /pol/acks, /v/irgins and /b/tards. These groups are usually not interested in fashion. 4/fa/ wasn't and isn't affected by all the stuff that happened around 4chan and its mods, so there's no reason for them to leave
yet.
It's really hard to advertise niche boards on 8ch. I would just leave it as it is. There are always people who are interested in fashion boards or need temporary effay help, so this board will probably never be completely dead.
And - looking at the bright side - at least this board has someone like you who actually cares about it and its future, so that's nice.

It hasn't been too long since the "exodus", the board is slow as fuck but everything starts that way.
We just need to wait for now, with some luck as 8ch gets more popular it should get more people in.
Also what

>>2827 (OP)Hey, I don't know if you'll read this but 4/fa/ seems so much shittier now and I used to go on /fa/ everday. Shit sucks that this board is so slow, it seems like a lot of /fa/ggots just gave up when the exodus happened. I'd like to post more but it seems so dead and I hate posting more than one outfit per waywt even though I suggested otherwise.
I stopped posting on 8/fa/ in hopes that I'd return to a lot of new users but it seems stagnant to the way things used to be in the past. I'm sorry I haven't offered much help but the people we want to populate this board are of a very specific sort and are hard to replace. I drank a shit ton of wine tonight so hopefully this message makes sense. I love you :3

>>3023>I stopped posting on 8/fa/ in hopes that I'd return to a lot of new usersI guess that's what a lot of people do and that's really, well.. dumb. The board will never take off if people have this mindset.
Just check 8/fa/ every 1-2 days and try to participate (but without forcing yourself to respond to any threads – quality > quantity). That's what I do, at least.
>I hate posting more than one outfit per waywtNo, please do :3
The thread speed shouldn't stop you from posting your fits.

Growing boards is all about time, dedication, and love. It's not that hard to learn some decent CSS; do it. Shill at every possibility, in fact actively go to boards where you might pick up people who might be interested (/improve/ immediately comes to mind), think outside the box (look at the video /tikilounge/ made, HW recognized it and the userbase responded), set up an IRC and get some good sticky's going. Come on guys, it's not rocket science, make a good board and people will come, I hate when people reserve good or historical names and then just sit on a pile of shit.

>>3064>>3066Thanks, I'll add them to the banner.
>>3070>>3066Those are some good ideas. I'll have to spend some time shilling I guess.
As far as the CSS goes, my intention was to just keep this board identical to half chins /fa/, to make the transition as easy as possible.
Is a new CSS something people would be interested in? I'm happy to try and work something out if so. I'm shit at any kind of web development myself, but I could probably find someone to help me not be a pleb.
If you're interested in updating the CSS, maybe post some mockups of possible designs. At the end of the day, this board isn't mine. It belongs to the community. That said, if you like or dislike things the way they are, voice your opinion. If everyone says they want a new CSS or something and you just sit there in silent protest, it's not my fault when things don't go your way.
Overall I try to have as little overt presence here as possible. I feel that it's the best thing for an online community to have moderators that only intervene when absolutely necessary. I do browse this board frequently each day though. So if anyone has any issues or suggestions etc. all you need to do is post them here or email the mods.

>>3092The default CSS is kinda dull, specially for a fashion board, on the other hand i have no idea what to change it for.
But making a custom one is still a good idea, it adds a lot of personality which goes hand in hand with fashion, also is the place itself is more interesting it should help bring some attention to it.
Just try some ideas yourself there and we will tell you how it's going, i'd recommend something minimalist, black/gray.

http://pastebin.com/9MgiDsFmI have no use for it, feel free to use it yourself (maybe just as a template to add your own colors).
But yeah, something minimalist probably would be the best. I think a gray-ish theme with both dark and white elements would look good. I feel like completely dark seems kind of unfriendly (but maybe that's just me)

I personally like light themes, but I agree that the font should be a little bigger.
Oh, and I would remove the boardlist border or make it lighter. And the text form should be a little bigger (but most people use Quick Reply anyway).

>>3129>>3143Alright I've set the font size to 12px. I've also reduced the size of the boardlist and given it a softer looking border.
As far as the overall color scheme goes, we'll trial this one for now and see what the general consensus is. We can always make it a darker theme.
Though I did try a really dark theme first up and I agree with

So we still don't have a wiki yet, which is pretty poor form on my part.
We've discussed it in the past, but it was just kind of forgotten about.
I've created this wiki:
http://itscalledfashion.wikia.comIf anyone is bored and wants to help contribute, it would be a huge help. Otherwise my intention is to just copy across most of what's on tuxbell, but remove all the dead links (which there seems to be plenty of) and outdated info.

Ideas:
Weekly Inspo Thread
Some sort of regular ongoing posting that doesn't require time sensitvity, like a recap of fashion that week or something.
Maybe a hot releases thing?
