To start us off, I've been getting into "level drain" -fetish lately and was wondering if someone here has done that or how they'd go about doing it. Using "level" as a concept referenced directly by the characters or describing how the other is weakened in some way? What I like about it is undoing progress until someone surrenders mentally, so anything playing off of that should work.

You can go one of two ways about it typically. I personally prefer when the setting's more of a traditional fantasy one, the kind that Dragon Quest or an equivalent RPG could be found in. Succubi, vampires, demons, sirens, et cetera, et cetera. You have a hero or a figure pop up, rife with stats to drain and whatnot, and they run into someone with the capacity to drain them. They fight, they tussle, and by some route, levels are drained.

The other way is for it to be referenced less explicitly. Slow, steady enervation after sex, a kiss, even just lingering physical contact. Mental sluggishness. Forgetfulness. You know something, but next time you think about it, it's foggy. You can't keep up on a jog. Gradual concessions. This can be in nearly any setting, but the problem with this more implicit version is that, let's be real, it isn't video game-y enough. For fuck's sake, it's called "level drain" as a fetish, and in nearly every game where it can happen, it's a marked, incremental step. Ten goes to nine goes to eight, seven, six, et cetera. It's not gradual, it's pronounced, it's noticeable, and it's perhaps even a bit jarring.

But the thing to keep in mind more than anything else with level drain as a fetish is that it's really just a different way to dress up turning the tables. You don't drain someone who's already weak. There's nothing to drain. The strong get weaker, and the weak get stronger. You give up levels because the act's somehow pleasurable (like if it's by sex, perhaps) and you have a lot of levels you can "afford" to give up, but eventually you get caught up in it…

…and by that point, it's too late to "take it back." It's not a choice, and you're drained until you're lvl 1 and helpless.

Those are my thoughts on the subject, I guess! The sad thing is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of media focused on it specifically, but if you poke around, you can definitely find it. Lencubus from Monster Girl Quest Part II stands out as the first example I ever saw of it, personally, but you can also find it in a few other games and photosets. I'd also say that Imp from the same game has a "level drain" tone to it, even if it's not explicitly level drain, but that's just me.

Personally, I don't think non-humans are considered "furry". Even if they're monsters.

Now if they look like a Sonic the Hedgehog character, like an anthropomorphic animal, then that'd be furry, IMO.

That doesn't guarantee that the character you want to play with might dig it. So it's always a plus to approach those that offer a setting that your character can play in. I don't like playing with orcs or elves in my realistic modern setting and always ignore approaches from that kind of characters unless I find them interesting to play with to offer an alt of mine that could suit them better.

Unless you're dealing with shitters, people will roll with it. You know, those who actually care to read your character's profile and get to know what they're about. It's just better if the character isn't too well known, though.

I play pinks only and I've actually never had approaches from BBC or worst genders.

Aside from putting BBC and purples in No, I'm not sure if there's any other way. If they still come to you, it will just keep happening because some people are retarded like that and don't even bother checking your kink list.

Then again, I rarely go to SDLFRP, and the few shitters who find me are looking for specific kinks 90% of the time. Plus, I always choose Straight or Bi-Male preference.

All humanoid races are lumped in with humans usually, if they really only want humans they'll usually put a custom kink saying so.

I've commissioned a few small time artists and never been scammed, typically give half up front and half when it was done. Since they usually have cheaper commission prices to try to build a following even if they do scam you, you're only out a few bucks.

If you read the profile it will usually be clear from context. If it isn't just ask them. For instance, one of my characters is a humanoid alien. I don't like furries so I set it to humans only, but I use custom kinks to make it clear that I like humanoid aliens.

How would you guys balance purple prose and simplicity? In the past I've been guilty of my prose being a tad bit purple, but I had always thought more is more and more is better. It's generally clear they want to typefuck, but this frustrating subset of people typically don't make it obvious what/how they want to typefuck and won't even come out and say it. Often what happens is someone shows up and says "hi" or "hi how are you" and won't advance the conversation past that point. So it's impossible to know what they want unless I assume the burden of the approach. Of course I am absolutely willing to perform approaches, but I'm not going to do it to people who come to me first.

The first thing you have to realize is that, like many other fetishes, there are different flavors to this shit. Sure, you can have the kinky and dominant rough playing, but with full sized characters, the sub can still voice a displeasure or just walk away if he or she isn't into it. You can have the big, terrifying bitch who tortures you, but with full sized characters, the submissive can fight back, or use stealth and speed to get away from the dom. Even if the roleplay is specifically about the sub NOT rebelling against the dom, the fact that it's still a possibility is what sucks a little.

That's not a factor with giantess, and micro/macro in general. No matter what the submissive wants or desires, there is literally NOTHING they can do to stop the whims of the giantess. Voicing their displeasure might make the macro angry, and that's not a good idea. Fighting is downright suicidal, and the best you can hope to do is give her a small bit of pain before she destroys you. And running away? Yeah, good luck fleeing from a woman who can catch up to you in two steps.

So, basically, it's all about the fact that the tiny people are at the complete and utter mercy of the giant that makes so many people enjoy giantess. Maybe I should've written just that and spared me the trouble.

I have a few questions for people who only do multiple paragraph (14-25 line) plays on F-List.

What about the multiple paragraphs makes it a better RP for you? I think RP's are heavily dialogue based, so I don't understand it myself.

Trying to condense my post size to match a partner's when it's below a paragraph is always an exercise in futility for me. I have to strip everything out of my writing most of the time in a way that makes it essentially read like an instruction manual more than anything resembling erotic roleplay.

There's always going to be people who just say "Oh, well you're just shit at condensing writing and need to learn not to write so much unnecessary fluff" but I'd argue that if a single paragraph is considered "too much detail" you should probably just go watch some porn instead. I looked back at some of my really old posts from when I first joined F-list and they're the most cringy shit ever, I'd probably get more erect from reading a sex how-to considering how basic the posts were in detail.

If you like shorter posts and can get off to it more power to you, but every time I see people claim "All these shitters just post a lot and it's worse than posting too little" I roll my eyes a bit. If you don't appreciate the detail that's fine, but some of us do. There have been a few times where I've run across people who write the longest and most insipid bullshit ever, but it's by far in the minority of multi-para roleplayers. I don't think anyone within reason has a hard and fast restriction on post sizes, everyone I've played with is dynamic with it and posts as much as is necessary. It's really not that complicated.

See, this is the problem. If you think the only way to make a multi-para post is to tack on action after action until somebody is going to struggle responding to it all in a logical way, you probably shouldn't do multi-para.

For me, I like longer post lengths because I find it flows better from a posting standpoint. I'd rather take 5-10 minutes between writing/reading posts rather than hovering in F-chat to respond to a post every minute, though that's just my personal preference.

As far as acting and reacting, that really could apply to any size of post that extends beyond one action. Taken to the extreme, you'd be stopping every action to affirm how your partner responded, in case it might change what you do after that. ERP is a cooperative task and unlike other RP I rarely worry about things like meta-gaming or making presumptions, since in the worst case scenario a partner can always mention in their own post how they act to change what happened after the fact. It's not a novel, so I don't see the problem with having posts that retcon a part of another for the sake of making sense.

What would you recommend then? I'll be the first to admit I'm guilty of most of post length being mostly reacting to what the other character does, along with in your words "tack on action after action".

Should I learn to stop being so self-conscious, or just quit erping?

I feel like I'm just fucking dumb. I get along with people fine, people end up liking my profiles and kinks but I just don't have any of the writing skill to back it up - Sure, I don't fuck up basic grammar, can spell correctly and stuff, but I just can't string worlds together half as well as anyone, let alone for anything close to approaching multi-para.

Like, I have part of my brain missing that allows other people to describe actions and appearances and things beyond basic, rote, skindeep description. I can't really visualize things, so I end up just adding adjectives and shit at random in attempts to match people but it comes off as sickeningly terrible to me. I feel like it's linked to the same reason why I can't draw at all.

Anyway, this wouldn't be such a big deal but since, as aforementioned, I get along with people and oddly ended up with a decent amount of people liking a handful of my profiles and shit, i'm struck with a paralytic fear of actually roleplaying with any of them as to not disappoint them - I've read logs from some of them and i'm nowhere near up to snuff.

Of course this would all be baseless but I have the experience of early on attracting a rp partner who contacted me first, liked a character profile i'd made, and wrote the first post. It was almost intimidating just to read, and after i'd spent what was probably an embarrassingly long time writing to try and even get close to the post size, they said I wasn't good enough and blocked me. Sure, people have said that person was just an asshole but fuck if that doesn't always come back to haunt me. And in the end, the only 'asshole' thing they did was tell me I suck and block me - they are perfectly justified in thinking I was inferior to them and not enjoying my writing and calling it off.

Anyway that was a pointlessly long post, but to sum it up - Is there a way to avoid my performance anxiety long enough to get practice in? Is it even a skill I can pick up with a reasonable amount of practice? Should I even fucking bother at this point? I always get drawn back to making profiles and hanging out on f-list but the only positive experiences I can think of are tangential at best to ERP, and I can count the number of RP's i've done on both hands, and I can count the ones where I wasn't stressed and hating myself during them on two fingers. So yeah, if there is some key to knowing how to write in a way that isn't tacky and short, let me know I guess.

I'd test it out further. IE; have someone in your steam/discord/whatever, message them. Try and note them. If either of those work in any way, shape, or form. It's likely a router/site issue.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me it's really only distracting if it's a well-established character in a popular anime/manga whatever. If you try to faceclaim Ichigo from Bleach or Misa from Death Note or something, you're probably gonna have a bad time of it. In contrast, if you face-claim some random Idol Master or Love Live girl that a large portion of people probably can't even place by name, very few if any people will get triggered by it.

Basically the more likely someone is to actually recognize the faceclaim, the higher the chances you'll trigger more people. I have a non-sexual RP character who has been played for many years and every RP she has been in has been logged and taken into account for her character. BUT this is not an f-list character, and every character she has interacted with is accessible to every other character and all of them also keep track of their characters' development over time. There is a huge network of characters affecting each other and interacting.

You will not have this kind of experience with most ERP because so many people want to do the same stuff again and again. In ERP, for instance, I want my characters to lose their virginity again and again. I want my character to be kidnapped in every scenario she's in. I want another character to experience pregnancy for the first time again and again. And so on. And there are a lot of people like me. So you might have a lot of trouble convincing others to get in on persistent character stuff with you.

It also sucks that most persistent character players on f-list are shit.

As time has went on, I feel as if long-term, persistent play has died out more and more in my experience. I used to be able to find some people at least semi-consistently, but since coming back to F-list the last few months I've basically had very little luck in the slightest holding down any partners to speak of outside of a very select few. I've been playing a kinky ageplay-oriented furry blue for a while who's got a very forward profile+custom kinks. Your standard big-brute-lusting-after-taboo-girls stuff. The profile has enough formatting and text that it's clearly not low-effort without diving headfirst into inline territory.

I've had plenty of luck finding partners who're into exactly what I'm looking for, but it seems like a quarter of the (promising) people I talk to are interested in taking things in a really disgusting OOC sorta direction.

After a few of those incidents in a row, I had to delete the character so I could get a fresh start. It's definitely more than average, but I don't think you made a mistake. I usually send 3 short paragraphs give or take, but if it's someone I have already talked with here I sometimes send more than what you did. The longest one I sent was barely short of 1200 words.

That said, I think you should go for 2-3 paragraphs, mostly for your sake. I already feel bad when I get no answer with something so "short", if I got none after writing all that I'd feel terrible.

Some people avoid answering rather than explaining, I don't share that point of view but I can understand the reasons behind it. For future approaches I'd advise to explain your idea briefly and send something elaborate only after they reply. I wouldn't feel intimidated, but I like verbose stuff so that might be the reason.

Dirty talk tends to sound stupid or silly outside of the heat of the moment but do not let that hang you up or make you bashful about doing it. So as long as it's getting you and your partner satisfied during the play that's what matters.

I can give you examples of what I'll say or do and they will rightly sound corny or stupid out of the heat of the moment. But for dirty talk or stuff to say during sex:

If you can write them well, numbers don't really matter.

Never slap on an empty custom, never make a custom shorter than three lines unless it's in your No section, and for the love of fuck don't make customs that are variations of things in the same category or are repeating something that's already made.

If you have both the non-custom kink version and a custom kink version to emphasize it, that's fine, but DO NOT make the description of it something like "So good I had to put it down twice!"

Furthermore if you're putting a custom down that does have a non-custom counterpart, you really should put it down. This is mainly because when you use the kink comparison tool on F-List it wont compare customs, and also the search function wont look for custom variations of kinks you may have down.

It's more about the quality and usefulness. 20 should be sufficient, though if you have a specific character in mind then 40 is probably at the upper limit. Personally, I don't really feel like listing precise measurements is important unless the size or lack thereof is any kind of fetish focus. I'm not a size queen and I don't keep a tape measure on me when I write so numbers are meaningless to me. That being said, you can easily find average measurements for whatever real life ethnicity your character may be and use that as a base. Because most writers idealize (and because most blues are male and tend to be fussier about making their endowments known) you'll find that a lot of blues are listed as being like 7" - 9" in length, which in real life is pretty big to enormous cervix puncher. Using F-list data, you'd think 8" was average on a guy when in reality it'd be exceptional. Diameter is another thing entirely. There are plenty of small-chested female profiles out there whose bust size isn't an integral part of their character, and I'd argue that the same ought to be the case with dick size. When every blue out there is bigger than average, bigger becomes the new average. I think I'd actually be more interested in a guy that was less than average (but not tiny) and that made no mention of size or something like humiliation in his kinks, just because by nature of the beast he'd stand out.
