They're hard to read. The purpose of a profile is to provide an idea of the kind of person your character is. If it's hard to read, then what I'm taking away from your profile is that you either a) don't care about other people and only do what you like, or b) you're going to be difficult to communicate with.
This isn't really addressing the question specifically, but when I open a profile and it's full of animated transitions and frames and shit, the more overdone it is the less likely I am to message that person first. A profile should contain, at the least, a brief history, a bit about the character (general personality, profession, skills, goals, stuff like that,) and appearance- a text description is fine, but being a very visual person I prefer pictures.

I actually got a note from the original artist of a set I was using who went to make his character and found out it already existed- whoops.
I had thought the artist had fallen off the net for a decade. We said hi, I offered to take it down and he said it wasn't necessary. He said I'd actually gotten her character pretty much right, I admitted I didn't know shit about her character, I just made it entirely based on the art which was so evocative and characterized her well on its own. I found out he still had a blog and we went our separate ways.

Against my better judgement, after multiple years of using F-list, I've finally decided to say "fuck it" and make a RL reference image profile for kicks and giggles just to see how the other half lives.
From what I know there isn't really hard and cut rules on what's allowed and what's not. The rules on the wiki pretty much boil down to "professional quality" and "publicly released". I know pornstars and models are the go-to for most, but I could see cosplayers being somewhat of a grey zone depending on how they're released.
I assume if the images are released publicly on a website or something (and aren't instagram selfies) or similar it should be okay? Halp.

I've been pretty burned out on roleplaying until I spontaneously started writing with a gay guy (I'm a guy as well) and it went a lot better than expected. Like, a LOT better. It was so good it made me wonder if gay guys are better roleplayers than most of the girls out there, or if I'm just gay? I'm pretty sure I like women but he put a lot more effort into his posts and kept them concise and sultry all at the same time, it was a fresh breath of air from the majority of females' frigid incompetence and it made me recall some months ago when I felt frisky and had a similar experience with a gay guy. Regardless of characters they are playing, male players tend to jive with male players really well (the same way that female players tend to jive with female players regardless of the characters they are playing) because they have more physical empathy.

Is there a way to politely ask for no ninja logging/leavers unless it's like a total emergency? Any time I have "leaving" or "poofing" or what have you under a no custom people still do it, but instead of just leaving straight up they'll just say "sorry I finished" or "got to go" without ever providing an explanation another time, so I assume they are taking it as "as long as you say something it's not poofing or leaving".
I've had people say that expecting a partner to stay through a whole thing is a pipe dream and you should new partners to leave and have a pleasant surprise when they don't.
As someone with limited time that sets aside a handful of hours every couple of weeks just to play, it REALLY sucks getting halfway through, having a partner leave, and then not having enough time for another play.

Well, unfortunately, it mostly comes down to the planning stages or the like to try and get a feel for if they are the type of person who's jerking it. I've seen some people put up noticed that if they do it, it's on the leaver's responsibility to start or push for a resumption the next time around but I have no clue how effective that is.
But well if they jerk it one time, you can assume they are jerking it every time, so avoid them. The other's harder to say. Having roommates or school can be a giant bitch. But alas a lot of the fresh blood on F-list is that demographic and it's annoying as fuck.
