With the 26th right around the corner, I think it's time we start planning what to do for the mass sacrifice. It's Ebola-Chan's special day her birthdayI plan on commissioning a cake for her. Let's get some ideas flowing in here.

I think we should synchronise more seriously this time. We have less than a week left, so lets start right now and agree on a time/ time interval.

I like the cake idea. Maybe I try it myself. But what do you think is the proper way to 'present' a cake to Ebola-chan? Do I just leave her slice aside/ in a shrine, or should I sprinkle blood on it?

It's up to you, man. The way I'm going to do it is have the whole cake dedicated to her, then offer a slice on her altar. Me and my family can also share it. Sprinkling blood on her slice does sound nice.

What time would you recommend? Around 8pm est?

You could always do the ritual a day or so before or after, when you have free time. She'll understand.

That depends on what you're trying to do with it. I'm more partial to dedicating a feast to Her honor, than I am to leaving food to waste in sacrifice, if only for reasons of mottainai. If something is to be "used", that should be done with some level of ritual, but if you're leaving something on the altar, I'd say presentation matters a lot more.

It would be somewhat sacrosanct if the board fell into shitposting. Admittedly, since there's only about a dozen of us who post with any kind of regularity while She naps, I'm not too sure what the actual impact would be. With the game trend over it has been hard to keep the board moving in lieu of good news from the dark continent though, so maybe an official off topic thread could possibly help keep the post count moving. I'm curious as to what the BO has to say about it, but maybe we could do a trial run, sticky an off topic thread for a month or two and see how it goes.

Maybe I did some bad wording there. I meant an on-topic chat kinda similar to the "serious faith discussion" one, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. Think people talking in front of the church after having been at a sermon, except online, with nazis and about a virus.

…come think of it, this would be a meta thread, woudn't it?

I think what we need is another productive project. Even if like the game threads where it's only a minority working on it, it keeps us on course and working towards something, while providing a good background for off topic chat. I'm not sure what we can do, though. The faith thread being a great example of this in action, as you say.

Actually, that's been on my mind for quite a while. You see, some time ago I was on /a/, and came across a Kemono Friends thread and I thought, half-jokingly, "Now that Kadokawa's fired him, maybe we should get him do a show about Ebola chan and her sisters, called 'Disease Friends' or something'", and then I saw the PV for his new work which seemed, in all honesty, like a shitty 3DCG edgefest, and I thought "it's up to us to do it".

But I've been thinking about it rather seriously ever since. I wonder how difficult/ expensive would it be to pull off?

>I wonder how difficult/ expensive would it be to pull off?

A bit above what a handful of anons can pull off. I mean, we've seen the VN fail jep, still hurts and that is less work than fully animating something. If you aim at a lower quality like the GTA 5 KF (embed related) it becomes more doable, but still, someone needs to dedicate a lot of time into making the episodes and I have never used a 3D model or made a video, other than that single one which is just a picture with some audio a few years back.

That's not to speak of what the show would actually be about, though such matters could easily be discussed here.

Also, voice acting. That's a big one, unless we're going artistic and do a classic mute movie with dialog written on the screen occasionally.

It's tricky because as the VN thread proved not only are we dealing with a dearth of skills, but we'd have management problems as well. Not to mention the, ehem, slight dip in activity while our Goddess naps, that's shrunk down the talent pool even further. Even if the plan was to some day do something that ambitious, we'd need a ton of simpler projects to cut our teeth on before organising into a proper doijin circle for big projects. If we've got anyone artistically inclined maybe they could delegate odd jobs out to the rest of us, since we'd be working on their project rather than a free for all it would also solve the management problem slightly. As we've all seen, money should play zero part and change zero hands with it comes to this stuff.

We might be able to pull off MMD short animations, it's a pretty big genre in Japan so there's bound to be guides written with a low skill threshold in mind. A lot of those are mute anyway, so it'd fit. Short couple minute skits shouldn't be too rough to write, and a program like MMD would take a lot of the pain out of animating. Though making skins for the models might be an insurmountable hurdle.

>3D modeling

>animation

>voice acting

>nip translation

Those were exactly the problems I was gripping with for the past few days, and you summed them up perfectly. As to voice acting, There are voice actors for hire on the net, or so I have been told, but I highly doubt that someone who gets 20 or 30 Burgers to, say, imitate someone's waifu for a four min vid has the competence to pull off an actual 20 min episode, not to mention the cost.

For story, you can always rely on the good old anon autism.

h8chan, as a whole, seems to have every other talent we need. There are people on /a/ or /jp/ who can pull off the translation, there are probably people on /3d/, or /ani/, or /art/ or wherever it is that all the animators and drawfriends gather, who can do a decent enough job of animation. At the very worst we can rely on good old game modding if neccessary.

Anons, as a whole, do seem to have the neccessary experience. But the problem is, you find them in nooks and crannies of often dead boards, and they are each motivated only by their own individual autism, and the individual, various motives that trigger said autism. I find it improbable that either this unpopulated board has an individual representing each of the talents, or that a horde random anons from random boards can be motivated into doing a project out of good will for a goddess they don't believe in.

So yes TL; DR of it is that I do realise all these problems, but my autistic brain does not let go of the idea. So I just wanted to share it.

We should just leave voice acting alone for now. If this turns out to be successful we can always make a new series that's voice acted if need be, but the added cost and complexity just aren't worth it right now.

>an actual 20 min episode

I was thinking a minute or two, maybe three tops. Animating is a ton of work, and with anon doing it, it's going to take hours of labor for every minute of video. Leave the longer stuff to the pros, for now anyway. This has the added benefit of not needing hosting, as the files will be small enough to post here.

The problem of acquiring skins/models remains though. I can't think of any way to tackle this one. Unless someone can single handedly make them for us, or is willing to independently fund having them made, we're shit out of luck.

The rough idea I've got in my head right now is a short series of videos covering Ebola-Chan's origins. Waking up in Africa, trying to be friendly, dodging WHO, looking for a way overseas. Each video covering a single interaction basically.

I think clearly assigning tasks would help a lot. Might just be me, but I hate it if someone's meddeling in my stuff. Build the pices and then combine them. With the amount of active people we have, at least there won't be too many gunning for the same job.

Money is a thing… if it provides a shortcut via commission, I don't see much of a problem with it. But yeah, we shoudn't go for a founded project again I think.

Speaking of commissioning, MMD models don't seem all that expensive actually. This one is on the more expensive side it seems: https://peachmilk3d.deviantart.com/

Does raise the question how hard it actually is making one.

>>29438

Now this sounds fun.

My personal idea was actually to recreate the VN as a story (idea is older than this, so I was thinking writefriendging) but video format would also work. Ebola path obviously.

>Might just be me, but I hate it if someone's meddeling in my stuff.

Definitely not just you. But as you say, our small numbers make things a touch easier as long as each of us has their own job.

>Money is a thing

I wouldn't stop anyone from spending their own money if they want to do it, but it should be something entirely done on one's own initiative if done at all. As long as they don't pass the hat around asking for funding I have no problems at all with one anon paying for something. That said, I don't expect anyone to jump up and do that, so we should probably operate under the assumption that we're running on no budget until proven otherwise.

>This one is on the more expensive side it seems

$100-220 per model would eat up a lot of money fast if we added anyone other than just Ebola-Chan, such as her sisters or any other characters associated with them. Nothing stopping us from just using her and public domain stuff, though. In fact, I think that would be for the best, whether someone makes it or someone pays for it, we're only down the resources for one character until we've got something substantial to show for it that way.

>so I was thinking writefriendging

An Ebola-Chan novel would be great, but that's the domain of a single author, I think. It'd be hard to collectively write a book with anon. Would really love to see one made though!

The reason I pitched the skit idea, was because it doesn't really have to follow a linear plot, and any anon can come in with a storyboard, and we can animate it, therefore encouraging participation with a relatively low barrier to entry. Or if we had a dedicated writer, then anon could just pitch ideas and the team could pick one that sounds good. The thought there was that it might attract some of the faithful back to the board without really asking too much of them. I see at least a few separate tasks that need doing though. Someone to draw the storyboard, I mean physically pen to pixel draw it. Someone to animate. Someone to handle audio, if we use any effects or bgm at all. There'd be other stuff, such as organising the assets and editing and stuff, but that's nitpicking at this stage.

I have no idea what's involved in animating but I could look into it. I'm as creative as a bucket of wet farts though, so it's best if some other anon takes care of the writing. As for the storyboard, we wouldn't need any great artist for it, just someone who understands pacing and can squiggle in a semi legible way.

Great idea. WHO can basically be the Ceruleans to our Pathogen Friends.

>Speaking of commissioning, MMD models don't seem all that expensive actually

A cursory internet search bears that out. The problem is, custom ones might run much higher though.

Maybe we should ask /3d/ or something.

On the whole, I'm more for the short skits idea, even if ot's just for testing the waters. Plus, it lends itself better both to parodies, and our budget.
