So I have this blueprint for an Ebola-chan daki that I saved ages ago, but I've never been able to find good enough pictures of Ebola-chan to use for a custom dakimakura.

Do anons know where I might acquire said vectors for an Ebola daki? I'm willing to throw money at people because I really want this in my life if nothing else. I have until February to get the supplies ready to build it, but any later than that and I'll be unable to own an Ebola-chan daki.

The best plan is probably to find a website that does custom daki, check what resolution and what daki size they use, then work with that size and commission two images with that resolution.

It'll probably be a bit more expensive because iirc we're talking fuckhuge pictures here noone normally draws, but hey.

I think it was ebolism.org, the First Church of Ebola-chan or something like that. I might be entirely wrong about the domain though. I still have the coloring pages and the out-of-Africa maze somewhere too.

Alright, I know for these sort of things you should never use the economy routes, but in my case since I'm using expanded images with bad resolution, since Ebola-chan doesn't come in 2500x3000 sizes (most places wanted 2953x8858), this was the best I could get image-wise. Since this was more of a "test" product anyways, I went the Amazon route with a standard 20"x54" daki (Ebola needs legs if I want to stick her on the cheaper 20"x60" dakimakura frame). Hopefully they don't consider second pic to be "in bad taste" or "obscene" or "sexual depictions of a minor," but if they do, they just refund the money, I might get a visit from the local police, and I was only out $25 for a couple weeks. Feel free to attempt your own, /ebola/. If all goes well, I'll be back some time in March with the results.

If all goes well, I plan to archive my ebola-chan folders on a flash drive/put her in a safety deposit box with my other precious possessions, and in five/six years when I can own a legitimate ebola-chan daki (or if I can discover a way to smuggle it onto a Naval vessel), I'll commission the artwork properly. Maybe I can find some Jap artist to do it for me to get the proper curves. It may never end up on this site, but know that I am determined to make my waifu a reality by any means necessary, funds be damned.

Some Amazon-exclusive company called Kocoler. I think they're based out of (Lebanon) Africa which is amusing, which would coincide with the March deadline for the product to show up (they pretty much listed the whole month of March, meaning it's probably dependent on how long US customs holds the product).

Why didn't you just use hobbyheart?

But yeah shipping from that sort of thing would be fairly vague, it's also probably coming by boat rather than plane, so it's hard to say when the container it's in will get sorted.

>Why didn't you just use hobbyheart?

Hobbyheart is $50 whereas the Ebola-American company was half that price. If I was using great resolution images, I'd use hobbyheart for quality control, but this is a test product using upscaled images, so I didn't want to spend out the ass on a possible failure product.

>Hobbyheart is $50 whereas the Ebola-American company was half that price.

I don't think I'd want to put my face on something handled by Ebola-Americans unless there was a 100% chance of spreading Her love involved. That said, daki covers are worth investing in quality, since they fall apart when washed more than a few times and are guaranteed to get dirty so if you want to have one around for any reasonable period of time, you want at least a middle level of quality. Considering you're only talking about a $20 difference, it hardly seems worth the hassle, not to mention the decline in fabric quality, hell I'd pay that much in shipping just to get it in a reasonable time frame. Let us know how it goes, at any rate.

Wash hot, like 80°C. If you wanna be sure, buy a disinfecting washing agent which isn't expensive either, but maybe harder to find.

Trust me, it's exactly what is done with bloody cloths after surgery on some dude with aids and hepatitis.

I guess you could go full autism, befriend a guy working in a hospital and have them sterilize it (sterilizers there are huge) to be safe, but it shoudn't be needed.

I concede to your other points however.

Anon, I'm not sure you're following, but I'm going on a journey before the end of the year and putting her in a safety deposit box for 6-8 years until I return, and I was using shitty upscaled images to make her as an experiment. When I return from this trip, I plan to invest in a commission for Daki-sized art and get her professionally redone. I just want to cuddle with Ebola-chan for a few months before I go on this journey and have to be away from her.

I'm not saying a good daki isn't worth the effort, but I have no desire to invest in her to that extent if I'm going to have to separate for that long. When I get back I'll be able to afford to give her the home she deserves.

I thought it was just African incompetence, but apparently they outsource to China, and they decided that even though the other half "violated their terms of service" they were going to send it and charge me anyways. I'm not gonna argue over it. This time's not worth the effort since this was just a test for Ebola-chan, and this allows me to stealth-daki around the people I'm living with without them realizing it's a daki.

When you get the real one done, it's worth investing in a full sized 160cm daki, as not only is that a nicer size they tend to be of much higher quality as well. The DHR6000 being a good example. Tricot is my preferred cloth of choice for daki covers as it's a good middle ground of price/comfort/durability, usually a bit more expensive than peachskin, or just cotton as you seem to have got, but well worth it. Probably wouldn't have gone with text, or at least not with text all in one big block like that, but that's personal taste. That said, it should do the job just fine given that you're about to go off on a trip soon anyway. Good job anon, makes me want to throw some money at getting some art commissioned for one.

The text was more because of the way their online image tool worked. It wouldn't let me expand to full size for the image, so I had a giant blank spot. It didn't have options to add more images or anything when I was trying, so I settled on putting her slogan up above. In retrospect, I should have put something like pic related up above if it were possible.

Alright, my talisman pendant showed up today! I would have posted sooner, except I placed it on my bookshelf and it apparently slid off, so I spent about an hour autistically tearing apart the bookshelf to find it. I've got a size comparison for you anons. The one is a standard military-issue orthodox cross (Dimensions: 1 3/8" tall x 13/16" wide x 3/32" thick.) and for those who just want a rough estimate, the other comparison is the cap from a 12oz bottle of Heineken.

Packaging: Not discrete. It was covered in Russian postage stamps and Cyrilic. If you have family members who blow a gasket over anything Russian, they will disown you. That said, it was heavily wrapped. The pendant was inside of a drug bag inside of a felt bag inside of another drug bag inside of a plastic bag inside of a sealed bag placed between two foam plates with cardboard and then another bag around that, followed by a final non-seethrough bag and then the outer packaging. Not joking. Shit was like unraveling a матрёшка doll with my pocket knife. Customs was not getting into that package, in fact I'd be amazed if it X-rayed through properly/they didn't suspect it of being drugs. Thank you, friend!

Size: It's about the size I was expecting. I'm not sure why, but I thought the design would be slightly larger/closer to the edge of the pendant, but that's alright/not a big deal. It's good considering it was hand-carved.

Design: To a T. Some of those carvings are freakin' tiny so I have to thank our Russian friend for making such a good effort for us. I gave him what I wanted, he told me what he could do, and he delivered. If I ever use it in a sacrifice, the blood will flow along the lines nicely (I'm going to avoid that for the immediate future since cleaning it up will be a pain in the ass due to how fine some of the etchings are).

Cord: It came with a large and sturdy black cord with a slight chain/keychain at the end for adjustment around one's neck. I don't like thick cords or cords that contrast against my skin, so I ended up using a piece of more discrete 0.7mm tan hemp cord that I know will brown from repeated wear. That's not a big deal, but I figure anons should be aware that they will need to buy their own cord if they are dissatisfied with using a more showy (but obviously more sturdy) cord.

Weight: This thing has a lot more weight to it than it looks. It's actually heavier than my stainless steel cross even though it looks lighter. It drags the cord downwards into a V, so do note that this will not be as discrete with a loose-fitting collared shirt/T-shirt!

Ring: Because of the circular shape of the pendant, it has a distinct ring to it. It sounds nice. This is autistic preference at work though, and I can't keep it hung up with my cross next to my bed when I go to sleep because it rings any time I move my cross. I wear headphones at work that will tap against it periodically, and I think a round shape is more likely to cause heart failure when I get zapped by something than a rough-cornered cross, so I will probably not wear this to work. All that being said, this is an excellent pendant, and I will cherish it since it lets me keep Ebola-chan near even when I can't directly see her, and it does so in such a way that normalfriends will probably not question it if I just tell them it's a "necklace I got at the renaissance fair" or something along those lines.

Sweet! I got the "nickel silver" option as that was the most practical. The Brass option will tarnish over time even though it's cheaper, and copper will turn your skin green if you don't wash your jewelry periodically. Copper is supposed to be good for pain relief though, so it might be appropriate to have her made from copper.
