I have someone who seriously wants to see an Ebola-chan figurine made and is ready to put his money (or 3D printer, which costs money to run) where his mouth is. He is willing to produce the first five for free, at least one of which will go to the creator.

I can't CAD my way out of a wet paper bag, so don't look at me. I'm just passing along the offer.

Clarification (the person is reading this thread and wanted me to add this):

The scale should be in the range of six to ten inches in height (15 to 25 cm) and no more than about four inches (12 cm) in width.

Collaborations are allowed and encouraged. It's not like only one is going to be made. In fact, one or more of the "free five" may be spent on protoyping, and we will send out photos to make sure the results actually match the intent.

Please submit renderings of the model when posting here. The files themselves will probably have to be hosted somewhere else.

3D printer friend here.

Me/Mal talked and agree that although a first or few figurines might be submitted we will try to call upon the community to tweak/revise/approve the figurine. I can offer some feedback by printing some "test" models and providing pictures of them as this process goes on. Like he said. I'd be willing to ship (for cost of shipping only) to about 5 people.

I will do more research on where the printer files should be uploaded. I use thingiverse but do not want anything of your creations uploaded there. They "own" all uploaded files and I personally believe that's wrong. (/rant). So I'll try to find some sort of alternative site to upload those files to.

I don't have any links offhand, but we may want to start with the Project M model that someone did a while back, in terms of digital references.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

3D printer guy here:

Forgive me. I'm new to this board, my only link to it was Mal himself. I'm unfamiliar with the project M model you speak of, but I believe it may be possible to take a physical model from clay or wood, and use a program/app such as 123d catch to turn it into a 3d model to tweak. If someone wants to go that route and try it, that might be another way to go about this.

We don't know yet. That will obviously depend a lot on how much it costs to make them, and how long it takes.

I obviously want it to be profitable but I'm not greedy. Basically I hope to make 2$ USD + the cost of material. And of course the exact shipping cost to each person.

To put it in somewhat ballpark. I'm in the US, so basic postage price to anyone here. +2$ +the material cost. I can tell you 1 spool of material averages 15-20$ that should realistically depending on the size of the models, but I'd guess, print at LEAST 15-20 figurines. For a basic 3-5" tall figurine. Therefore if it prints 15 per spool thats 1$ cost, 2$ profit, and shipping so I'd HOPE it will be less than 20$ total for shipping almost anywhere. Although I'm not particularly familiar with shipping costs, I don't foresee them being too expensive.

I suppose you could fuck anything if you're brave enough. It'll be made out of solid plastic dude. And if you're familiar with 3d printed items it can be somewhat rigid unless its of high quality. I DOUBT the plans will have an entrance small enough to even provide adequate pressure on all sides for your penis anyhow :P

It contains images, along with files with ,PAC and .PCS extensions. A little googling only reveals PAC as a file format use to define networking, such as setting up proxies, and PCS as PowerPoint related. Neither one makes sense to me given the sizes (which are about 400-500kB each). So these may be 3D modeling files of some kind, but if so, I can't identify the software they go with.

Found this regarding PCS (there are other uses for PAC other than Proxy Auto-Config, but they're even less appropriate, like an Atari ST image format).

PCS files are CAD Files primarily associated with Yamaha Piano Combo Style (Yamaha Corporation of America).

Make the CAD model. Submit the rendered images (however crude) here for the scrutiny of others, and collaborate with them if you like. We as a group will pick one or more designs, and those will get made. The pictures will get posted back here for more scrutiny and fine-tuning. After a while we'll have something workable. How long it takes and how perfect it is depends on the input from the lot of you.

Then the people most involved with the development will get figurines for the cost of shipping, and other terms (for more figurines) can be negotiated. Since the guy running the machine isn't claiming ownership of the models, you can go elsewhere if you don't like the terms.

Exactly what Mal said. If you know someone near you with a 3d printer have them print it. I'm just offering this as a possibility to ya'all, who might not have access to one. I myself am not great at cad work, but will be getting into it someday (When I get to it, work and all) But yes.

I do know when splicing (turning the cad file into something the printer understands) files from the free Google Sketchup tend to turn out like… shit. I'm still testing and trying to find a proper CAD program that will print quality based on what you make. I'll post as soon as I have a suggestion and ya'all can "obtain" it yourselves. :)

IF you submit an idea and its not the community selected idea, and you want a copy of that, I can give you a quote on a price to print, and ship it given your area location. (Cost is dependent on the amount of material used.)

Also There are all kinds of different colors/types of plastic we can print with. I'll figure that list out when we are nearing the end of this project and that could possibly be a selectable option. However say only 1 person wants this color, it's most likely not worth it to me to buy that color just for one figurine, I'll figure that out later.

On the note of printing it yourself look up local hackerspaces most likely they will have a once a month "open access" date or such where a non subscriber can go in and talk to the people who participate there, and for a few dollars they most likely would print it also. Do ask to see past prints and check for quality, 3D printers are fairly new and have a WIDE range of qualities.

You should consider starting an enterprise where you offer to give tourists (and potentially native Greeks) an "authentic" Greek pagan experience. Make some cash and promote Greek heritage at the same time.

If you want to get into the news, do a ceremony asking Poseidon to sink the migrants ships. The shock of how "offensive" it is should bring in more people.

You won't believe the ammount of mundane normalfriendry those middle high class Europrics swarming our islands have.

Thanks to "all inclusive" vaccation packages these friends won't even leave their hotels.

They spend their savings to go to Greece and preffer a pool over a beach, gourmet instead of Greek tavern meze, spa over hiking and widescreen instead of sightseeing.

Alternative (or even traditional) tourism, black humor, volkish ritualistics and the occult, would be too tangy for their sterilized kike-molded conformism and vanilla consumerism.

I don't doubt it at all, nor do I suggest marketing to those individuals. They are, more likely than not, a lost cause (though they may have children/siblings accompanying them who might be interested).

Fortunately, not all people are the same. The existence of the individuals you've described does not mean the nonexistence of people who would be interested in such activities. The Greek diaspora could be a good source of such customers; living in America, I've noticed that, whether Irish, Greek or whatever, people pine for that sense of reconnection and authenticity.

tl;dr If you build it, they will come.
