Buffalo 66
i saw this when it first came out and didnt like it then. recently i gave it another day in court and enjoyed it. his relationship with Ricci is obviously something that would only happen in film (i doubt kidnapping a ballerina would go so well IRL) but it would be cool. there are cringe moments, personally i dislike the myth of the dysfunctional American family because that's not too widespread of thing when i was growing up.
the best thing about the movie is the authenticity in acting, wardrobe, settings, music etc. its a very aesthetic film. also the ending was great and got a big reaction outta me.

Why? There are so many great recent films and TV series to choose from, not to mention the classics of the past.
Beyond the Black Rainbow & Mandy by Panos Cosmatos, The Neon Demon & the upcoming TV series Too Old To Die Young by Nicolas Winding Refn, the third season of Twin Peaks by David Lynch.

It's like all movies since the 80s are the same, they are intellectually shallow and forgetable, the plot is very simple and extremely predictable, and even if it is initially some based movie like Fight Club or the latest Mad Max, it still has enough cultural-marxist propaganda to ruin it, or maybe not even cultural-marxist propaganda, but it's at best something that was made by a victim of cultural-marxist propaganda, and the director's cuck mentality subconciously leaks into his art.
Anime has a good idea of what right/wrong is and what good/evil is, which is corrupted in western fims. Anime doesn't take itself seriously, yet it offers a lot for you to think about after you finish a show. Even if you're watching a really generic seasonal show, it's still pleasant Japanese birth-rate-increasing propaganda, and not Jewish birth-rate-decreasing propaganda which exists to make me depressed and feel like shit for being a white man.

hmmmm If I had to pick
for non-horror related stuff, this, like sort of what would happen if John Hughes tried David Lynch style cinematography but directed by neither. John Hughes in how 80s and teenage it was, but David Lynch in the absolute absurdism of it, like everything is just sort of "off"
The Fact its considered a Teen Romance is selling it short
more on the darker side of things, Lawnmower Man is a torturous, disjointed affair wrought with revenge fantasies and moral relativism. its been awhile since I've seen it but I should again even if its really dated.
and yeah I know Cusack and King are huge cucks now but this was a different time.

Define "degenerates". Japan has a relatively traditional society, and if fapping to weird shit is the most degenerate thing you'd find there then I'd take that over anything you have going on in the west.
>their birthrate is still low as fuck
You can't really blame them, they're getting raped by central bankers, and from what I heard a few decades ago it was possible for just one parent to go to work and support a family, now both spouses are struggling to pay the bills for just themselves, even without taking children into account.

They don't have kids on top of that because they'd rather deal with virtual partners and anime girls, they're the literally the most autistic country on the planet. Japs being redpilled is a myth made by weebs and monkeys with yellow fever, they're just bluepilled without the indoctrination being pushed down their throats LGBT and left-wing political activists aren't fringe in the country.

I never lived there so I might be talking shit for all you know, but goddamn at least I don't get all my information from memes. They don't have kids because besides being wagecucked by bankers into a lifetime of stressful work, having kids will just adds to the expenses. Falling birth-rates aren't so alarming when immigration is controlled and the native population isn't being replaced by niggers. A few retards who marry their waifus are an exception, not the norm, and it's a phenomenon that news companies are more than eager to talk about because of its shock value.

Dog Soldiers is such a fun film; a bunch of British commandos on a military training exercise in the Scottish wilderness come under attack by werewolves. The audio commentary track with the cast & crew is one of the most entertaining I have heard.

That film blew my goddamn mind when I first watched it. A very stylised and slow burn, atmospheric film. I have seen reviewers compare it to Lovecraftian cosmic horror, and I agree with that notion. There is also a hint of Altered States there, only here it is a New Age cult-like institute that dabbles in combining drugs and sensory deprivation to heighten the experience – with terrible consequences.
The soundtrack is absolutely terrific and well worth a listen on its own: Beyond The Black Rainbow - Original Soundtrack (by Sinoia Caves) (2014) [LP]
The end credit song is Anonymous by SSQ: https://invidio.us/watch?v=FQpepDcBRzc
It was written & directed by Panos Cosmatos, and it is especially impressive since this was his first film. He followed it up with the terrific Mandy which came out earlier this year.

Buffalo66 is 10/10 if you're a bitch. Romances are bitch flicks made for bitches. The Funeral was better and higher test in every way, had a better atmosphere, a better less self felating performance from Gallo alongside a better cast all playing deranged criminals, replaced romance with prostitution and rape, was slathered in hopelessness and depression like thick delicious frosting, and was most importantly not a bitch flick.

I don't think these two movies can be compared. It's not really a romance movie and more about a character, the girl just tags along for romance where the movie could've played out well without a female lead; it's a live-action anime where a pretty girl who understands you will come to rescue you but that's a fantasy and will never happen, not much different from Welcome to the NHK. I think what makes it unique's biggest factor is the setting, can't put it into words about what I like about the locations but they're nostalgic without being sappy. Speaking of which this board would enjoy Les Quatre Cents Coups aka the 400 Blows.

Anime is the only genre I am familiar with that explores ideas at a 100+ iq level. There is death, emotion, questions of who is right vs who is wrong, and a happy ending isn't guaranteed. I am sad I only discovered it recently due to my elitist/condescending nature.

For serialized entertainment (aside from books) it is. I get there are lots of classic films like Seventh Seal, Dr. Strangelove, and My Dinner With Andre but as for regular series (unless you want to consider Futurama, maybe) there really aren't many I have encountered which have anything close to conflict and discussing ideas rather than focusing on people or objects. Legend of the Galactic heroes was fantastic at examining leadership qualities and systems of government while you were torn between which side you agreed with. Even kids shows like Gundam are higher IQ than anything I have seen on American television in the past 10yrs. Plus when you take into account their focus on duty and traditional values, they stand out above anything else modern jewish culture is churning out for the masses.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. Written by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) this flick is bretty doomer. It's ultimately about how problems are not fixed, and relationships are not healed. It's a meandering movie about rich people and their sexual and chemical degeneracies, but there is some new wave music and moody performances. Also, Queen Winona plays a newscaster concubine of Billy Bob Thornton. The ending is drab. I prefer American Psycho if I wanted some Ellis, but I though this might appeal to some of the people here.

WARNING This is some heavy gay shit but I have to say it. I watched yesterday in TV Runaway Bride because I remember mother used to watch it when I was young and I had nothing better to do so I gave it a try. It's such a B-grade movie, camera is done there really well but the humor is adam sandler-tier. I hate Richard Gere, the snob character he played, I don't like smile of Roberts, it's classical cliche romantic semi-comedy for middle aged wives with occasional "deep" thoughts. However what really got my attention is when I thought if there are similar movies today. How the fuck can this movie be so much better and more enjoyable than majority of movies produced today? I saw some "family romantic comedies" and they are all the same garbage, I don't know why people go even to cinema to watch them. I can't get my head around it. It's not nostalgia, what the fuck went wrong with movies. How can fucking runaway bride triumph anything produced today?

because hollywood already blew all their ideas
everything there was to make, they already made
once you did everything there was, you can only create reboots, sequels, prequels, remakes and work based on other original work.
on top of that today everything has to be politically correct so they add another layer of garbage into their already mediocre products.

How? The most animes I saw were obviously mainly made for teens. I watch them from time to time because some nostalgic feelng I get from them. Even when I was young I didn't even know any of them except Dragonball, One Piece or Ghibli stuff, which I only thought of as some "cartoons" from japan.
I discovered anime when I was ~20. I like a handful of movies / shows but that's it. That doesn't remove the issue, that the most of them are still for a younger audience.
Sure, on the other side the mass of movies/shows in the west seems to be made for retards.

This and the sequel were better than expected, it's nice to watch things that aren't downright shit or mediocre, or the greatest thing ever from time to time or artistic/deep. Bridgette was attractive but I'm too old to be obsessing over fictional characters.

This was sort of shit and my copy's only fucking registered colors were the daily dose for some reason and helped the mood because the original gradient is too bright but I like the concept and saw what they were doing and just having fun with it. It's also on YouTube like Ginger Snaps.

My favorite theory about the movie is that Travis is pretending to be a war vet to fit in better with the post-war society because that's how disconnected and alienated he is from the social dogma.

Yeah, I have heard it before but I don't think it holds much water. But Taxi Driver works well regardless of what character or backstory you project on to the lead.
Travis is obviously not meant to be a role model, but he is also a reflection of Schrader's psyche when he was living the /doomer/ life, so he's not a completely unsympathetic character either.

I don't really think it's that much important because Travis in that movie is more like representation of sets of traits of a man, instead of "This is Travis, this is story about him". I don't know how to express it, maybe I want to say that he himself is truly not the hero/anti-hero of the movie but more like human representation of certain aspects of human mind in certain conditions. That is what makes him so relatable, because instead of seeing him as just another character in a movie, he has effect of psychological mirror. So maybe pretty much this: >>19331
But it's interesting idea nonetheless, we sort of seen it with Sol and most of us know it as well. When you don't have anything you can catch, any identity, it's only natural that you pick something, some other identity, some mask, it's almost as roleplay taken very seriously. Travis is surrounded by western "cowboy" type symbolism throughout the whole movie + that m65 vietnam jacket with mohawk worn by paratroopers (which is maybe another symbol - from cowboy he become the native american, the change of persona); Sol was catching up with 90s aesthetics and school shooters, I mean, are we really different when we are literally on a board - doomer - which can be used as representation of some "common identity"? And maybe it's not doomer, maybe you have something else, I was struggling my whole life with this, do you know what I mean? So I guess it's interesting idea but I don't think the meaning of being war vet is really connected to alienation imo.

Bingo.
The tagline for taxi driver was: In every street in every city, there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody. Taxi Driver is primarily a movie about a man shorn of his purpose and forced to become the background prop to all the action. He's looking to fight for a cause. Or he's looking for somebody to protect or provide for. But he's been where's he's been for so long that he no longer seeks a socially sanctioned way of going about it and instead creates a personal mythology where he is a baddass "somebody".

Funny but I have had this problem my entire life
I never had an identity. Never formed one. I was just some soulless pet doing whatever my superiors told me. Eventually you are adult and suddenly everyone expects you to have your own drive and initiative. But you never learned to do it. So what do you do? You rot away.

I was always pretty playful with this, I took some role and I played it to the max, pretending I'm something only to realize I'm not that. Rotting away is nothing for me because I don't have the patience, I prefer the option of exiting the life in this case.

Decided to watch Paddleton because of the RLM review – not often I watch movies, but put it on anyway. Not going to spoil it - but basically this genre of mumblecore, especially this movie in particular, really digs into what real pain is. The idea or acknowledgement of a cancer being there isn't suffering - but it's knowing you'll be gone all alone with no one else by your side. Knowing every day you lived was an endless loop and that you had dreams and ideas. Maybe there were chances you wanted to take but you were just too anxious, too afraid, too scared of unwanted and unexpected results. So you dug yourself into your narrow corner that you were safe in. The times you did come out - people only saw you as strange, just too different: "Why aren't you like everyone else?" or they'll cast you aside because you're just one of those "weird" people that just don't belong.
The film really may not be trying to express all that - most reviews call it a cute, bromance gone dark - but this is just my takeaway.

I like to watch detective series recently, mostly old ones but even the new ones are not so huge trash, f.e. Castle + fucking Stana Katic is there so what can go wrong. Midsomer Murders are not exactly my cup of tea but The Professionals are great as I remember they used to be when I was kid. Billybongs did some good series, I have to admit, great shit to waste time with during summer weekend while dayniggers occupy the streets.

I have kind of mixed feelings when i look at Hollywood without ideas. All they do nowadays are sci-fi post-society crapmovies and even crappier reboots. Oh yes, here and there they make some action movie but people watch it only because of shitty soundtrack and effects.
