post /doomer/ movies or just movies you wanna share
Buffalo 66
i saw this when it first came out and didnt like it then. recently i gave it another day in court and enjoyed it. his relationship with Ricci is obviously something that would only happen in film (i doubt kidnapping a ballerina would go so well IRL) but it would be cool. there are cringe moments, personally i dislike the myth of the dysfunctional American family because that's not too widespread of thing when i was growing up.
the best thing about the movie is the authenticity in acting, wardrobe, settings, music etc. its a very aesthetic film. also the ending was great and got a big reaction outta me.

Hard to be a God
>A Russian space crew visits an alien planet that looks similar to Earth during Medieval Times. They disguise themselves as Gods and hope to witness the renaissance take place, but things go very wrong as the citizens start killing off intellectuals.
The protaganist, Don Rumata, is the ultimate doomer. This is also one of the most bleak and disgusting films you will ever witness, but the sheer alien-ness of it will hypnotize you.

This and the sequel were better than expected, it's nice to watch things that aren't downright shit or mediocre, or the greatest thing ever from time to time or artistic/deep. Bridgette was attractive but I'm too old to be obsessing over fictional characters.

This was sort of shit and my copy's only fucking registered colors were the daily dose for some reason and helped the mood because the original gradient is too bright but I like the concept and saw what they were doing and just having fun with it. It's also on YouTube like Ginger Snaps.

My favorite theory about the movie is that Travis is pretending to be a war vet to fit in better with the post-war society because that's how disconnected and alienated he is from the social dogma.

Yeah, I have heard it before but I don't think it holds much water. But Taxi Driver works well regardless of what character or backstory you project on to the lead.
Travis is obviously not meant to be a role model, but he is also a reflection of Schrader's psyche when he was living the /doomer/ life, so he's not a completely unsympathetic character either.

I don't really think it's that much important because Travis in that movie is more like representation of sets of traits of a man, instead of "This is Travis, this is story about him". I don't know how to express it, maybe I want to say that he himself is truly not the hero/anti-hero of the movie but more like human representation of certain aspects of human mind in certain conditions. That is what makes him so relatable, because instead of seeing him as just another character in a movie, he has effect of psychological mirror. So maybe pretty much this: >>19331
But it's interesting idea nonetheless, we sort of seen it with Sol and most of us know it as well. When you don't have anything you can catch, any identity, it's only natural that you pick something, some other identity, some mask, it's almost as roleplay taken very seriously. Travis is surrounded by western "cowboy" type symbolism throughout the whole movie + that m65 vietnam jacket with mohawk worn by paratroopers (which is maybe another symbol - from cowboy he become the native american, the change of persona); Sol was catching up with 90s aesthetics and school shooters, I mean, are we really different when we are literally on a board - doomer - which can be used as representation of some "common identity"? And maybe it's not doomer, maybe you have something else, I was struggling my whole life with this, do you know what I mean? So I guess it's interesting idea but I don't think the meaning of being war vet is really connected to alienation imo.

Bingo.
The tagline for taxi driver was: In every street in every city, there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody. Taxi Driver is primarily a movie about a man shorn of his purpose and forced to become the background prop to all the action. He's looking to fight for a cause. Or he's looking for somebody to protect or provide for. But he's been where's he's been for so long that he no longer seeks a socially sanctioned way of going about it and instead creates a personal mythology where he is a baddass "somebody".

Funny but I have had this problem my entire life
I never had an identity. Never formed one. I was just some soulless pet doing whatever my superiors told me. Eventually you are adult and suddenly everyone expects you to have your own drive and initiative. But you never learned to do it. So what do you do? You rot away.

I was always pretty playful with this, I took some role and I played it to the max, pretending I'm something only to realize I'm not that. Rotting away is nothing for me because I don't have the patience, I prefer the option of exiting the life in this case.

Decided to watch Paddleton because of the RLM review – not often I watch movies, but put it on anyway. Not going to spoil it - but basically this genre of mumblecore, especially this movie in particular, really digs into what real pain is. The idea or acknowledgement of a cancer being there isn't suffering - but it's knowing you'll be gone all alone with no one else by your side. Knowing every day you lived was an endless loop and that you had dreams and ideas. Maybe there were chances you wanted to take but you were just too anxious, too afraid, too scared of unwanted and unexpected results. So you dug yourself into your narrow corner that you were safe in. The times you did come out - people only saw you as strange, just too different: "Why aren't you like everyone else?" or they'll cast you aside because you're just one of those "weird" people that just don't belong.
The film really may not be trying to express all that - most reviews call it a cute, bromance gone dark - but this is just my takeaway.

I like to watch detective series recently, mostly old ones but even the new ones are not so huge trash, f.e. Castle + fucking Stana Katic is there so what can go wrong. Midsomer Murders are not exactly my cup of tea but The Professionals are great as I remember they used to be when I was kid. Billybongs did some good series, I have to admit, great shit to waste time with during summer weekend while dayniggers occupy the streets.

No way in hell this will be good, everything these degenerates made was absolutely terrible. Also, hollywood is truly dead, the biggest majority of movies nowadays are capeshit, poorly made 12 rated horror movies, and televised rape of cherished classics.

I have kind of mixed feelings when i look at Hollywood without ideas. All they do nowadays are sci-fi post-society crapmovies and even crappier reboots. Oh yes, here and there they make some action movie but people watch it only because of shitty soundtrack and effects. Come on Hollywood, you used to be key part of our lives even here in east, what happened to you?
