There's a goth club called the Castle that plays a ton of EBM/industrial tunes. Lot of degenerates. Good place to have a strong drink and ppl watch. They put on public sex shows and steampunk/sci-fi costume contests @ events. Decent DJ/VJ set up.

Haven't gone in a few months but used to frequent on the weekends. Good times!

Mostly underground clubs. The one post mentions goth or punk clubs.

Cyberpunk scene is so small every wear, other sub cultures usually form together in there clubs.

I understand why people keep it so underground, but at the same time you get only a small sub culture

Plus people looking for the next big trend or technology.

Everyone sometimes comes together on a project and sometimes people bogart others ideas.

No cyberpunk clubs around here. If I could ever save up the brouzouf I'd like to start one, but considering how fucking dull this city is I'd be lucky if it lasted a year. Most subculture clubs here last for about 8 months unless they also cater to a lot of normie shit. If I had to deal with fucking gangsta rap and generic fucking nu metal most of the operating time I'd shoot myself.

Even the few places that lasted more than several years have been cutting ties with a lot of the local subcultures and just going to shit.

Alright shazbots. Here's how I would do it if I could afford the startup costs.

>purchase an otherwise unused warehouse/factory space from the 1800s.

>DIY the electrical and shit and make sure it's up to code

>set up office, bar, kitchen areas

>set up a vendor's area that people can pay like 50 bucks to setup in, curate that shit so that people are bringing good stuff into my club to draw a bit more of a crowd, standing policy of no corpcuck shit

>Simple menu, handheld bar foods, simple asian foods.

>simple bar setup, keep it sleek but low-life esque

>lighting and like pic related. maybe green instead of pink/purple

>no screens and shit that I can't put together with a small team.

>mostly cheap booze

>try to keep prices below 8 bucks a drink because fuck that.

>low vinyl seats in a gothic style

>3D printed stuff where possible

>keep decorations sparse if at all(my favorite place to go in this shithole city was literally a tiny dancefloor with a strobe and laser light above it and some fluorescent style blacklights on the walls)

>make sure the "stage" area can be configured for a DJ or for bands, maybe some modular shit on it.

>cater to industrial, glitch, outrun, metal, edm, drum and bass, occasionally goth or psychobilly acts

Anyone think I could make that turn a profit? It should be noted that the psychobilly scene here is pretty large, and the main place that used to be for punk and its various subgenres has started snubbing bands, also the few places left for decent psychobilly, metal, and hard rock acts have all kind of gone to shit and are terrible at advertising.

Depends on your location. Business license are expensive. Food and liquor licenses are expensive. Rent is expensive. Fighting off lawsuits from the city when underage kids buy drinks from you or OD on drugs while on your property is expensive.

I like the idea and I'd visit this sort of place once in a while, but running a club/bar/lounge space is a difficult enterprise. There's a reason they pop up and disappear so quickly.

Location is London, Ontario. Big problem is a lot of the local buildings, especially in the downtown core, are owned by one particular group that has been hiking rent skyhigh and killing local businesses, then nobody rents the building from them so a lot of these places have been sitting empty for years. A lot of the places I used to go to died as a result of this scummy business practice.

Surprisingly, food and liquor licenses aren't that expensive, but rent is pretty brutal. Drugs and shit….eh, I dunno. I might have private rooms for that sort of thing, but also pot is legal here so I'd let people smoke up in parts of the building, plus I'd get licensing in place to sell edibles.

Goth is a subculture and "goth music" refers to those music genres typically associated with that subculture, not a specific genre itself. Gothic Rock's a thing, but walk into a goth night at your nearby club and you're far more likely to hear EBM and Industrial.

I would suggest a private club that you had to be a member. You have to pay to join. There's a background check. People who are club members have to vouch for you. If they vouch for someone who is a fuckup they also get booted.

Rivetheads and goths are to separate things you moron.

I'v been into goth since the '90s and were involved into organization of goth events and festivals. Goth is a subculture based around goth rock (a.k.a. coldwave a.k.a. deathrock a.k.a. positive punk a.ka. dirge a.k.a. dark new wave and other) and it's descendants - like ethereal, shoegaze, goth darkwave. Industrial is a separate culture with separate roots. Just because clubs play gothic rock together with other genres does not make them magically goth. If you hear Specimen right before some synthpop does not make synthpop goth and does not make goth a part of synthpop. So quit spreading bullshit, seriously.

He's correct though. More often than not, places trying to call themselves "goth clubs" are actually "industrial/ebm" clubs. The incorrect association of the two comes largely from the fact that in the mid 90s to mid noughties a lot of fetish clubs would play goth music and industrial music.

Hell, at this point in time it could be argued that despite coming from very different places musically, they're thematically similar enough that it doesn't matter. Some of the oldschool goth acts have experimented with a bit of industrial. Johnny Slut from Specimen DJs and plays a lot of industrial music, Siouxsie Sioux and a couple of the other members of Siouxsie and the Banshees tried their hand at some early industrial under the name The Creatures, Alien Sex Fiend has incorporated elements of industrial into their music since the late 80s.

Hell, personally it's not uncommon for my playlists to shift from Alien Sex Fiend to Shock Therapy to Neon Kross to Revolting Cocks to Ministry to The Bauhaus to The Cramps.

The confusion from the outside and even the inside is moderately understandable, really. I don't entirely fault people for not having the wherewithal to do a bit of research.

>So Im going to give a huge shout out to the homies that jumped in this past weekend. It was actually one of the more fun groups challenges. There was 5 in the group, we all ended up setting up a team on a active CTF event and didnt win but we were in the top 10 at the beginning of course that was largerly due to our own master hacker theCheshireC4t lol started crushing the RE challenges right out the gate. tensor first time playing in the group came in and grabbed a flag early on.

I'd love to see a nightclub that would embody a cyber, authoritarian society to the point where upon walking in, you don't feel in this decade.

>Surveillance cameras with facial recognition/tracking that feed to monitors that both the club-goers and security can see, adding to the theme of oppressive government control as well as providing safety for the attendees and staff. It'll also allow the club owners to automatically track and blacklist problematic individuals who've had previous offenses in the establishment.

>Install alcoholic vending machines that sell cheap, canned drinks, preferably imported machines from Asia since those are already prominent there. Cuts down on costs of hiring multiple bartenders and reduces wait time for certain club-goers who don't wanna wait 10 minutes for a beer. Could be applied to quick bar food, too.

>Wall of a mixture of cathode ray TV sets and old computer monitors that play either loops of videos or livestreams, with different types of content depending on the night/musical performance. Could be configured to sync with the DJ set of that day or play movies, shows, etc. for the entertainment of the guests. Themes of overstimulation and consumerism should be the driving forces of the art display.

>Club interior should have typical stage and pit setup in center for big events, but perimeter should include more lounge areas with abstract architecture that would play with vertical height and tight spaces. It'd give a sense of density, as if you were walking through the alleys of a more polished Kowloon City. Lighting would be minimal in terms of palette; whites, reds, and one other color would be the maximum. There would be less of a dependence on actual neon lights except in some places, and a heavier use of diffused LED arrays (no 80's retrowave vibes here).

>Club staff would be fitted to look like they belong in that world, and act the part. Security outfits nowadays already fit techwear aesthetics, so not much should be changed other than the addition of either gas masks or face shields to fit the police state themes and give anonymity to the employee. The bartender(s) should wear a futuristic update to the stereotypical 20's/30's service uniform; a white button-down with holographic accents on the collar and cuffs and a matte black tie with matching dark gray suspenders. Female staff should wear transparent PVC rain jackets (Blade Runner inspired) with crop tops underneath, and bottoms that should show a fair amount of skin to attract guests. Their faces should still be somewhat obstructed either with shades or less than practical face shields.

There's still a lot of ideas I have for a place like this to exist but too lazy to explain in more detail atm. Multiple forms of payment for drinks/services (crypto, Venmo/WeChat, club credit, etc.), electronic tabs that you can monitor on mobile devices, QR/RFID readers for entry into special events (although some of that's being used today), and charging stations (also being used) are a few more unoriginal ideas that would be schway additions. Any features that you shazbots wish were a part of the future of "水" nightlife?

One of the only real problems I can see with this as a clubgoer is that trying to create an oppressive climate is going to subconsciously put people off. People want to go to a club to have fun and watch live music or eat some food with friends. Most people upon meeting a security guard with their face obscured and being on camera broadcasted to the whole club are going to turn tail and go someplace else because that shit is not fun and makes them feel uncomfortable.

Ditch the cameras and broadcasting and give the security guards more of a simple uniform….maybe have a brightly lit entrance vestibule with coat check and the like on one side and a pair of security guards wearing mirrorshades and simple cloth masks which match the color of their uniform (the latter of which are all over the place because of the wu flu right now) and have taser batons openly worn or in their hands at all times. To keep out problem people just have the security guards check ID at the door like they're supposed to and input it into a database on the pretext of "Customer loyalty" or something. Even better if the club is successful enough, offer some kind of perks for frequent customers, like access to a "secret menu" or semi-private booths.

That way there's still the impression of authoritarianism without a bunch of things that make authoritarianism uncomfortable.

>Most people upon meeting a security guard with their face obscured and being on camera broadcasted to the whole club are going to turn tail and go someplace else because that shit is not fun and makes them feel uncomfortable.

I get where you're coming from, but I'd argue that the surveillance presence in commercial businesses, retail stores and clubs alike, is already pretty commonplace and out in the open for people to notice. Target, Best Buy, Walgreens, and other big corps typically have CCTV feeds visible at their entrances to deter shoplifting, and more recently video feeds have popped up at self-checkout kiosks. I feel that drawing attention to the cameras by broadcasting their video feed to the rest of the club would be no different than what the companies mentioned above practice, albeit to a lesser degree of how I'd want a club to present its security. Regardless of whether it's shown to clubgoers or not, surveillance cameras should definitely be placed within the establishment for security reasons.

I suppose one way to lessen the intimidation that some patrons may feel upon visiting would be to market the place more as a theme park attraction/novelty bar, similar to places like the Robot Restaurant in Kabukicho but with a lot more grit. If clubgoers are aware that the presentation of the club is closer to role playing, I think it would put people's guard down knowing it's a charade to an extent.

>To keep out problem people just have the security guards check ID at the door like they're supposed to and input it into a database on the pretext of "Customer loyalty" or something. Even better if the club is successful enough, offer some kind of perks for frequent customers, like access to a "secret menu" or semi-private booths.

The idea of a loyalty program with special perks would be a smart way of merging security and exclusivity with club attendees, and I'd imagine some bars and clubs already follow this practice. If you wanted to get really CCP with it, you could implement a social credit system that takes into account your interactions with staff and clubgoers via security cameras, your choice of drinks/food, whether you tag the location on social media platforms, etc. etc. Your treatment by the club would be influenced by those parameters, and outcomes could range from drink specials targeted towards you to being completely barred from entry.

Why do you seem so deadset on making the experience uncomfortable for patrons? That shit is bad for business. If you want to keep an already niche club running, you have to increase the appeal to the individual, not decrease it.

Why do you assume that patrons will be uncomfortable in the first place? If someone has a general idea that the aesthetics are more theatrical than serious upon entering, I find it hard to believe that they'll immediately dip once they see security in exaggerated attire. People go to haunted houses and theme parks in swarms, what makes this any different?

Wasn't planning on my "cyberpunk dream venue" to be for everyone anyways, nor was I really even considering profit. Just thought it'd be a schway place I'd like to visit. I also imagine the type of people who're seeking such a niche nightclub wouldn't be put off in the slightest by the decor/staff. Hell it'd probably make them feel more immersed.

I am looking now at Hackbb, Torisgone and Enovy to see if the torum community has migrated. The CTF was run by a guy threat intelligence companies labeled a terrorist who was using free CTF labour to break into US Government targets. Since many CTFs were vulnhubs, I am skeptical. But tell that whole story isn't some high seirra 水 drok alice.
