now that the dust has settled from "the great meme war of 2016"

what did we learn from it, and what methods can be used for future internet wars?

I learnt that you're a faggot, for two reasons:

1) the filename ties you to cuckchan

2) you're reddit-spacing, showing how naive you are

I highly recommend you autistically obsess over Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, like I did and still do.

I am at work. Forgot to post the image. Seriously though, when i was walking to work this morning I was thinking about this. I came to /cyber/ after being on a week or two long hiatus and saw your thread. Imo memes are a way of stimulating and manipulating the collective geist.

A significant portion of the establishment's power depends people taking them seriously. Also when it comes to spreading memes, ideas, and news, people will spread things that make them laugh faster and further than things that make them scared or angry.

I feel like GITS fit better with what happened during/after chanology than the 2016 meme war, but i do think we might be on the verge of another stand alone complex type happening, this time targeted at silicon valley giants over their attempts to control discorse and manipulate what users see. It might take a little while longer to reach critical mass though. Right now the net is still pretty devided from the election cycle, and many on the left are fine with SV's censorship and manipulation because it's mostly only effecting their opponents, but it won't be long before the other boot drops and they realize how dangerious allowing tech giants this kind of power is. Maybe once the net unites in the realization that SV isn't on their side, or anyone's side but their own, decentralized platforms can actually gain some lasting traction… or they will just move to the next new centralized service, which after the first year will be silently bought out by one of the giants and the cycle will repeat but with more sophisticated methods of censorship and manipulation.

It seems likely to me that people will always allow their allies to act in ways they will bemoan their opponents acting in. I am hesitant to believe that a mass principled stand on anything will occur unless dramatic culture change occurs.

True, but i don't think principles will be what makes the left fall out of love with SV, but rather self interest. I think that soon SV, at the behest of the DNC will turn their censorship aperatus on the more radical elements of the left, as the democrats attempt to project a more moderate image to try and reconnect with the silent majority and the rust belt.

Sage because this is getting too far off in the weeds.

Getting into the weeds? Maybe, but this has taken an interesting turn. I agree with your SV predictions. I am about 25 and I have noticed that people my within 4 years of my age are by far the most polarised, excluding GenX and Boomers obviously. But the younger generations, kids 19 and younger, don't buy into it as much. It's actually made me extremely optimistic. I have younger brothers, and use Instagram, which is where my sphere of observation lies. I could be wrong.

>kids 19 and younger, don't buy into it as much.

I imagine that is just typical of teenagers. Other than a few kids who were anarchists or communists for the sake of contrarianism, very few people i grew up with were politically aware until they were 22-24. Honestly I wouldn't be politically aware outside of 2A and tech related topics if not for gamergate.

I got a reminder that mixing IRL shit with internet is cancerous

best method would be to avoid the next one entirely

we learned that what we wanted to achieve through the internet cannot be achieved through the internet, only through actual shooting warfare IRL.

Trump proved once and for all that you cannot vote your way out of the system.

2016 memeware goes further back to Gamergate. That is what blew everything up.

1. People do not believe jew media like good people thought they do.

2. (((Narrative))) can be beaten without another narrative.

3. Boomers are a lost cause with no hope of redeeming themselves.

It's because (((their))) magic has been perfected for centuries, while a bunch of anons doing chaosmagic works in the the short term, but fails in the long run.

Magic is not I cast magic missile, it's manifesting thoughtforms to affect the reality - i.e memes.

It's performed in layers.

Magic, Miracles, Manifestations.. all with good intent; from low energy to high energy >

It's all from and for God.

We humans from all our perspectives defy the quality of this magic we speak of.

And don't forget; Anons work at best in chaos, the chanc es are there when evrybody loses oversight, but the autists.

We learned that a bunch of delusional larpers can actually convince themselves they made changes in the real world with "meme magic" so well that they are surprised when the real world doesn't match up with the world their echo-chamber tolled them existed.
