The question has been goin around in my head since a long time. Androids are constantly evolving, one day, they may eventually replicate humans at perfection (think blade runner)
Could it be possible, and understandable for and human to fall in love with and android, and artificial life form?
I personally think it is, to me, the nature of skin, bone, and flesh is expandable. All these materials can be faked, but mind and soul cannot be. Of course, an AI can try to replicate human mind and brai functions, but in this case, we are just gonna assume that the synthetic body is piloted by an human brain (Like Major Motoko Kusanagi in GITS)
I mean, what is the sole difference between meat and synthethic substance? appearence? not really, one day, synthethic technology will be able to fake everything so well you could hardly see the difference.
Physics properties? maybe, but I doubt it.
The only difference is in the human mind and nowhere else.
Like gally said in Battle Angel Alita.
"Brainchip or not, it doesn't matter. A human being is a human being"
What do /cyber/ think about that? this topic really interests me, I would like to have other people point of view.

You'd be amazed at how much affection a human can develop for basically anything. Remember the pet rock social experiment? If a person can develop a pet-owner relationship with a lump of minerals, I'm fairly sure they can fall in love with a lifelike synth.

Humans will fuck anything. We fall in love with almost anything. If we have near-strong AI (they can fake it, but don't have free will), and we train them to pair with a human, and act like the perfect mate, and then we engineer perfect bodies for them?
The real question is if anyone would be able to resist falling in love with a mate engineered just for them.

Transhumanism doctrine. Sex bot will be used to bait men once the hormones in our food and the feminist culture has ruined women completely (at least those who haven't already been deceived into getting traps). Just like the internet used porn, they will use sex bots for robots. You know that strange cliche of sexualized robots that strangely continues till today despite the PC overs sensitivity? It's to move men to technology.
It also has to do with those movies that give human emotions to machines, this is dehumanizing people.
There is no fucking way they're going to simply let men have perfect waifus without something sneak bullshit hidden, like mass surveillance or something. Corporations already are drooling over selling our information. Katy perry recently showed a stream to her young fans of her just sleeping, the point is this is painting mass surveillance in a positive light. Transhumanism is the true end game, don't let your dick or your loneliness fool you into accepting a lie.

Its not a matter of if its possible or understandable, its a matter of when. With the advancement of technology, everyday life has become so connected with computers/machines that it shouldn't be a surprise that humans develop emotional attachment for artificial life.
I've just accepted it as an inevitable fate for humans and have become curious as to how it plays out in the future.

Reminds me of this thread;
>>>/robowaifu/275
Its possible that consciousness exists parallel to perceived reality but on a higher level or another dimension that's here and that consciousness operates through the brain as an interface. If that's the case then perhaps a synthetic interface may be developed which could allow "ghosts" to interact with our perceived reality which would be where the magic happens in that the we wouldn't know the complex situation with what the state of said consciousness might be, it could be someone who has already lived on earth or someone who hasn't. This goes into a strange fringe phenomenon of mediumship but if that gets proven that way it might be very interesting also in that the ghosts might also know some things that elude most living humans. But this is all very hypothetical at this point.
That all said, scientists have gotten pretty far towards making machine lifeforms

It's really a question if it's possible or not, people can have sexual attractive to medical equipment, and men with real dolls grow a serious emotional attachment to them. People can "fall in love" with anything but that doesn't mean it's real love.

Needing other people isn't any more "healthy" then the alternative.

If all of you can pay attention to my comment carefully because my English isn't clear, Thank ye;
I want to say human isn't attract to the opposite sex just because its a man (or a woman) but we're attract to the sexual attributes of the opposite sex ( breast, butts, penis….). Or what we consider as a sexual attribut (in our western societies, a woman with beautiful long legs is considered very attractive and very sexy).
This explain why some "weirdos" are attract to sexdolls or others sex objects ( dildos , fake pussies…).
Now transpose these attributes to a perfect copy of the human body: A cyborg. The result would be the same as if it would be an human: We will be attracted by the "sexy/beautiful" cyborg (male or female).
>why?
Because when we have the capacity to sexualize everything.
A Cleary example: Some are fantasies about feet; others not.
By this I want to say this isn't the body itself that is attractive or a part of the body ( it's neutral ) but
Only how we see it.
Will we fall in love with cyborg women in the future?
Yes, instantly!
Thank you guys.

Yes it is possible.

Irrelevant when the synths will be like 100% human both in appearance and in interactions
The questions is how much of that love will synths be able to reflect back.

Sure they can. Brains are meat computers. There's no reason to think true AI to the point of personhood should be impossible for synths. They'll just be using a different medium to make their neurons fire. Probably.
> soul
I don't believe in souls, they're an outdated remnant from our overly religious ancestors.
If you're talking about soul inn the sense of real feelings, I also don't see why a synth couldn't. Emotions are just a lizard brain response to stimuli, the only reason ours are complex is because we can and take the time to think about them.

The topic has intrigued me for a while. I started a CYOA story that prominently features a robo-waifu. It's rather shitposty but references laden. It also has original artwork. We're past the waifu part for now but she may come into play later.
In my mind, I felt synthetic humans would have to have some form of empathy. Otherwise, you end up with sociopath tier I have no mouth and a must scream kind of A.I.s.

>In my mind, I felt synthetic humans would have to have some form of empathy.
Empathy makes interactions between subjects entertaining, which would be pointless otherwise. We view lack of empathy as a defect because social interactions are a huge part of our own life, but it is wrong to assume that it is necessary only because when we observe life without empathy we understand that there's not much "us" in our lives.
You can read some data on mirror neurons, as they seem to be the mechanism responsible for empathy in humans.

> empathy
Empathy is the ability to understand another being. Any sufficiently complex / intelligent system will gain a measure of understanding of surroundings and the entities therein.
In order to imagine how another entity will act when presented with an action the cybernetic creature will create a mental model within itself based on its experience with said external entities. The degree of understanding can increase with the awareness and complexity level of the cybernetic being's internal simulation of the external environment / entities therein.
The synthetic humans will not only have empathy, all smart beings have empathy. Whether or not the cybernetic entity cares to exhibit kindness or not depends largely on whether that mind reading bitch thinks I'm going to kill her the first chance I get… er– uh, n/m.
TL;DR: Yeah, even "dumb" lab rats have empathy. It's not rocket science.
