So I'm about to be homeless. I'm in Europe. No family, no friends, nowhere to go really.

What is the most schway manner I can live my life?

It's not that easy. I need to be a have a permanent place of domicile and a job for that. Refugees are able to get welfare because they are "refugees". I'm going to try to find work but I literally can't get any welfare in the near future anywhere

How white are you?

If you are at least mediterranean tier you could pass as a really white "Syrian" (which really are from plenty of other Middle Eastern countries) and claim your name as Omar Abdullah.

Pretty much white as white can be - light brown hair and green eyes, pretty white skin. I would never pass as an Omar Abdullah

At best a Turk (from maybe really western parts), but identities are not easy to fabricate these days as opposed to the past. Identity fabrication is extremely expensive in our time. I am almost broke. I have nothing.

Also even if I were to claim refugee status from Syria with no documents/etc. I would have to make up some sort of story about where I was born, etc. and while I can actually read a little arabic of the Qur'an (long story), I do not speak Arabic which would instantly out me as not who I claim to be

Paraphrasing Ned Stark, winter is coming and you wouldn't wanna spend it outside. Just check houses with multiple apartments around the city locate your target and when they open the doors search for places you could sleep in, usually places underneath stairs or basements, no one will notice you with some luck, if discovered or if people start getting suspicious try your luck again in a new building.

Live in a hostel, I did it, not in London but in continental Europe (link cancerous but related)

https://archive.is/Y4aak

I did that, I used to live in a youth hostel, not the ones in the city center where all the nice people go, no. Go to the seedy ones, the ones where cheap prostitutes take care of their clients but make sure it has wifi (to search for jobs and cheap housing). I lived there through all the winter and took a job answering phones, customer support. Dumpster diving is illegal in most countries in Europe but do it anyway. You may and will find some goods that can be sold afterwards and some food. Broken electronics can be sold for a very handsome price and no one asks too many questions about them. Also craigslist or similar pages, check them, lots of cheap or free stuff there also you can sell your shit there. After a while I was able to live in my own apartment, got a better job and I could finally pay the bills. I'm still poor but I'm no longer homeless.

Find an abandoned house and move in. Keep your setup small and only as little as you need. Do not use the front door ever. Do not allow light to escape the windows at night. Steal electricity from somewhere nearby with an extension cord. Steal wifi if possible or use public wifi when you go out. Dumpster dive for food and equipment. Sell stuff you dive online locally. Take pictures. Post them here.

Does your country not have a Department of Housing to assist you? If there's a chance I'll go homeless, I've just gotta rock up to them and ask, usually they can put me in emergency temporary housing until we can sort out something more permanent.

Sign up for whatever government benefit program you can if there are any. Even if it only nets out to a couple of bucks, it's better than nothing.

If those are not applicable, keep your smartphone. Put your resume on it. This is advice I learned from formerly homeless people - smartphones are all you need to give the illusion of stability to potential employers.

Put your resume on it, send it off with free Wi-Fi in fastfood joints. Charge it there, too. It gives you a number for employers to contact you with. You can successfully be connected to the world through it, although avoid facebook because they'll drain your credit with autoplay videos.

Have some water bottles ready to collect water, handwashing sink water is the next best thing to a shower, and if you get an interview you'll need to be your cleanest. Always keep some coins for an emergency cleaning at a laundry mat if you can find one. If not, learn how to clean them with just water and whatever soap you can get from a public restroom and dry them without shrinking.

Newspaper will keep you warm if you scrunch it up and put it inside your clothing, not flat and over the top of you like they do in hollywood films. Always try to have some duct tape handy too - that shit fixes everything, including rips in clothing that would drain heat.

If you can squat in a home, do it. Stick a room with as little window exposure as possible, seal the windows with duct tape if you can find any. Steal power from your neighbors, even if you can only do it at night - still trying to keep consumption minimal.

Alcohol dehydrates you. As tempting as it is, it won't warm you. Drugs start off cheap and are fun but before you know it they're not cheap and you're addicted. Seriously, addiction will creep up on you like Big Boss in a darkness party.

Lastly, as corny as it sounds, hope goes a long way. State of mind influences us in subtly ways that other people can pick up on even if they aren't aware of it. Don't undersell yourself on your resume, and list skills and attributes on it as well. If you don't have any confidence that things will get better it will radiate from you and others will pick up on it, and sadly employers aren't in the business of taking pity.

Hope this helps. Take care anon, I hope you find a way out of this soon.

>Does your country not have a Department of Housing to assist you?

I am homeless in another country that is not the one of my citizenship (i'm a citizen of the UK). There's no chance they'd help a non-citizen. I don't want to return to the UK and even if I wanted to, I don't have the brouzouf to afford the ticket back and there's nothing for me there. No friends, family, nothing.

>Sign up for whatever government benefit program you can if there are any

Same thing.

>Put your resume on it, send it off with free Wi-Fi in fastfood joints. Charge it there, too. It gives you a number for employers to contact you with. You can successfully be connected to the world through it, although avoid facebook because they'll drain your credit with autoplay videos.

Good idea. Thanks for this. I don't use facebook anyway

It doesn't sound "corny". It sounds reasonable and I've found over the years that . Frankl wrote a lot about hope and survival that is really good to read for anyone who suffers from mental illness (e.g. depression) or not. He survived a concentration camp and brought his knowledge of hope/survival relationship into psychology

Germany (east) and I did the same in Czech Republic before going back to my home country (similar situation as yours apparently). Hostels in Germany do have have a max. day stay policy but in reality it is flexible. Just talk to the manager and when they realize you're an ok person they will allow you become a long term resident. I was lucky on my fifth try and like I said before the ones farther away from the center are the most likely to let you stay. Mine was next to a gas station.

Thinkpad as your main computer, get a hiking backpack, charity clothes but have a nice warm coat/jacket, and sell computers or do odd jobs for food brouzouf. OP here, I have access to the internet through the library. I'm in Finland and the days are getting colder and colder. I managed to stay at someone's place for a night but mostly I'm sleeping in playground equipment, etc.

My story is in short is that I attempted to get my ex back with virtually nothing to my name and sadly my gamble failed miserably. Now with no more aces up my sleeve, I'm here and need to find work somehow. But it's not easy as I'm sure you can understand. I'm a qualified English teacher but jobs in this field are virtually non-existent at this time of the year.

I'm thinking of this as an option. Though, "train hopping" is almost impossible nowadays. I have some brouzouf and I need to figure out what to do before it all runs out.

If there is anyone in the EU that wouldn't mind lending their sofa for a few days to a 26 year old guy down on his luck, that would be wonderful. I have no family or friends and I'm basically a nomad in this world. Otherwise, thanks everyone for listening to my interesting situation.

I am soon going back to Sweden, I am also in Finland.. Maybe I can host you 1-2 nights, showers & free meal

I hitch-hiked to Malaga and back to Sweden on very low budget. see → hitchwiki

Cost me 60 € to get down, I hitch-hiked and used couch-surfing.

Another survival tip is to dumpster-dive for food behind supermarkets → see trashwiki

Eat porridge, it is cheap and you can eat much from 1kg.

When you are hungry cold water & poridge will taste good.

Best luck, you will make it, and enjoy it meanwhile. Don't go to Spain or Italy, they got a nasty attitude towards hitch-hikers

So there are 2 ways to live the homeless life

A) the legal and boring way

If you wanna survive, you can go to charity, free public food, or even jail and have your own room and free food (anus sanity not guaranted)

B)the punk life

Now we are making progress, aside from what other chummers told you, you should start learning and studing a lot to survive, get a house, get gear, abuse the goverment flaws, you can try a spaniard accent and go to restaurand and tell them "jelou, i am a student wuo got stuk jier, do iu jav som fúd to jelp me?"

Pickpocket people, food from stores, by the time you will get experience.

I'm a soon-to-be homeless too, but I'll be doing it willingly.

Money rots one's soul, most bad shit in this world happens because there's brouzouf in fucking other people up, including taxes, debt, loans, all this "find a problem and a way to solve it making brouzouf in the process" mindsets that turn to think "find someone with a problem and a way to solve it for them leeching them for brouzouf in the process" instead, I'm stepping away from at least some of that.

However, I do have friends, college and some family as a safety net and am planning to get into some art/politics groups, so you do have it harder OP.

Pay for the cheapest gym to get some roof, shower, bathroom and exercise, plus you get to meet people.

If you don't have a place to sleep, find a gas station, buy a coffee, take it to a table and don't get up until the morning, you can sleep on your arm. Five stars. Similar thing with a cyber cafe, when you're in for some sleep sit at a computer in the back, take a nap and when the morning shift employee comes in, you cheat the timekeeping software into "been here for fifteen minutes", pay for the night and leave after you take a shower in the bathroom. Or you can stay and post about it here eating some breakfast.

Here are some ideas for making some of a living.

>Wardriver

Score a laptop and some wardriving software, hoard wifi passwords+gps data and sell them to people.

Price them according to their bandwidth and security level. Bonus moral points if you only fuck with corporate networks and leave family nets alone.

>Recycler

Find a tech recycling center and a way to take with you some parts that look fixable, smash them together, install debian or a cracked windows and sell, repeat. A place to stack the computers until you get a buyer would be useful,

>Pentester

SE companies into giving you brouzouf because you found some vulnerability in their stuff.

Optionally you can actually find the cracks, test their website or sit outside their building, get into their wifi net and see what's in.

>Coder

Learn pyQT or something, it gets cool stuff done for stores, cybercafes, companies, you name it.

>Teach something

With all this biometric vegan yoga hip shit going on you can BS your way into some brouzouf giving a course on whatever new age thing soccer moms read about in the dead time between taking the kids to school and making lunch. Or teach something that's not a scam, like MS Office to old pals.

Just don't steal from average people, don't be shit.

The only things you need for getting started is an internet connection, witch I hope OP still have, a pair of crocodile clips, and an old telephone, one that doesn't need another power source that the phone line itself.

I'm fairly certain he's gotten on fine, it's quite literally illegal to be homeless in Finland (and all the Nordic countries), and the Government is obliged to help EU citizens.

If he didn't use his head and get out himself, he would've gotten picked up by the Police at some point and the situation would've been taken care of by the local Government and the UK embassy.

While it would be nice to hear back, he probably doesn't give a shit about this board, like so many others it seems.

How much brouzouf do you have left to your name?

I was homeless in London for over two years, and did something similar to this - >>36672 - stayed in cheap backpacker's hostels over the winter.

My top tips if you still have a little bit of brouzouf to your name but not enough to rent an apartment:

>1) take out a gym membership, preferably cheap, preferably somewhere with at least one 24-hour location in your vicinity - pay up for the year if you have the cash. A gym with a good shower/locker room is a godsend, you can keep clean and presentable, even clean clothes, etc. Many gyms will let you hire a specific locker for a small monthly fee, if you can afford that and they're secure it's a good place to store clothes and food

>2) Find and hire a cheap self-storage unit, a small one. If you can afford this it'll be an invaluable place to dump valuables, spend time during the day, etc.

>3) Get used to your sleep schedule being utterly fucked - when I didn't have anywhere to stay I'd stay awake all night, usually go to the 24-hour branch of the gym I'd signed up to, do a half-hearted weight routine for 45 minutes to not draw suspicion and then spend as much time as possible in the steam room, the shower, etc cleaning myself up and freshening up my clothing, grabbing free coffee from the machine, etc. During the day you can find a coffee shop to apply for work in via Wi-Fi, order a drink and nurse it. Maybe you can catch a cheeky 30 minute nap if the staff are amiable, try and look like a hard-working student or something

>4) Sell everything you have of value, but keep at least a notebook with Wi-Fi connectivity. This is going to become your lifeline, from downloading or streaming the odd film, album, TV show to keep yourself sane, to learning skills online, to keeping a well-maintained email account and applying for jobs. Guard it with your life

>5) Network your ass off. If you have any particular skills, flaunt them. I eventually got some illustration gigs after someone who knew someone referred me after seeing my sketchbook

>6) Nothing but free time, make the most of it - you're going to be at a loose end fairly regularly when homeless. When not looking for food and water, don't succumb to the usual vices hobos indulge in to keep their minds off the existential horror of their existence - no drugs, no booze, etc. Learn. If you have a computer and Wi-Fi connection you can teach yourself anything

Best of luck, anon. Being a straight, white, male, 21-35 homeless person is the toughest shit in the world, literally no-one will help you. If you can spontaneously grow a vagina or turn yourself Syrian, do it.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I just felled back on this post today.

There is nothing related to SE skill, the only thing you need to learn is how to plug your phone on other people line, then call overtaxed number, like allopass or else.

I won't go into details, but I invite you to look around (forums on tor network, etc) for more detailed tutorials.

But be carefull, the trick only work with old telephonic lines, witch tent to be replaced. Also, some countries have a detection system who can catch you if you go too long on the same places.

So, you know, don't stay too long on the same places.

The best of luck.

This seems to be one of the best ideas here, even if it's counter-intuitive at first. Especially in the US, where everything is spread out. A car gives you storage and fast transport, and helps you look less sketchy.

If you have a car, you have a place to sleep, and store things, with a lock. You aren't really homeless, which is good.

If you can get a van, and if it runs. I wouldn't consider that homeless at all. I would go that route if I wasn't tied down as a wage slave.

I might be homeless in the near future. I've had it happen three times so far. I remember the time before it happened. I had this kickass new computer, big bed, job. I worked hard for everything and took nothing for granted. Then came along someone who decided to fuck our life up and got me arrested. Lost everything, but luckily this time I had a friend to stay with. Now I got a shitty computer but no bed and am looking at jail time. Oh, and the police are now trying to say I did shit I didn't do. I'm starting to think maybe the next time I get a stable address and stuff I'll just sell drugs.

Bumping for my fellow nomads. Found myself back on the street after a while of semi-stable job hopping. Not the first time but this time arpund I have about 3x as much shit in tow.

Also props to OP for going in 100% for your ex we need more romantic assholes like us around

Honestly I'm able to ride on luck and charm for the time being since I'm young and attractive enough qto be extremely stealth homeless, but that also opens me up to plenty of the downsides with that. I have some wage slave job experience but I'm pretty good at leaving jobs around the 4-6 month mark cause that's just the way I am. Pretty hard to get hired when youre percieved as such a risk of an employee to everyone. Dropped out of college 2 years in too and I'm just doing what I can to skate by my early 20's with what little resources I have homeless and otherwise lol.

I mostly hop from different WiFi spots day to day since its winter. Sometimes hard to find food because I like to guarantee my theft comes with minimal risk and practice a decent amount of situational awareness. Also jail isn't fun and I had to leave all my shit behind last time I was arrwested; of course it was gone by the time I was processed out. laptop, clothes, food, the whole damn bag. Only consostent problem I have is with coppers/other people who see themselves as pillars of authority. Earlier today I was cuffed by a porkie for being in a public (university) library after hours. My advice to anyone is to exploit your own weaknesses or strengthen them, however you wanna take it, and keep moving cause if you stop you die.

Didnt resist or anything. complied and gave him my drivers license cause I'm black and wanted to start off on the right foot

He prompted me with thickheaded questions like "How'd you get in here?" and "Are you enrolled?" as if the library lobby didnt have a sign on it saying open 24 hours to students.

Only thing it coulda been was i told him i wasnt a student, because im definitely not since i dropped out almost a year ago. Weird enough after im cuffed and in the back seat he calls in my info to the university office and apparently I was somehow listed as enrolled??

So i asked "So what now, since you handcuffed a student for sleeping in the library?"

He had no reply so of course I was forced to embarrass him by yelling at the flatfoot the next time he radio'd his pals at the station

It's just how Houston porkers work really, they're pretty scummy and this was not my first and wont be my last time dealing with em

I got a few but this one might work for now lol. It takes place the last time i was homeless, near the same library, on the same college campus, INVLOLVING THE SAME EXACT COP but like 9-10 months ago.

>So I'm wheeling around on the university campus riding this bike i found outside a lecture hall. Cause it's like 1am and why the fuck not? After popping wheelies in a parking lot until I tire myself out, I decide to roll it back to the lecture hall which was a terrible idea.

Before I know it some security-drone yellowshirt flags me down in her golf cart and asks how i'm doing, so i'm like "Fine, bye" but she dosent want me to leave. Again I'm in a metropolitan area (Houston) and this school gets a lot of reports of assaults, muggings, that kind of thing & also apparently one went out that night about a "suspicious black man" who robbed some student or whatever.

I didnt know this until after the fact though but either way it wasnt me and she was still asking hella questions cause she probably really thought i was the guy.

She tells me to show my school ID so I whip it out but 2 others fall out which were completely not mine I was using a couple of peoples cards to get into the meal halls. so what, crucify me She obviously saw and didnt like it so already off to a bad start.

Eventually another cop pulls up with her and they ask if the bike was mine, so I say yes.

"Oh alright then so let's check the registration sticker on the bottom"

>:0

So it's obviously not mine and they catch me in the lie so I'm standing there like "l0l? kidding!!" but they don't find my act cute and get a little pissed.

Fastforward 3 to 4 cops later, and I'm cuffed on the ground and they're all circled around me while another gropes his way through my bomber jacket. Pulls out a screwdriver, box cutter, hammer, other basic tools and then pulls out a plastic bag

"You selling drugs boy?"

>Yep, but now's not the time to suddenly start telling the truth

"No" So he pulls out a few more empty baggies, and gets to one with the tiniest pinch of weed in it, which was a surprise to me too.

this is longer than i expected

Anyway they grabbed the lil baggie and were taunting me with shit like "You know what this means right? hehe!" so i'm like "yes, you just earned a free gram of bud" which most of them didnt find funny

>They continued the search; found nothing more than a grinder and a lot of buttons. dont ask why i had so many

I get carted off to the schools police department building and it takes 3 of them a full nap and a half for them to collaborate upon a consistent police report that they could all copy from eachother. I even caught the bit where they raised the amount of weed i had from .7 to .8 grams, the crafty swine.

Thankfully they didnt find anything of actual value cause most of it was stored in my backpack(s) under a set of stairs, which I figured would be gone by the time I'd be out of county jail anyway.

So i went to county, listened to some shaz get raped in a cell next to mine, almost have to fight some dude with BPD, met a chillin muslim dude who likes comics as much as me, then got processed out in about a week. Oh yea and before we were released we recieved our property back which included my phone (which wasnt cracked before i went in…) and wallet which had about 8 tabs of LSD, so guess who had a great trip on his day out of jail lol. Had the cops actually done their job correctly they coulda fucked me over pretty hard but good thing theyre all retarded here.

Well that's it cause i'm gonna get kicked out by hotel security in a minute

honestly though great advice.

If jazz taught me anything it's that people will praise the hell out of you if you're good at improvisation that night, no matter how well versed you are or how out of tune you were the last jam. Just delve into Chaos and do whatever keeps you afloat until you can make it look like Order.

Not saying that being homeless is all fun and games but seriously I really enjoy it at times. I honestly do like learning from and manipulating other people, and you're effectively thrust into the world and forced to invert a lot of what you've learned about your social structures to survive

Protip recall every stealth tactic you've learned through any type of media and you'll have a better time. From stealing food to evading hotel security. Just dont be an idiot like me and get caught sleeping in the Ballroom like i did this morning

>If you don't have a place to sleep, find a gas station, buy a coffee, take it to a table and don't get up until the morning, you can sleep on your arm.

Yeah, thats now how that works. Those are the rules that apply to middle class people of the correct ethnicity etc. Homeless people might not be allowed to sit at table at all exactly because everyone knows they do this shit. You will get asked to leave, and if you don't you the cops will show up, where I live they don't usually arrest; But if you make yourself a bother to them, you will get arrested routinely. You can also go to the next city, but bigger cities tend to be better for the homeless, there are more people and better social programs. Either way, getting 8 hours of sleep like that isn't going to happen.

>I'm a soon-to-be homeless too, but I'll be doing it willingly.

your fucked. You have no clue.

>planning to get into some art/politics groups

How did you get meme'd so hard.

>wifi passwords+gps data and sell them to people.

Wanna buy some wireless passwords?! The average person has a cell phone, and will not even remotely consider paying a homeless guy on the street for wireless passwords. Also WPA2 is basically not crackable, unlike WEP, and increasingly free hotspots exist.

>Recycler

>Find a tech recycling center and a way to take with you some parts that look fixable

Yeah thats not how that works. "Recylcing Centers" accept e-waste that they part out/repair or scrap for metal. There is no chance they give you e-waste to sell.

>install debian

People will not use linux. I have tried.

>Cracked windows

Or you know, just regular Windows. Most PC Hardware has a Windows COA on it. 7 Product keys active Windows 10. Vista Era hardware will not even run modern web browsers at usable speed anyway. Also most people gauge the performance of a machine based on its operating system for some reason. So, Windows 10 is a selling point for many people.

>A place to stack the computers until you get a buyer would be useful,

Aka a house.

>Pentester

>SE companies into giving you brouzouf because you found some vulnerability in their stuff.

Yeah not really. This one is professional job, done to meet legal or insurance requirements. You cannot simply be a homeless man approaching random business offering a pentest. its not realistic. Also, if you mean bug-bounty kind of programs, if you are the kind of person who can find 0days in chrome, etc, those can have a market value of 10s of thousdands of dollars, so your good an ignore everything i have said. But, if you think that you can pick up free e-waste at a recycling center, install debian, and sell it to people, you probably are not capable of doing this.

>Learn pyQT or something, it gets cool stuff done for stores, cybercafes, companies, you name it.

So delusional. What is a CyberCafe ? Where is the small business market where homeless people sell PyQT apps to small businesses? The trend is Web Apps. Not that you could build apps with PyQT for a business, just, where is the market for that ? Web is cross platform, client is on everything. Virtually everything is a webapp now, unfortunately. Also, as a homeless person, how do you source clients?

>With all this biometric vegan yoga hip shit

wtf are you talking about. Do you know what biometric means?

>you can BS your way into some brouzouf giving a course on whatever new age thing soccer moms read about in the dead time between taking the kids to school and making lunch.

No, you can't . Soccer moms will not engage in talking to homeless people. A homeless person doesn't have the social capital required to act as an authority on anything. Where will you hold classes? Where will you meet clients? Its not realistic.

The sad reality is that being a homeless person is like living in a whole other world. Things that normal people might get a pass on, like using a bathroom without a purchase, reading books without buying them at Barnes and Nobles, waiting outside certain buildings, or standing in certain city blocks will become impossible for you. Much less things like getting a job. Your complaints become wortheless, because anything you say is automatically treated with extreme suspicion - your just a homeless person. Getting out of homelessness could be incredibly challenging. Landlords want to see a 'rental resume', employers like stability, and middle class employees.

Your fantasy list of hustles is actually absurd. The number one best way for homeless person to make brouzouf is probably exactly what they do: Beg.

because it is dead. The phone system literally used to be premised on client side security and obsecurity. Modern phone systems (except perhaps pay phones) don't remotely work that way. Subscribers are identified and authenticated centrally more like logging into a website than allowing client phone to decide when you have paid or not.

Phreaking has decreased in importance as prices on telephony has fallen, and alternatives have emerged (Voip, Whatsapp, Skype, etc).

As it turns out Modern corporations are not completely incompetent, and have enough people working on security that a single individual is incredibly unlikely to be able to take them on, and that if they had the skillset to do so , they would have incentive not to - they could find employment that vastly outstrips the phone bill.

The person talked about using a technician set on an old analog line. This is literally the equivalent to plugging a phone in at someones house. I have no clue how you are supposed to turn this into money. Like the person said, coper lines are falling out us. And having people travel to you to make phone calls on your clunky technician set outside someones house is ridiculous.

But hey man, i have been phreaking wifi for years. I stand outside a cofee shop and plug into the wireless. I haven't figured out how to turn that into brouzouf yet.

Telephony is still intresting from a security perspective. But probably more so to governments and surveilance technology companies producing sting rays, possible attempts to decrypt calls, and dumping mobile phone contents for forensic analysis.
