Endo is trying to get him joined into his federal case, however that will likely not be successful, both because the judge is super tired of his shit, and Leatherwood pled guilty, so can't appeal.
* On 4/30, the judge will rule on if his entire case should be dismissed.
* Someone named Samuel Kreimeyer has sent him hundreds of dollars, which he blows on photocopies, phone calls, and commissary items. He doesn't keep enough in his account to mail in his court filings. He's made so many photocopies that jail rules don't allow him to keep them all in his cell.
* He had some sort of state case going against the Sheriff in charge of the jail. That was dismissed, and he now owes the state $265.
* His victim filed against him for attorney's fees, which the judge approved. He now owes her $6500.
* The state has raised the possibility of having him declared a vexatious litigant. This would require a judge to sign off before he could take any new legal actions. That's really a shame, because filing baseless legal arguments seems to be his only hobby.
* Only 7 months left until he's served his time and is able to rejoin society. That is to say: kicked onto the street with no place to live just as winter starts, utterly unprepared for life on the outside because he's spending all his time fighting pointless court cases instead of getting his shit together.

6 months until he's kicked out of jail.
He has no job prospects. He has no home. When November 16th comes around, he'll be out on the street in the middle of winter.
In a recent court filing, he states that his only source of income is $25 a month from Samuel Kreimeyer. Meanwhile, he's now at least $10,000 in debt for all these lawsuits. I just found three more he filed in state court. Each was thrown out, and each added a couple of hundred to his debt.
Instead of working on himself, he's spending all this time on these idiot lawsuits. He doesn't know what he's doing, so 90% of what he submits gets flat out rejected by the judge. On Friday, the judge is going to rule on whether his case should be dismissed outright. For his part, Ben has filed several attacks on the judge, accusing him of being biased against him.
Since that case is about to die, Ben's filed *another* case in federal court, this time naming 26 states as defendants. So, his best case scenario here is to face down the attorneys general of 26 states with no lawyer of his own. Idiot!
What I really love about this case is that it was just assigned to the same judge that's presiding over his other case.
I really hoped he'd get psychological help in jail. If he doesn't start planning for life after jail, he'll be dead by this time next year.

His federal case has FINALLY been dismissed.
After 2.25 years of increasingly crazy and desperate filings with ever more precarious legal theories, the judge issued 30 pages of judicial smackdown, describing his claims as "without merit", and dismissing the case in toto.
His understanding of law is like a homeopathic's understanding of medicine. He says words that sound like legalese, but to a practitioner are gibberish.

Judge: Plaintiff's claims that copyright law preempts all other law is without merit.

Finally, the judge warned him against filing future lawsuits against his victim. That was only because the judge decided that a single lawsuit wasn't enough to qualify.
He did find that due to continuing to pursue meritless claims against his victim, he now owes his victim thousands more in attorney fees.
He's also prevented from filing further federal lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the statute under which he was convicted.

The judge was having none of his shit. He kept trying to shout over his lawyer about how his arrest is illegal because copyright trumps state law, which really pissed off the judge.
He gets no credit for the time he was out on probation, and another year added to his sentence.
His official release date is November 29th, 2019, but the jail can hold him another 14 weeks past that if his behavior is poor. He's not eligible for early release.
In one of his recent court filings, he laments that the Washington county jail gave him a check for his prisoner balance, but he can't get to it now because it's "in the possesion[sic] of his illiterate step father, and mentally disabled mother." Guess we know where our "freakishly smart" friend gets it from.
Oh, and all of his Federal cases have been dismissed, and he's let too much time pass to appeal.

Pretty sure he still has another year to serve. He was first convicted in December of 2016 to five counts, and sentenced to 1 year for each (Originally, 6 months + 5 years probation).
In addition to that, I'm pretty sure Oregon allows the courts to add up to 180 days of jail time for each probation violation AND there were several months where he was "out on probation", but not complying with his probation. He should NOT get credit for that.
