I like ginger for my sushi
I usually take my sushi bits, add a dab of soy, tiny bit of wasabi on it, and a wee bit of ginger on - then I eat it
…I don't cleanse my palate between bites - maybe I take a sip of water

I usually either love that or hate it.
Hate it because that poor kid is usually being treated badly.
Love it because that parent is usually getting BTFO hard.

honestly if you find a nice hole in the wall and go on a weekday around 5:30 or 6 you'll have the freshest food, nicest service (for buffets this basically means they'll refill your water more than once) and there won't be any of those fucking hamplanets that eat all the damn crab legs in one pass and leave the grubby tongs in the water. they only come out on weekends.

What really grinds my gears is when I go to a restaurant and order something super expensive which turns out to be a ridiculously small portion of an incredibly bland/pretentious dish. French restaurants seem to be known for doing this.
I mean if it's going to be a small portion, at least make it flavourful so I get what I'm paying for. But no, usually they try to be too creative and end up using too many ingredients so my palate has nothing to focus on. I hardly taste anything…
Pic semi-related, same dish but mine looked a little fancier and had less butter sauce. One of the sorriest dishes I've ever eaten.

Amen, main reason i never go to any fancy upscale restaurants in my european shithole is because the portion sizes are for fucking ants and im expected to buy full course despite still staying hungry.
Why do that when i can just go to the local indian/thai/kebab/hamburger/home food diner where they still use good ingredients with skill making food taste great while also leaving you satisfied despite spending less than 10yoropoor dollaridoors there.

I love food, i think it's the greastest thing on this earth. For you to refuse and stay willfully ignorant to the way something tastes tells me a lot about your character. All you have to do is taste it for two seconds and decide whether you like it or not and possibly open yourself to a wider variety of foods you never knew you liked.

Another thing that drives me up the wall is related to that. You travel to other place/city/country and your companion/s will find the local food icky, so they order a sandwich or something like that, or tell you to go to a KFC or McD's, and then say that it tasted bad. Holy shit, you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars for you to eat at the same damn place as always. Or refusing to eat in a humble, hole-in-the-wall place and preferring to go to the obvious tourist trap with mediocre local cuisine. I'm not saying that hole-in-the-wall places are always superior, but there's a reason why you see many people eating there.

What in the hell. If you eat steak well done you are a fucking monster. That is the best way to ruin a cut of meat, unless it's ground meat, you don't cook it well done. You lose the flavor, and the molecular integrity of the steak is obliterated beyond taste. I hope you at least make roasts medium rare, otherwise you're a despicable human being. Steak well done is at the very best acceptable, but don't hate others for liking their food to be eaten correctly.

…I do that with the bottom half of the container when I order takeout. I've been too emberassed to do it in public, though.

Ive found that since moving to the US the sheer amount of salt and fat in everything has nuked my palate, leaving food tasting underseasoned or bland. Its going to be nice when I get back to eating food made from good ingredients so I can readjust to appreciating good cooking, rather than just indulgent cooking.

not that guy, but
it's crisp and effervescent with a mostly fruit and sweet spice taste with a slight bite towards the end. it's sweet and tart at the same time and leaves a slight puckered dryness to the mouth after swallowing.
you need to work on your palate and vocabulary if you find this being a routine problem.
