If you know of one, I'd watch it. I've never even heard of one.. except that manga bible (not anime).

I think the Japanese use and sometimes love Christian symbolism, but it doesn't seem to be very important to the plots… not that I've seen at least.

Saint Young Men is about Jesus and Buddha hanging out. Vatican Miracle Examiner is about church investigators who find out if an alleged miracle has really occured (I didn't watch but I heard the plot is nuts). Angel's Egg is a difficult to understand art movie from the 80s that's some kind of biblical allegory.

Japanese media seems to be great at portraying Japanese history and culture. Realistically it seems without undergoing the same historic and cultural development that Japan did, that anime as it's known would not exist. It appears that capturing at least the ambience of foreign cultural aspects is often the most notable accomplishment in them.

Misaka Mikoto is a very cool and good girl. She shares the same franchise as Index, which, as some other anon said, is hilarious, but her side of it doesn't have much church-content. There's a lesbian pervert and some minor lewdness, but the protagonists are nice overall. It's a good show.

Don't really know if there's much wholesome religious anime OP. Usually the Japanese use christian symbolism for moral debate stuff.

Vatican Miracle Examiner was a ride and very not wholesome. The characters are likeable. Though at times you can notice some yaoi fanservice Which definitely turned me off from really getting into it. The art and panoramic shots are very well composed.

Hellsing, death note, and kara no kyoukai feature prominent teological topics and morality debates.

Chrono crusade is about a literal crusade against sinners in 1920's America. (Probably the most tame in this list.)

Freaks by Takaki Tsuyoshi was a very interesting little oneshot to read with a good artstyle (pic related)

I'm sure there are more, but I can't really think of any more at the moment.

Protip: go on safebooru and look up religious tags. Then scroll through images seeing if any have a franchise tag. Then google.

Unfortunate to hear about Vatican Miracle Examiner and very suspicious of Chrono Crusade.

Had the displeasure of seeing Ao No Exorcist/Blue Exorcist anime to the end and it got wonky, even for my younger, less religiously aware self back in the day. Characters quickly felt remorse to exorcising demons the moment they got the upper hand and depicted the devil as being somewhat misunderstood creature who didn't understand love. Then a priest revealed to be bad because he wanted to blow up something with a giant missile called "messiah". Maybe I misunderstood the show since it has been awhile but don't really want to go back to find out and it has largely killed my interest in anime in general to this day.

Anime isn't wholesome, it promotes and normalizes degeneracies like homosexuality, incest, pedophilia, transgenderism, etc…

Maybe its your poor understanding of Eastern culture that makes you think its wholesome, look at their porn, women usually cry during sex while in western ones women enjoys it and moans uncontrollably. Its just that since their society is more patriarchial, they value female sexual innocence/feminity/female exceptionalism/whatever you want to call it, even if the subject matter is degenerate.

In West, since women have more rights they aren't frowned upon for enjoying such 'indecent' things, aren't put on a pedestal and assumed to be default prudes. Basically just like the West few decades ago.

What rights, exactly, are eastern women lacking? I think they get to do all the same stuff as western women. Though, you're right that the East is more male dominated, and I say it beats the current gynocentric, matriarchic West. This isn't relevant to anime, but honestly, I'm jealous of how chaste, sensible and feminine asian girls are. They blow the women in my country out of the water. And you argue that nippon's culture and anime promotes unhealthy behaviors, and they're not wholly great, but their stuff is miles better than what the West puts out. To illustrate my point: Non-virgin girls in anime are rare, and conversely, non-sluts are rare in western stuff.

I remember watching this so, so long ago. Like well over a decade ago. It was even on a vhs tape. Barely remember anything about it unfortunately. There's like a bad dude with a beard pulling the strings, a kid she likes with white hair, and a evil villain ballet dancer like her but in black. Don't remember watching the ending. For kid me, too much dialogue, not enough action. Who knows though, maybe the dialogue is good for a teen or adult to watch.

One of the first anime music video I saw was also with this anime. It was this song, but the video was only princess tutu and no other animes. Looks like that version is no longer up.

>Lewd sexualized perversion of a woman in a Knights outfit as a cartoon

A demonic perversion as women are not meant for war as well as obviously putting a lewd and sexual image on /Christ/. And to top it off she has disgusting weird warped hair color that is not natural and fantasizing of it is fantasizing of something which is not given to women by God it is disgusting dying your hair and rejecting the beautiful hair God gave you. Much of anime is perverted in this way, putting women as warriors as well as in such whorish outfits while you should be dreaming of gaining a wife who will serve you in loyalty in the HOME and for your CHILDREN. They were made to serve man and not to fight wars and do mans work. Shame on ALL of you and I pray you will repent and actually READ the Bible, take it to your HEART and repent. And fantasizing all this in a cartoon is just doing the same but in your heart and it is not of Gods will and is therefore falling into the devils plan!!

It is degenerate. I believe Anime, like ANY STORY MEDIUM, SHOULD focus on telling a GOOD story. Not just some cheesy plot with cute and…erotic characters. Anime as a whole is genuinely not a good place for you to go for good writing. And I only consider two of the shows you listed as good, even if Monster is a subpar adaptation. Having said that, if you're looking for serious, meaningful anime, I would definitely recommend you two shows: Shigurui and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu..

Shigurui has a couple of sexual moments which are revolting. But it's an anime that is in essence an exploration of evil. It's a Madhouse production and the dub is actually quite decent, if that is your thing.

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu is one of the most layered beautifully written anime that I have ever seen and I cannot recommend that show enough. It's about rakugo performers so it follows Japanese traditional performance artists, these are very idiosyncratic people that generally deal with a lot of lowlifes given their profession. Really great show, it's very human.

It's not about rights as it's more about institutional rights. Western women are encouraged to not take responsibility for her actions and not to give af about what others think because she's a free person. And parents were brought up in a manner that restricting their children's freedoms is seen as bad parenting. While Japanese women while still having the same nominal rights, isn't encouraged to do the same. They were taught to reflect on their actions and to think how people get affected by their actions. And parents see it's their right to punish their children for bad behavior.

This generally makes the former less guilty when committing immoral actions while the latter feel much more internal conflict.

Sexual puritanism don't make something 'Christian', almost all societies in the world have been very conservative and tried to limit the freedom of sexuality of women. Anime simply reflects the attitudes of the society it came from, which is btw majority atheist/pagan. It isn't trying to be Christian per say, whose primary difference from other world religions is that it claims exclusive right to salvation through Christ.

And it might be this very attitude that resulted in Christian nations being eventually sexually demoralized. Eastern religions generally teach that you suffer for your actions regardless of what you believe and if you're suffering now, it's because of something you did in the past or in the past birth. They don't give the responsibility of your salvation to somebody else. And this would encourage responsibility for your immoral actions.

Oh it's gynocentrism that results in patriarchial control just like how it's gynocentrism that would eventually result in its demise.

Are you talking about western cartoons? Little of this really applies to anime.

>proclaims there's no god in existence

Give one example. Death Note is somewhat ambivalent. Never seen anything like this otherwise.

>empowered womyn

Waifu bait.

>demasculating males

Harem show protagonists tend to be pretty beta, but that's to make it easier for beta otakus to self-insert as the popular guys.

>no family units

Off-hand, I don't remember any divorced parents. Usually, for shows with high school settings, either the dad or both of them are away on business or for some other reason. I think the reason for this is to give more freedom to the main characters. Easier to write stories that way. Anime families tend to be happy and lovey-dovey.

>>831205

The mainstream left and neoconservatives (i.e. soybois and Boomers) have generally become opposed to anime. I've barely watched anime myself, but from what I've observed, it makes perfect sense as to why they hate it.

>young males are either masculine or strive for masculinity

>young females are very feminine and wear either long catholic dresses or skimpy skirts

>the elderly are portayed as wise ultraconservatives who deserve the utmost respect (obviously not the case for liberal boomers in america)

>women/kids displaying cute mannerisms are viewed as annoying (our pagan society hates humanity and believes only animals can be cute)

>practically no shoehorned diversity, and white features (e.g. ginger hair) are popular among characters

>much of anime shows tradition in a positive light and does not push progressive politics

>families are all united and happy

I could go on… The Japanese have a knack for triggering Western liberals it seems. I'd hang out with an apolitical weeb 1000 times before I'd spend time with a miserable left-leaning sod who thinks late night talk shows are funny but hates anime. I'm not much of a weeb but when I was a kid I really liked this one anime called Rave Master. As an adult I still love it but it probably falls flat by any real weeb's standards. Upon re-watching it recently I realized that it has a lot of Christian themes.

>main character wields and giant sword called The Ten Commandments

>one of the mcguffins is a cross that fits into a slot carved into the side of the sword

>reoccurring theme of mercy, forgiveness, and redemption

>one of the characters (named Sword Saint Shiba) looks kind of like Apostle Saint John (files related)

>Shiba also looks similar to Apostle Saint Paul who is often depicted carrying a sword in western iconography

>one of the side characters even gives a lecture on the importance of holding on to your beliefs and living by them in the face of hardship

>the in world calendar is based on the day that a very important character from ancient times was born (I realize that the real world calendar is based on the day that Christ died, not the day he was born, but still, it's similar)

>aforementioned character is said to be blessed with great power by God

>aforementioned character sacrifices her life to provide the world with a way to combat the dark magic that has corrupted the world

>main character disdains violence and only uses it when absolutely necessary (from what I know that's kind of unique for an anime protagonist)

>antagonist is quite literally an occultist who performs special ceremonies on a certain days of the year in order to create more dark magic artifacts

>aforementioned antagonist is also in league with demons

Despite all of this I can't say that it was intended to be a 'Christian anime' since there are various other parts of the show that are kinda pervy, and some parts of the comic are even blasphemous, but the blasphemous bits didn't make it into the anime.

Aside from all that it has a real final fantasy vibe to it, so if that's your thing, you might enjoy it.

P.S. If you decide to check it out, don't bother with the comic, just watch the show. The comic was originally supposed to end around the time that the anime ended but the artist decided to extend it for some reason and the rest of the story is trash.

The name ReLife says it all, about a guy who isn't doing so well in his 20's and goes back to high school as part of a secret scheme in order to get his life on the right track again. If I had to pick main themes I'd say friendship, growing as a person, and romance, in that order. There's a lot of nostalgia too with a rather heartwarming ending at the end of the irregular run length of 17 episodes.

>Itazura na Kiss

https://invidio.us/X7MmKOnyjxk

Follows the life of a girl trying to go out with the most popular guy at school from their school days up to them being fully employed after college. Has a healthy ride of ups and downs along with a lovely conclusive ending, something that feels like a blessing nowadays. Lots of family life in the background which makes it far more comfy to watch.

>Kimi ni Todoke

https://invidio.us/sjJzR6ghQ2c (2nd op)

This might be the most wholesome thing ever. Quiet girl being herself but learning to open up and make friends at high school. The pastel-ish style is nice and it's all very pleasant. Of course there's the trials and tribulations of teenage misunderstandings and drama but that's all part of the journey.

>Anime isn't wholesome, it promotes and normalizes degeneracies like homosexuality, incest, pedophilia, transgenderism, etc…

It's certainly true that such things are pushed a great deal but I think this is wholly a matter of what you choose to watch. The average person, who considers watching anime a hobby of theirs, will probably end up engaging with this sort of raunchy and lewd content far more than someone who curates things. I think that's just an unfortunate consequence of the reputation anime has outside of Japan, even within the country they have the otakus who, though they may vary greatly, have stereotypes of buying things like body pillows or mouse mats with breasts and so on.

I saw someone arguing that a large part of the problem is how many men don't know how to be men in a more simple sense so they end up relating more to submissive female characters, then the homosexuality and transgenderism come from that. Who knows if it's true but that sort of bottom of the barrel stuff will never be good to watch. It's just cheap.

In my later life I'd fear letting my kids simple 'consume' anime as there's so much trash but watching good things for yourself and your family seems fine. Shows like >>828074 >>830587 >>827738 all seem great. Some are educational like Cells at Work and Yuru/Heya Camp. Yuru Camp and others also encourage taking up new (and wholesome) hobbies too which is always nice. I watched Hibike Euphonium and that inspired me to get into music after largely giving it a miss throughout my childhood, that alone has made me life so much better being able to play with others and learn an art of sorts. It's almost a meme by now but even a show like K-on inspired a bunch of people to pick up guitar, Your Lie in April brought people back to piano or violin after they'd played as a child and given up since they were forced into it.

I'm rambling but I'll just say it's a matter of what you let yourself and others be exposed to. A good anime will teach a good lesson or promote positive change, engagement with productive hobbies and so on, trash anime with be pointless, trite, and probably lewd. It's no good really. Watch what's good I guess

Some of my best moments as well as biggest regrets are from high school and ever since I graduated I dreamt about being able to go back.

The show wasn't that stellar, but the idea really resonated with me. I liked that. If any anons plan to watch it, make sure to also watch the 2nd part (a few episodes long and it's the conclusion of the story)

It's definitely made with the incentive of appealing to the widest audience possible, but it was still very good and wholesome.

There's a few times the characters pray to God, and themes of "faith that can move mountains", but it's not related to Christianity in any way, just like all anime.

Another good anime would be One Pound Gospel by Rumiko Takahashi (creator of Inuyasha). It's the story of a featherweight boxer who struggles with the sin of gluttony. He meets a kind young nun who befriends him. The entire anime is a 50-minute movie. It's pretty good, although the bar incident was not very wholesome (it's not lewd or sexual but it was lacking in decorum). If I were to rate it, I'd say it's PG.

lol, call it sinful if you'd like, debased if you'd like, but childporn? Good to know that, by said logic, something wherein a child must endure abuse is equivalent to an anime where a fictitious drawing engages in dubauch acts. Also, like most anime, the characers are teens.

For all you sensitive romantic bois (honestly it's much more targeted towards girls) it's a wholesome fest with no sexual themes, no lewdness.

It has its flaws but for a shoujo romance show it's amazing. Currently continuing the manga from where the anime left off.

it's not a christian anime.

there is no creator, ruler and judge god in evangelion and there is no messiah. just a catalyst for creating a new world in the character of shinji

if anything, evangelion has some weird, altered buddhist philosophy about suffering, the cycle of rebirth and enlightenment

the anime has a lot of symbolism from different religions, not only crosses. pic related for example is some kabbalah s— or something

I'm not gonna claim that it's a great show, but the isekai Wise Man's Grandchild avoids the usual harem shenanigans. It's basically love at first sight for the protagonist and his love interest, and he proposes to her very early (in the 5th episode if I recall correctly). Otherwise it's a pretty generic power fantasy isekai but I enjoyed it.

I may just check out some of the suggestions on here and get into it myself.

This really isn't true.

The mainstream left and neocons don't give a damn about anime and mistake them for being intended for children. Even with the wokists they reeee about the odd show and loli art but they don't hate anime.

In around half of anime the young males are effeminate and in nearly all of them they a scrawny.

Perverted old man is a common trope in anime, so they aren't deserving of respect.

It's more their voices that are annoying and that the artstyle fails at making them cute.

You're right on the rest. I know one manga though called Baki who attacks republican presidents in his manga and has the MC cucked by a black guy.

>there is no creator, ruler and judge god in evangelion and there is no messiah.

Well the creator figure(s) could be seen as both the entities Adam and Lilith, they're both called God in Evangelion. Also, I'd argue that Kaworu is supposed to represent a Messiah figure, at least for Shinji. He is quite literally a second Adam since he is literally a clone of him and contains his soul. He also appears out of nowhere, talks in riddles, offers unconditional love to Shinji, and then dies for humanity. Anno said Kaworu represents an idealized/divine version of Shinji. This means that Shinji is also a messiah figure, he literally gets crucified. There's also a few trinities in Eva too. Gendo (Father), Shinji (Son), Yui (Holy Spirit). Kaworu (Father), Shinji (Son), and Rei (Holy Spirit).

Ultimately though, you're still correct. Evangelion isn't a Christian anime. It just uses a lot of Christian imagery and also imagery from other religions too. If anything, it's more of a Kabbalistic/Gnostic anime.

Being pro-abortion is no where near as bad as jews are. You also don't pass down a bloodline of abortion supporters and their father isn't always satan like with the jew. Their fate was decided the day they were born, God knows that nothing will save them. It's just justice to kill born criminals. Nothing of value would be lost with their genocide. You've gotta do what you've gotta do.

You know that Tsukasa mentions that one of her favorite movies is “the human centipede”. It happens on the 4th episode, I think.

If you don’t know what it is about, read a review. It’s so disgusting that you’ll probably regret even knowing it.

Anyways, tonikaku kawaii is not about purity, she is sick and perverted.

A few days ago, I found that there's a very good touhou anime series: Memories of phantasm. The show's fan-made, with no ties to the creator of the franchise, and made up of chapters or "incidents," which are cute, simple, comfy, mostly independent stories. The artwork and character design is stellar. There's nothing christian about it, but from a christian perspective, there's nothing offensive about it either. I've enjoyed it a lot. And it's apparently on-going, with new episodes being released at a slow pace. The whole thing is translated on youtube and legal to watch, I believe. Here's the link.

just look at the pictures you posted. Is Remilia a succubus or a vampire? She looks malevolent

I think Touhou is highly questionable in a way a lot of anime is, in the sense that it is bringing you into a different belief system.

Also, magic and witchcraft is often depicted in anime in a positive way, when it's something that is very filthy and nasty.

> Remilia a succubus or a vampire? She looks malevolent

I'm not very familiar with touhou lore, but in the anime that I talked about, she doesn't want to harm anyone and just wants what best for her family. She's a good vamp. Her hostile grin can be explained with gap moe, which is character cuteness derived from the difference between actual, wholesome character traits and the negative expecations you'd have from characters' outward appearance, archetypes and common tropes. Pure gals or pure sluts are another example of this. Pic related.

>just look at the pictures you posted. Is Remilia a succubus or a vampire? She looks malevolent

Remilia is indeed a vampire, though she's not portrayed as actually evil. Touhou Project in general is… really cartoon-y. The series' tone did shift over time (Touhou has been a thing since the 90s, so that's not too surprising), but it maintained its schtick portraying themes from folklore and mythology through cartoon girls with frilly outfits doing silly things.

>I think Touhou is highly questionable in a way a lot of anime is, in the sense that it is bringing you into a different belief system.

Touhou Project is a bit weird on this one. The series' creator, ZUN, likes to make references to religion and toy with religious concepts in his work. In the later installments, he makes a point of using Japanese and other Far Eastern stuff (Shinto, Buddhism, and even Taoism). Though in the early installments, he also used Western themes. Remilia, a Western-style vampire, is an example of that. Though the one of the best examples of that is Yumemi Okazaki (pic related).

Note the cross imagery. That's also a major part of her characterization. And in the game where she shows up, one of the protagonists even asks if she's a Christian. But the Touhou games treat everything in a kinda cartoony whimsical way - including even the Shinto and Buddhist things that ZUN loves so much - so you can wonder whether this kind of representation is appropriate at all.

(on a side note: note how similar Yumemi's design is to that of Christ-chan. I really wouldn't be surprised if Christ-chan was based on her)

>Also, magic and witchcraft is often depicted in anime in a positive way, when it's something that is very filthy and nasty.

I mean, yes, but that's hardly unique to anime. Anime magic is not really different from how magic is portrayed in modern fantasy - i.e. lots of pyrotechnics and sigils that glow like neon lights. It's never portrayed as something occult (i.e. unseen), and as such this "press button to fire magic missile"-kind of stuff does pretty much nothing to introduce people to what magic really is.

That said, magic and witchcraft (of that same highly visible flashy pyrotechnics sort) are indeed also recurring themes in the Touhou series.

Get with the times, friend. Nowadays, vampires in anime are cute lolis who do cute things and maybe get sexually harassed by the protagonist, in the case of monogatari and shinobu.

I really like Death Note's religious imagery. This may have been spoken of before, but Light is often presented as a God like figure; he even calls himself "the god of the new world", as he's able to kill anyone he has the name/face of. When I first watched the foot drying scene, I was weirded out, but then I remembered that passage from the Gospels where Jesus has His feet soaked in perfume and the woman kisses them and dries them with her hair. Everyone and their mom who watched this scene will tell you that Light and L are gay for each other, when in reality that's just wrong as they hate each other. What's really happening here is that *spoilers* Light is about to judge and kill L with the death note, so the writers threw a Biblical allusion in there to try and foreshadow what was about to happen. Earlier while in the rain L says he can hear bells (probably alluding to church bells) signifying that he is about to be judged by a god like being, aka Kira. If you've never seen this show definitely give it a watch. I'm sure many of you have picked up on this allusion, but I just wanted to talk about it to be honest.

Though I haven't actively watched any anime in recent years.

I recently started watching Alps No Shoujo Heidi again. And I can definitely recommend it as a wholesome anime. Good old classic anime, and due to the setting/source material it has some Christian elements in it. (Like the main character Heidi being determined to learn to read, so she can read/sing an old German hymn for an elderly blind lady.)

For me it was a pleasant watch in these odd times.
