Composite/RF-only plebs who always say "hurr CRTs were shit because the picture was all fuzzy" BTFO. There is literally NOTHING wrong with RGB analogue video signals, unless the DAC producing the signal is a poorly-shielded chinese piece of shit. Nobody was complaining about having a fuzzy picture when PCs were using VGA (identical to RGB SCART besides additional horizontal-sync pulse) unless their cable was fucked, or they were using a resolution too high for their monitor's shadow mask.
There are valid arguments against CRTs, such as the weight, the power consumption, the 15.7 kHz whine when driven by TV signals, the piss-poor geometry, and the fact there is a risk of death if you open one up and don't know what you're doing, but "fuzzy picture" is NOT one of them. That's entirely an artefact of modulating 3 separate signals (plus an additional audio signal if using RF) into one signal, and then trying to demodulate it back into 3 (or 4) at the other end, which would naturally look like shit. Fuck you composite, hail based RGB.

Addendum: I recognise that the Mega Drive is probably a poor example to use, because a lot of developers utilised it's notoriously bad composite output (even by composite's standards) to produce transparency effects and additional colours via dithering (alternating between one value and another). In that image alone, you can see it on the waterfall (the gaps make the water look translucent rather than like solid blue strips) and the brown rocky walls (the bizarre looking vertical lines seen in the RGB picture become smooth gradients).

Everyone knows that reading up on various technologies, running little experiments, and tinkering with your setup to get the best possible performance/output, is more fun than actually playing games. It's basically what I'm doing most of the time I'm awake, whether it's old consoles, CRTs, LCDs, analogue/digital AV signals, display calibration, PCs, emulators, shaders, image editing, image scaling, mods, controllers, glide wrappers, virtual machines, variable refresh rates, etc. Then of course there's everything I do that's audio/music related, which all ties into it one way or another. It's impossible for me to ever be bored, there's just too many things to read up on and tinker with.
