Alchemy is part of the Hermetic corpus, which was, afaik, the continuation of pre-Christian Mystery knowledge by other means.
Not very sure where gnosticism fits in, yet. Some seem to consider it the true 'pagan' version of christianity as opposed to the Roman Rite and the Orthodox Churches, on the other hand Neo-Platonists, who we know fought to preserve the Classical way of thinking against rising Christianity, hated their guts as much as Augustine did.
