I am of mountains and of rivers,

Of trees and lakes.

I am the winter and the soil.

I carry life and bring about death.

I greet the day, as the night.

I hail my ancestors, as my brothers.

In me pours the blood of the thousand generations,

That Alfadir chosen between all.

Of Thor and Taranis,

United by the descent,

May honor be returned to them.

By Odin I make the wishes of honor and wisdom.

By Thor I make the wishes of strength and courage.

That the gods grant me their blessings in the battle.

That second website is great for looking up ways to honor the gods in your daily life. Except for the little snippet about worshipping Odin by taking dicks in the ass.

>Odin was a gender-bender

>QED you can worship him by taking cock in the butt

So close, yet so far.

The site is the work of Raven Kaldera. I remember seeing a thread here about the guy a while back, but I have no idea if it's still floating around the catalog. If the name rings any bells, then you may understand why the snippet about takin' a dick up the rear is in there.

Oh, and becuase I realized I made it a little vague, this is the order of how the prayers go

1. First Aett

2. Well of Urd

3. Second Aett

4. Well of Mimir

5. Third Aett

6. Well of Hoenir

7. Spear Prayers

Then begin again, with the next set of rune poems, moving from Old Norse to Icelandic to Anglo Saxon.

Everyone knows that they are associated with Abrahamic and Eastern religions, but hear me out on the reasons it should be accepted into European traditions

1. The Bible is strictly against repetitive prayers, and Christ gives sermons to not mutter and repeat prayers "in the way the heathens do"

2. They have found beads with runic carvings on them, usually stone. Doesnt mean they were used with similar meditative purpose like prayer beads, but it shows that they did have rune beads used for charms of some kind

3. Evidence points towards prayers beads being Hindu or Buddhist in origin and came to Europe through trade. The church simply rebranded it and made up the "Our Lady of the Roses" myth to justify its usage

4. the pre-christian anglo saxon word "bede" means both bead and prayer at the same time, which implies beads were used for prayers in pagan england

5. Even if none of this applies or is true, it works as a practical means of memorizing the runes, which will be invaluable use to Heathens, especially if we start using runes for secret transmissions (as some on pol have suggested)

I agree about modifying the worldview of the prayer beads and thats why i went with a very different construction than just a typical rosary or something. They are designed for drawing wisdom from the runes and meditating upon their meanings, not for supplicating them or remission of sins, as what a rosary is for. The whole necklace is supposed to be a representation of Odins sacrifice on the world tree, which is why the well runes were included

I can get behind this post. I think this about a lot of Christianity, actually: A lot of it is frankly un-Biblical, or at least a-Biblical, and very different to Judaism and Islam; any feature that fits thee criteria must raise the question "Where did it come from?".

We exchange gifts at Christmas/Easter, which Christianity gives no real reason to do, and the dates of these holidays have been claimed to be "wrong" by Christian scholars. Rather, they line up exactly with Yule/Saturnalia and Eostre. I suggest that certain Christmas and Easter traditions are basically unchanged Yule and Eostre traditions, and that Midsummer is also celebrated in some countries still despite having no Christian veneer added to it.

Mosques and Synagogues look relatively similar, whereas (western European, at least) churches look very different. I suggest that the aesthetics of western churches are entirely appropriate for "pagan use" owing to being, rather than anything explicitly Abrahamic, simply the type of building our ancestors saw beautiful enough to dedicate to divinity once they were able to make sufficiently large buildings from stone. (And can we blame them? Gothic cathedrals do look awe-inspiring regardless of belief.)

Orthodoxy and Catholicism feature symbolic blood rituals (so does Protestantism, I suppose), and prayers to wooden figures and idols despite the Bible telling Christians not to do any of it. I suggest that practices along these lines are the type of practices our pre-Christian ancestors were used to and could not be convinced to abandon.

In short, perhaps this idea deserves its own thread, but I think that if we're ever stuck for something in Heathenry, ironically and likely to the discomfort of many from both sides, we are possibly well-served by looking at Christianity, comparing it with Judaism and Islam, noting the differences and seriously considering what of Christianity is, in fact, pagan. If it's not explicitly Abrahamic or Biblical and in general seems contrary to what a Christian really "should" do, it's probably actually paganism.

Christianity is inherently Abrahamic, although it was around in some form even before Jesus.

The reason it adapted many pagan traditions is because is was used as a weapon to subvert the culture and control people.

This >>11743 basically. I think you'd be mistaken in thinking of Christianity as preserving paganism in any form, instead it just desecrates pagan ways for its own profit.

Compare Christianity more aptly with PC "heathenry". You can definitely tell it has pagan influence, but where are those differences taking you if you accept that path? Likely nowhere good from the /asatru/ perspective.

I am of the opinion that we should take anything from Christian and Modern culture, that doesn't automatically contradict our religion and make it our own.

This would include anything from architecture, to praying beads to votive images and classical music.

We can do this, because our religion is racial in nature and so is a lot of Christian and Modern culture.
