yes but we dont know exactly how the process worked, it can be assumed it was pretty similar to ancestral veneration in other cultures, especially other indo-aryan ones like romans. We know the Germanic tribes made figures out of trees, I think they probably represented ancestral shrines of some kind. How they venerated these shrines isnt known; im assuming offerings of food and wine, candles (most indo-aryan cultures have a tradition of not worshiping gods or ancestors without the presence of sunlight or fire) or blood-staining, as was done on runestones made for graves. its very likely these figurines represent graves, as well as ancestral altars.

Our illustrious ancestors must be regularly offered to or they WILL feel hunger in the afterlife. This is expressly important after these twenty generations of laxness.
