I guess the Franks and Visigoths didn't have a spoken language until the Christians gave them one as well. The Christians by dictate destroyed anything which would go against a jew centered world, and enforced reading and writing principally only for monks in the jewish mindset only. It was only when Germanics with the printing press and the Protestant Movement where you get the dissolution of the hierarchy to the point where the commoner is reading and writing again, before then in Christian Europe primarily only a Church Member could read and write, as well as any jew. The Christians created a society where writing was only done on with very expensive materials but still where all the older pagan materials still existed, such as wood, bark, skin and bone and accessible to any farmer/hunter/forager but it'd be seen as devil worship to write something as your fellow folk would report you to the authorities for witchcraft. Of course if you were a jew you didn't have to worry to much about being accused of not being Christian, the jews have always got reparations for anything done to them by Christendom.
